John Hughes
if you look at our fixtures over January February, it is quite a difficult period, and if Richie Foran is out for a while, it makes the task doubly difficult. We will in many ways see the difference Richie makes to this team, just as much as John Hughes does. However, we have done exceptionally well up to now this season, due to brilliant team performances, and also a reasonable fixture list more in our favour than against. Now the second half of the season appears to hand us a more difficult task the way the fixture come at us. At the start of the season, with last season weighing on our shoulders, we had bigger expectations. most would be happy top 6, some and a good number at that expect as much as hope Europe is our place. But that means top 3 or a Scottish cup win. Yogi will keep the ship steady with a top 6 finish, however, I do also think that 2nd or 3rd may also be down to the appointments of McNamara at Utd, and McInnes at Dons. Both with much bigger budgets and attraction power. McCall appears to be continuing his good work at Motherwell, so if we remain in the battle for the top 5 i will be happy. Next season will be the marker, and to be brutally honest, most of us will hope for top 6. So far, we would not have been suprised by the results over the last month if Tel and Mo were still here. We have relied very heavily this season on Mckay scoring, Forans drive, and our defence being excellent in the main. Test comes if Billy goes dry, Foran's out injured, and our defence loses confidence. I like Yogi's style of football, as long as its not all along the back line. With the right forward players, as we have right now, we can maintain our lofty place in Scottish football. Herte's hoping 2014 continues as 3013 has

Crowds up?
Crowds appear up at the moment, but its likely due to us playing teams with an away support. Kingsmills yes Celtic games have had over 7000 in the past, but they have always attracted less to TCS than Rangers for some reason, and all games with Celtic this season has been attracting less fans as there is nobody really competing with them over the whole season. When we get a run of home games Dons, Celts and the Co*nty ( Oh I was tempted there ) it will be disappointing not to get more than 16,000 for the 3 games. Certainly more than Dingwall are getting this season - Dougal and his mates must have stopped going this season eh. Aberdeen is 3-4 times the population of Inverness at least, so they should be getting 15,000 at games. Celtic at home games just now look more than half empty ( no exaggeration ) indeed it is quite shocking how much paying customers they have lost, whereas Rangers somehow appear to still be getting 40,000+. Only clubs with increases this season will likely be Dundee Utd, Dons up a bit, Hibs now, and us by a small amount probably. The rest, are likely to be down or very near the same.

Inverness CT -V- Celtic
Although we didnt look to be as aggressive against Celtic, after losing a goal in two minutes we could have had a right hiding. The fact Celtic didn't play too well could have been down to our players preventing them from steam rolling over us, and Celtic's strength in midfield and full backs prevented ICT from getting at them too much. Forster did have a busier day then usual, even though most saves you would expect most keepers to make. We will no matter what miss Richie's drive and determination in the team, and it is important the team do not dwell on this, with important games v County, Well and Arabs coming up. The point about Motherwell hammering Plastic Whistle whereas we couldnt, did anyone see the amount of mistakes the other Jags defence made. We need a bit more aggression v County tomorrow, along with the ball retention, as I'm sure they will be targeting the fact that Foran will be in the stand.

Think it maybe shows some refs are giving us a little bit more respect. However, if he was booked or sent off, would he have given a penalty to Celtic!!!!!! I wonder if there is anything in the rule book to cover the ref getting in the way of the defender. Well done Ross, although I do think what he said as he pushed him may have had a bearing on the way the ref reacted

Celtics fans reputation in tatters
Supported, if you could call it supported, Liverpool from my earliest memories, before I supported any Scottish team. This was purely because I had an Aunt who lived 300 yards away from Anfield, and went to some games there when on holiday over a few years, when I was 4 - 7 years old. Unfortunately never been back since. This was all before we moved back to Inverness from Beauly, and before I found Inverness Thistle. Been a fan of both ever since, developing into ICT, but although I watch and support Liverpool every game, would never be in the Reds end if we were lucky enough to meet them in Europe. Back to Celtic, agree they are making the right noises, but I do still think they underestimate how nasty some of their support is, and Rangers for that matter. It seems to be ignored by the press most of the time. Had issues with Rangers fans spitting at us once, but its happened at Celtic Park three times. The worst of which was when Thistle played at Parkhead in the cup, Thistle nearly scored when it was nil nil, and we were all of a sudden rained on with spit as they had let a couple of thousand Celtic fans into the away end. Kids were sent into our group to urinate on our feet with the warning shouted touch him and yer dead, one of the kids even too a crap in amongst us. Left at half time vowing to never return. Didn't learn my lesson though. Celtic should be fined and Motherwell awarded the points, or purely Celtic deducted the 3 points and given a very hefty fine. Rangers should get the same for the damage caused to Falkirks pitch. Financial penalties do not effect the fans who cause the problem, closing the stadium to the offending fans does - but dont ban the oppositions fans. We will see how the SFA deal with this after their light hearted ban to the Utd throat grabber and eye poker, and Gers Blackie, another small tap on the knuckles and suspended fine or something sounds about right

