Having seen the cringeworthy antics of some parents at street league and youth level, some seem to assume if wee Johnny is "training with the Caley/County" they are virtually semi professional and it's merely a matter of time before their wee prodigy is spotted and moved on to greater things, it must come as a great blow to discover the next Dalglish isn't coming from their family!
  2. 3 hoors 43 !! taks me near that to drive it some days if there's too many tractors aboot! Well done sir i doff my dark blue bunnet to ya, hope the wee guy gets a fair few quid in the account from yer efforts
  3. Aye, go on then Davie, put me doon for ?20,wee guys been through the mill and deserves a break. Eh'll guess at fehv hours fifty fehv meenits ;-)
  4. First and foremost I'd like to make clear I hugely admire the vision and financial bravery of investors involved in the developement of Castle Stuart and understand the massive benefits etc involved for the area. That said, let's not kid on this is close to being the best test of links golf in Scotland or even the North East. A lot is subjective but Nairn and Dornoch are both far superior in variety and test of skill. Loch Lomond,Castle Stuart and Rennaisance where the Scottish will move to next all have one thing in common, they are all built by investors who have vested interests in raising the profile of their course and the coverage of having a Europen tour event hosted makes the course a "must play" for thousand of cash rich American and Japanese golf tourists. The Ryder cup being awarded to Celtic Manor was blatant corporate manipulation, with dozens of courses more "worthy" of hosting the event but money talks so a brand new course on the side of a hill overlooking a power station was awarded this prestigious and hugely lucrative event. The term "championship course" is slapped glibly onto every new course built these days but very few new ventures could hold a candle to Brora, Tain or Lossie. I am not naive and understand the requirement for investment and corporate support, and sympathise hugely with the investors for the losses incurred but let's not kid on this is about testing golf courses,it's about money, plain and simple. Hopefully lessons will be learned, the course will be toughened up,the investors and corporate backers will make shed loads of money and the weather will be just a wee bit kinder next year.
  5. As I understand it,it was provisionally 3 years with options. It was always moving from Loch Lomond this year due to financial problems there and originally was due to move to the Rennaisance course in East Lothian but 3 holes were deemed unacceptable and Castle Stuart was awarded the Scottish open. With THE open being held at Muirfied which is "over the wall" from the Rennaisance in 2013 I reckon Castle Stuart will keep the Scottish for 3 years as planned, any other decision would be extremely harsh IMO,and it will then move to Rennaisance as planned. Looks positive
  6. My thoughts exactly! When pro's can reach par 4's with a 5 iron there's something no quite right. I understand wanting birdies and eagles to make viewing more exciting but it has to be with skill and guile not just due to several holes which are patently too easy. IMHO the fairways need tightening up and possibly some more strategic bunkering. That said, all credit to all concerned on the building of the course and bringing a competition of this calibre to the area, and well done for dragging it back from the brink and getting a successful if not so exciting conclusion.I'm sure lessons will be learned and next year will be great experience.
  7. Just about the worst scenario possible for the organisers and sponsors. So many folk put so much effort, energy and no small financial input to make this a fantastic event for the area, only for freak localised extreme water to wreak havoc. Hopefully weather holds the morn so a conclusion can be reached or the games a bogey :irritated:
  8. Shame the weather, which is the only element the organisers have no control over is causing such problems,I am along in Buckie just now and we had a fantastic round of golf last night in beautiful summer evening sunshine, hard to believe the difference in a few miles. Agree with Charles about the cringeworthy Harry Potter railway stuff for the tourists, I was shouting at the telly when they were running that, but otherwise the portrayal of the area and coverage is first class. Just as well Neil Lennons no a golfer or he'd be jumpin up and doon blaming the groundsman for not keeping the course playable In monsoons
  9. Well done Mr and Mrs Paulibee, thought ye's had gone quite for a while, sleepless nights and stinky nappies for the next wee while ....Enjoy

  16. Don't think anyone is surprised, but very frustrating when it is blatantly obvious bungs and corruption are rife and fat cats control and can do exactly what they wish at the highest level. It stinks all the way from bottom to top and needs sponsors to withdraw to have any impact.Probably not in my life time then :irritated:
  17. Hmmm, after considering the merits of candidates standing i think i'll abstain

Lucas from Liverpool and a well known Inverness busker
  25. Dinnae think you need to be Poirot or Sherlock to deduce the guy in the picture is a nutter, intent on causing trouble, noising up the support and is a generally dislikable character,he should be banned from all football grounds forthwith The Hearts fan should get in trouble as well!!
