  1. It's a beautiful place although you have to watch out for the highland cows!
  2. It was the west wing of Crown House which was last occupied by my wife's grandparents till the early 70's. It was left to ruin, later demolished and a modern house built in it's place which is now part of the Crown Medical Practice.
  3. IHE and weeman would have passed this on the way to school.

    Ferries

The blue and red cars are both Vauxhall Viva Mk2 & the yellow one is a Ford Capri. In Stornoway there is an Austin Maxi and green Bedford CF van
  5. I will be happy if we get football back when it is safe for the players and fans regardless of which league we are in and hope our club survives. The people that are calling the shots are looking at their own self interest not what is best for all of us, it's all down to money and greed!
  6. I am sure some may remember this old house in town.
  7. A modern one should be easy.

    Ferries

The Suilven is in Stornoway at the old pier which is now used for freight. The smaller ferry is in Stornoway you can see the 3 chimneys on the power station but no idea what the boat is, Mantis might know. Slightly off topic. The hospital run by Nuns would be the Sacred Heart Hospital in Daliburgh, South Uist which is now a care home where I used to visit a cousin when I was on my travels. They kept the main part of the building built in 1894 demolished the rest and built the home.
  10. And I thought it was a ghost!
  11. You were right with the Clapper Bridge Aultbea. That is Pluscarden Abbey I had a look on my phone today and thought the hills behind were to big but I am sure that's right.
  12. It would be to hard if I put this in the Out of town thread! It is likely someone was getting a new fire place fitted.
  13. I think weeman might get this one he seems to be good at shops but what is the bridge called?
  14. I didn't know that was there not as big as some that I have seen

Just got round to listening listening to The Christie Legacy and it is the best one yet, and the sound quality was much better which I know will not be easy at present well done again guys. If you haven't listened don't be put of by the length of the podcast.
  16. I don't know that one was having a look just now.
  17. You will need to try us with the photo for June On my last one the Germans tried to bomb it during WW2.
  18. I think that is what our club may have to do to survive along with many other clubs. If it happens you can claim the credit for the idea Kingsmills
  19. You are right weeman
  20. It was built as an industrial building and was in use as a fish farm the last time I was there. In the late 60's William Tawse were renovating it at a time when I used to go out in the van with my father in the holidays when he visited sites to repair any machines that broke down and while he was working I went for a wander into the building not knowing the cement on the floor was still wet. I walked backwards in my footsteps and cleared of pretty quick
  21. Another old building what was it and where?
  22. Aye just a bit like the Dundee vote Who knows what is likely to happen
  23. I just put that in as he has been on so many ferries now just see if you are right!