Celtics fans reputation in tatters
It seems to me the constant mentioning of Celtics self titled best fans in the world is exploding in their faces at the moment. Its been mentioned continually over the last few years about the amount of trouble they are causing away from home, at friendlies. Can not really suprise any one, apart from Celtic fans themselvses. Rangers have quite rightly been tarnished in the media over the last few years but I've always thought they are as bad as each other, Seem to remember numbers of seats getting damaged at TCS by them both in the past. Celtic fans even carrying knives into games, and stabbings amongst themselves ( did that also happen up here?) Thing is, this current troubles, is it down to the Green Brigade solely, or are other fans getting involved. Celtic sell their away tickets, not the home teams, so it should be very easy for them to identify the culprits, and ban them from all football grounds. We do not need this scum in the scottish game, as it gets labeled as Scottish hooligans everywhere else.

Radio Scotland coverage WORSE THAN USELESS
Was that because he had excluded Celtic from the league, so the battle is between Aberdeen and Dundee Utd for second behind Inverness Caley Thistle.

The Hughes Poll
tbh never even considered Yogi to be in the running, but hey now that it looks like he has the job. We will see decent, on the deck footie. He is good at developing youff, has a big presence and is a big character. Passionate about his football and to the point as i remember him. Still remember the day we were relegated, and lets say Butcher was out manouvered by Hughes Bairns, whose tactics werent pretty that day but who stayed up. I look forward to watching some great on the eye football, but with players a bit more talented than his Bairns team, which points to good times. Lets get behind Yogi, and the team. Remember we got a semi final to win in February, come on Yogi's Army.

BT wins Champions League rights
Alex, It was on Radio Scotland yesterday that the new BT deal will mean the team qualifying from Scotland will get an added £ 7 million for getting to the group stages. English clubs will get more than £ 7 million each. Therefore if Celtic are earning around 12 million for getting to the group stages this season, when the BT deal kicks in they will be getting near £ 20 million. That is 7 times our annual budget, and thats just one competition, forget their league and cup, sponsors and season tickets. To get a share of that we need to finish second, and hope that Celtic get a run in Europe to get the country co-efficient up allowing 2 teams into the Champs league, oh damn AC Milan messed that up

The new manager thread
Maybe getting permission to talk to Hartley just to get the low down on Morton for this weekend. I hope not, hope he interviews well,as everything else seems to fit in place with him. Can see him being a great success, Paddy Connelly with him, and an otherwise unknown talent scout he may want to recruit. Encouraged by todays developments, big style

The price of players in the SPL
A player who is scoring goals for a small Premiership club should be worth more than the player scoring for the big club, depending on where they are in the leagues too. Rylan Gauld is being quoted at £ 6m, bigger club so he has talent, but 6 million!!!!! Hooper went for £ 5m, scoring a similar number of goals as to Billy Mckay, but playing in a team creating an awful lot more chances than ICT. So how many would Hooper score for us, and how many would Mckay score for them. Want a bet that one would be scoring a hat full more given the chances Celtic create. Stevie May worth £ 800,000, I think they may be undervaluing him at that, compared to the others. ICT should expect bidding to start well above £ 1m for Mckay, if they were to even consider any offers.

Who will Butcher try to get from ICT in Jan
Maybe he would want Kenny Cameron!
-
The new manager thread
Did Kenny Cameron say how many was on the shortlist, or are folk just presuming there are 4 names. Craig Brown's name was mentioned a lot last time, and I was almost slashing my wrists, and it took a few years of Butcher to get over that. Now I hear the trigger words Sutton and Shiels and all those thoughts are returning I just dont see the attraction of either, even for an interview

Who will Butcher try to get from ICT in Jan
You never know, out of respect for his time in Inverness, he may not come calling to rob us of our better players

The new manager thread
I heard that Alex Miller, former Hibs manager, Liverpool Assistant Manager has applied for the post. Has been managing and coaching in Russia and Japan of late. Not bowled over by him, but experienced. Rather a young determined manger from the lower leagues looking to improve on his early success in his first post. Thankfully seeeeeethe has declared himself not in the running. Did not even think he would have been, and we are not big enough for Levein - hope that comes back to bite him, maybe he is holding out for the Barca job since he was the first to use their 4-6-0 formation

Richie Foran Signs On With ICT!
What a boost. The lure of staying at ICT was stronger than following Terry and Mo. Now everyone should give our Captain the respect he deserves. And support the team in numbers.

