  1. If we dont talk about the merger or wanting to sack the manager - its going to be a long break............ Butcher out!!!
  2. How can we do this? 1) Good young players are being picked up by lower league English teams and offered many times the salary we can offer - if someone offers you 2,3,4 times your salary would you not consider moving? 2) All lower league chairmen look at their young players as assets and want to cash in, and sadly we have no cash to buy so again its off to Englandshire. 3) There is a perception in Scotland (even more than elsewhere in the uk) that Inverness is the back of nowhere and players just dont want to move up here based on geography and would rather stay central belt or go down south 4) We dont want to be paying high salaries to journeymen Scots just to fill the numbers, when we can sign young, developing talent for less from elsewhere.
  3. Strong rumors are miller to ibrox for a third time
  4. Those that are good enough to enhance the squad we couldnt afford, the others a lot are journeymen and we already have better IMO. Higdon and a few of the well guys, Rae, Webster, Zaliukas, Wortherspoon, M.Davidson, Tuffey, McGowan are the only ones who would really be worth serious consideration and could improve the squad.
  5. Would take him back here too - although I'd rather Killie take him and Toni comes back :(
  6. The additional players didnt help as much as that awful pitch and the home advantage it gave them to get a run of results going.
  7. With the current crop can we consider any as 'Scotlands finest'? Has to be as good as any other options we have just now.
  8. Agree, although we are never going to be in a position to have inspiring names - maybe linked but not realistic targets sadly. While I'd like to see some good young players from the SFL or other SPL clubs, sadly it looks like Rangers are now trying to sign them all up so they will always move for money rather than SPL football :( I see the Dons are in talks with John Sutton, could be a good partner for Billy IMO
  9. Does the player not need to be under 23 to be eligable for compensation? I'm sure the ICT board and legal team have been involved and advised TB whether he can move for the player and they will know is compensation required and if so do we have funds.
  10. I firmly believe Terry will stay put with us until S-Ally is punted and he is offered Castle Greyskull. McCall will go this summer, his whole squad is out of contract and I doubt he can build another team to compete as high in the SPL next year when the likes of Dons, D Utd will be better - he will cut and run. Cant see Adams going there, he will probably get a bigger budget from Uncle Roy than at Well.
  11. There will be lots of comings and goings at SPL clubs this summer, look at already with the Dons having 13 released, Well 7, St Mirren similar number - there will be players about with SPL experience and compared to some teams we look to have a good number of the established squad secured. Just need to get Aaron sorted before he jets off on his hols!!!
  12. Agreed, comes from having too many players who have never been in those positions before - closing out cup semi's, securing league positions - unlike M'well & StJ our team are inexperienced (other than maybe Foran) in these types of situations and obviously feel the pressure. Hopefully this is a learning oppertunity that we may get to learn from in future seasons.
  13. Sack Butcher, sack the team, sack the board - none of them deserve to be there and associated with ICT. They should all be ashamed of getting us to a cup semi and our highest ever league finish. Perhaps the inquest should be why we have the lowest SPL budget yet people expected us to punch so far above our weight all season with youngsters and journeymen who have never been in that position before. The real inquest should be why when we are playing attractive football, scoring goals and fighting in competitions are we not filling seats to at least give us a budget to keep and build on the quality players that the club are unearthing year after year!!!!
  14. In part I agree with your somewhat sarcastic post, I would happily see us maintain SPL status next (and every year) with good cup runs to at least one semi or better a season and if the option was there see us win a cup (either) at the expense of finishing in the top 6. League is over before it starts every year, we have the lowest or 2nd/3rd lowest budget every year - and will probably do so forever until the folks of Inverness get off their arses and head to Caley stadium (attractive football, scoring goals, cup runs & fighting for europe never did it this year so, we will just stick with the loyal few we have and budget on that), so should always be setting targets that are sensible & realistic targets - of which winning cups is the only silverware we can realistically achieve.
  15. Expected shane to go, but not hogg. If it was an affordability issue then id have hoped he'd be realistic with expectations as we paid him through his injury period, if its game time and longrr term risk of injury then I wish him well but think he could have done a job next year. We need to keep arron though as shinniesta is away we lack a creative player.
  16. I posted somewhere on here that I was hoping for SPL survival and a good cup run and that TB was the right man and to be given time to show what he was trying to build. Hopefully we can build and sustain the level for future years. Personally I'm delighted with this season not just for what we have achieved but also the entertainment we have seen - afterall thats what football should be about, entertaining the fans!!
  17. Wonder if he claims mileage? If only they still did Tiger tokens - he could have a enough for a crystal glass to toast the highs of our season!!!
  18. Whats the date for this? Obviously the last game of the season is this wknd, but can they announce announce administration in a wk, 2 wks and not face the points deduction this season - when in the eyes of the SPL does the season finish?
  19. Without Brittain they will be exposed as average. Come 2.30pm on Sun we WILL be in Europe next year. In Butcher I believe!!!!
  20. We have to bear in mind that many of our players havent been with us that long and have relocated from down South, some like Doran are still young and while many will suggest that these players look to move for money, we don't know their personal circumstances regarding family, GF's, wives etc and in some cases these may be significant factors too.
  21. TBF, the announcer said before the game that there would be a lap of honour - although why the players had to go in to come back out wasn't clear. The way it was announced was poor though - citing the players will ONLY be out if there we no fans on the pitch and everyone behaved respectfully, almost treating us all as children with some kind of reward for good behaviour (not sure if that maybe pi$$ed a few folks off). Obviously the result had a big factor too in people leaving, but at the end of the game I don't know why it wasn't announced again that the players will be back out, maybe those not paying attention at KO or missed the announcement or even forgot during the game?
  22. All being released for a reason - they arent good enough and have been replaced by youngsters and their wages will be too high for what they can offer. I'd suggest looking at the youth players, but in a team that has played so many youngsters over the last year or so, if they were good enough they wouldn't be leaving, still could be a local(ish) gem in there.
  23. FFS, are we still discussing GMS not being signed even though its well documented why - There are probably 100's of players we 'could' have signed, if they had lower wage demands, we had higher budgets, they didn't have injury issues, would relocate to the Highlands - but we have the squad we have and perhaps they should be shown a bit more credit for what they have achieved this year. Any chance the fans might actually look to the future instead of always dewelling on the past?
  24. Why - we go to Dundee and that is a HOVEL!!!
