The cost of relegation....

Team versus Antwerp
Interesting. Similar to the system that Argentina played in the World Cup. It can only work for us if we have a genuine playmaker to link between the defensive midfielders and the strikers. I haven't seen Blumenshtein so i don't know if he's that type of player. I think you might be in for a wee bit of a disappointment when you do get to see him....

I believe Munro's ruled out for this one with his foot injury.

Good that it's a home tie.

If you could ressurect ANy ex ICT player
I believe he and his wife split up shortly after that.

If you could ressurect ANy ex ICT player
I'd have Bobby Mann back in central defence for the same reasons as you've gone for Paul Cherry.

Injuries....
So.... Are you saying that if they don't have any match practice between now and the 14th August they shouldn't be considered for the Celtic game? I was brought up in an era, and you probably were too, of players like Law, Best, Baxter, Henderson, Jimmy Johnstone, etc, etc... As far as these guys were concerned match fitness never entered the equation... If they could run for a few yards with the ball at their feet, they were in the team, and that was that. Might be unfair to compare Foran and Hayes, with say - Law and Johnstone, but they are still the kinds of players that can win matches for their team. Remember that scissor kick goal of Foran's in the 90th minute of a crucial game last season.... So crucial that I've forgotten who it was now! Naah.... You cant leave guys like that out the team in such an important game, just because they are short of match practice. I'd be interested to hear what others think.

Team for Sellic
A blo0dy good wind up, too!!

Injuries....
Even if nether of them kick a ball in the two friendlies, I'll be more than happy to see them line up against Celtic. They may very well be lacking match fitness, but assuming they are both physically fit, they will still give Celtic plenty to worry about. Their natural ability will see to that.

Team for Sellic
I like the look of that line-up, and I'd fancy them to take all 3 points off Sellic, even although I've never seen Gillet play. It will be a huge bonus if both Foran and Hayes are fit.

Baptism of water
I was a left footed goalkeeper donkey's years ago, but threw the ball right handed - what's so strange about that?

Injuries....
How come we have so many injured players at the moment, when our season hasn't even propery started yet? The summer break used to be a time when players could get a wee bit of a rest, and get over any niggly lingering knocks and strains. We appeared to have quite a fit looking squad for the last few games of last season..... What has gone wrong since then? I'm thinking TB shouldn't be risking any of our established first team guys for the next two friendlies.

Yeh i agree because someone could pick up an injury or be even worse than barrowman in these up coming friendlies Naaaah...... impossible.

A strange day
I was impressed with the volume of noise from the QP support. Totally drowned out the sweety rustlers, and even managed to keep some of them awake.

I was surprised Roy McBain wasn't hooked for a fairly heated exchange with TB. In fact I've gotta funny feeling it might be a wee while before we see him in the side again.

robert eagle on trial with us
I liked Eagle - he was a popular player, both with the support and his team-mates... Maybe not quite automatic first team material, but it was always good to see him on the bench. There was no shortage of effort and commitment from him when he did make an appearance.

Blumanshtein was meant to take up some kind of a Foran role, a comment I read from TB somewhere. I'd much prefer to see the real thing on the park. He did initially take up a wide left position, then moved to inside left, then seemed to go from there to left mid. He was equally innefective in all these positions.

Cox, Ross and Oddi were outstanding today. Didn't see much by way of a meaningful contribution from Blumanshtein... Team is crying out for the return of Foran and Hayes. Can't really see us doing a helluva lot in the SPL without them.

Post Mortem
Hayes is looking to be fit for the Celtic game....not too sure on Foran though. If you were going to single out two players who got us back into the SPL it would be Hayes and Foran.
-
Post Mortem
Sincerely hope Hayes and Foran will soon be injury free, and match fit before August 14th.

Matchday Pies
Maybe they change the ingrediants for the pies destined for SPL fixtures, and put some real meat in them.
