  1. County need time to gel, many a season we have started equally badly. Although there is a bit of a sense that they ditched the tried and tested players they had in favour of foreign signings probably percieving that as they are foreign and cost more they must be good (which has yet to be proven). I expect them to be safe and maybe like last year as the season progresses and Vicky Park becomes a sodden bog they will start to win again when nobody else can adapt to playing on that marsh. *expecting Del to be seen doing a rain dance in the high st this wk*
  2. Suppose its just like last nights Sportscene where the league leaders were on 3rd and the conversation was more about the 'issues' at Killie than our players, team and performance. Fail to see how as leaders for 6 wks now we shouldnt have been 2nd on after the wknds big game.
  3. Having only just now read the 'article' on the BBC sport site 'Caley Thistle lead the top flight, three points ahead of the champions, who nevertheless have a game in hand. ' Am I reading too much into the statement by thinking this is the west coast biased BBC suggesting we may be top but only because Celtic have their game in hand - perhaps its the use of the word 'nevertheless', but don't see that giving us the credit we deserve - wonder what cicumstances this season we will get the recognition in the national media - or am I being too harsh?
  4. Great recognition for the hard work - lets hope it continues and is the first of many more awards this year
  5. HT: 2-0 FT: 3-0 1st ICT: Doran 1st Opp: Collins Time of 1st Goal: 20 mins
  6. HT: 0-1 FT: 1-2 1st ICT: Vincent 1st Opp: Hayes Time of 1st Goal: 20mins
  7. Surely MoM has to be Adams, he has had to deal with his teams season starting 2 games later then everyone else..............
  8. Being an international wknd, just wondered when or if ever has the Scotland (or other nation) manager ever visited Caley stadium to scout players, we may have been watched when we played the OF or they may have been a pundit, but has anyone ever seen a current national manager sitting in the stands?
  9. If we continue our form and Billy keeps scoring then the January window is a worry, not just him but Warren, Shinnie, Vincent & Doran may all draw interest from down south and get offers they & club cant refuse. Cant be long before scouts come looking at the wee team top of the league with possible bargain basement buys - can only hope the long journey north puts them off lol.
  10. Lets enjoy the run, lets focus on picking up points while Celtic concentrate on the CL. We have a better squad than last year but as yet we havent had to dip into it and see what the depth is like outside the first 11. Hopefully this international break wont affect our run but I cant see on current form us loosing a game until we next play Celtic. Come January we will get a better picture of how far Celtic will get pushed by us or others, I'd love to say that if we stayed top then the pressure might be too much for Celtic but I fear that its us that may bottle it. Personally I'd like to see a major effort in both cup competitions as I really believe we can make it to Hampden* at least once this season. *before someone posts about Commonwealth games etc .......... I know the cup final venue is TBC
  11. Everyone cites reducing prices, this has a knock on effect - you have to garuntee the extra persons through the gate to still incur the same income, if not overall income drops - this results in less finance for wages, poorer quality on the park and then less people coming to watch and a slow downwards trend - catch 22 IMO. With respect to the price - £26 for an adult main stand, 1 game every 2 wks roughly so thats £13 per wk. When you consider the other 'entertainment' in the city, Cinema is about £9 for an adult, going out for a meal is £10 per person at least, Eden court is not cheap, is the pricing really that bad given the level we have been playing at for the last 18 months and entertainment on offer? Said it before on here, the people of Inverness are lazy and would rather moan - the excuses are farcical and carry no weight - team isnt good enough and not entertaining (cant say that now), stadium is too far away (its a 15 min walk from town), there's no parking, dont like TB etc etc - no matter what the club does there seems to be a mentality that people dont want the club and the success. Its time to talk more about the 2-3000 fans who do go to enhance their experience than going over the same old ground repeatedly, the kids are the future and we just have to accept that perhaps in 5-10 years we will have more of a support. I'd be interested to see 'if' we reached a cup final how many 'fans' would turn out - bet it would be like County, Midden syndrom where 10k extra just suddenly appear but have always ben 'real' fans.
  12. But Anelka never played at ICT for or against us. If you mean globally, then Christian Vieri must be right up there for accumulated transfers?
  13. Midden down with hibs scraping the play off.
  14. I have thought about this and the risks crossing the bridge when it was pointed out to me there is an underpass, so I think we know the council response. The next step would be to close the barrier to stop folks crossing altogether.
  15. I was surprised that Boyd given that fact he is SPL record scorer hasnt managed
  16. Celtic do spend money though on the Lennoxtown facility and youth development, there are a lot of Scottish players who have been through the Celtic youth set up playing at SPFL & higher level, sadly to compete in the CL they need 'instant' quality which means buying foreign talent and with lower resources than those they try to compete against at that level they have to trawl for bargain basement. I'm sure if there were SPFL players deemed to be up to CL level and priced at a realistic level then Celtic would buy them. We cant expect just because they make money in the CL they should donate it all back to develop talent in Scotland for other clubs. Fact is the Scottish national team would probably struggle to get out of most of those CL groups, thats how powerful club football has become over national.
  17. I hope they do well, but the whole CL is a farce - 4th place teams, closed door seeding system, its all about the final 8 being 2 from Spain, 2 from England, 2 from Germany (minimum). Celtic should be happy to be there and getting Eurpoa League from that group would be an achievement. Best thing about the draw is its a chance to show was the Barca results last season a fluke, as they never stop talking about it!!!!
  18. Group A: Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen Group B: Real Madrid, Juventus Group C: Paris St-Germain, Olympiakos Group D: Bayern Munich, Manchester City Group E: Chelsea, Schalke Group F: Borussia Dortmund, Napoli Group G: Atletico Madrid, Zenit St Petersburg Group H: Barcelona, AC Milan, Ajax, Celtic
  19. Not bad at all, dont mind a trip to Dens. Think I will head down to this :)
  20. Tbh the way we are playing just now id take anyone as we are more than capable - perfer to avoid celtic at this stage. Revenge over hearts would be good tho.
  21. Both hearts and dons had to rely on pens to beat lower league teams. Should and could have been more shock results.
  22. Shinniesta opened his Birmingham account tonight in the cup
  23. If Rooney goes to Chelsea then we should be offering Billy to fill the void, he would be better off there. Its quite selfish of him as a player to come out on a Sat, score goals and take wages when all the time trying to get us into a league place which will cripple the club if we ever had the misfortune to play in Europe - and dont start me on the cups and the expense he is going to cause us fans by helping win games. If anything he should be first out the door followed by all the rest of these glory seekers at the club, coming here, doing their best and trying to bring success - lets get Tade, Gillet & Barrowman back - players who we could be proud of...............
  24. If we start the game fast and go at hearts, they have good fighting spirit but if we get 2 up I think the young lads heads will drop and we have to push on. its literally men v boys so we need the players to make their experience count.
  25. Agree with all of the above. Same team, but I would like to see the subs get a bit longer and see what some of the new boys are all about - hopefully we can get a big enough lead that the game is over by around 70mins to let Terry try that.