Who do you want? Poll
At the moment I can not see past the two favorites. Levein and Hartley, one very experienced and one up and coming hungry manager. Levein is the safe hands option, and I beleive if he took the job on he would completely change our youth system, for the better. Not saying the youth coaches aren't good enough, it the way the training is done I think. Dundee Utd and Hearts youth are testament to that with players being quoted as worth £millions. The evidence is that Levein does very well at club level, and can find very excellent footballers without spending money. Dundee Utd were looked as being the best footballing team outwith the old firm, played on the deck with players to suit. His days at Hearts were very different, as he was given players who were the Chairmans choice. If we want to remain as a force in Scottish football, finish in the top half more often then this is the best option. Hartley was talked about on Radio Scotland yesterday. Became manager of Alloa in the third division, pre season they had ONE player signed for the up coming season, so he put a team together that won the league that season, following season got them promoted via the playoffs and now sit 4th in the Championship. Young, talented, determined, and seemingly old school manager who does it by the book. He was a winner as a player, and seems to be taking that on into management. Never liked him as a player, but that was probably because he always played well against us and hurt us, and always appeared to give 100% for Perth, Hibs, Hearts, Dons and Celts. Paul Hartley can obviously spot a player, but can he do it at SPFL level. I think he could, but its more of a gamble than Levein. They all thought that Hartley would not be at Alloa much longer, as every vacancy now would have him connected. I feel we should stop the rumours and make Paul Hartley ours, and take the wee gamble. Both appear deep thinkers about the game, rather than being all mouth. As for the other names being touted, non really excite me, most really annoy and depress me. Jimmy Calderwood has probably been out of the game too long now, but although I dont like him much, I think in time he would be good for us. Barry Wilson, too much of a step up from HL to SPFL to be No1 but a very good shout as No 2. Kenny Shiels would be the worst choice in my opinion, as bad as a Neil Lennon with foot in mouth comments, and still can not forgrt his complaint about having to travel all the way up that A9, well every second week you would have to travel down that A9, Alex McLeish - no chance, we are not big enough for him at this stage of his career. Said as much on Radio Scotland yesterday. Di Canio, Di Matteo etc - Dream on, we couldnt afford them, and one I would never ever let near our dug out. Paul Sheerin - Again better as a No 2 at this stage. Has done well in management, but hasn't stood out IMO. Kenny Cameron has said in a statement that we have had applications from all over Europe, and from South America. It would be intreging to find out the credentials of these people. Is it Ossie Ardiles, and some Spanish and Italian managers who are out of work. But the danger of that is they try to take in what they know, and a team full of 6 or 7 unknown Spanish or Italian players is not the way forward for our classy team. Onwards and upwards, Hartley or Levein please Kenny

Ritchie on Radio Scotland
Bang on Mary H, Reading between the lines, his 50/50 is between his loyalty to Tel and Mo, and his enjoyment of our success. What I think he means with his decision in a few weeks will be based on who the new man is, and if he is offered a player coaching roll by the unknown new manager. If he were to go to Hibs, and Bitcher lasted two years, I've no doubt he would join the coaching staff with Tel and Mo, but will they turn Hibs around, will they last the two years, that would be a risky decision. He would be much better off finacally if it worked out, however ICT are definitely the more secure choice,

CJT cup semi final statement
Now thats lateral thinking !! Loving it Nah, most Dingwall fans would support Hearts. Completely neutral would be Grant Street Park, Merkinch. See if any Hearts fans would be happy at that. We get three sides of the stadium, they get the wee stand. Fair play!

The new manager thread
Sorry. I just can not understand why anyone would be touting Kevin MacDonald for manager, coach yes, manager no. His record was so similar to Mo Malpas and spookily both were disasters at Swindon Town. Gus MacPherson had his teams play anti football, defensive low scorers. Kenny Shiels nah big mouth strikes again. Would cost the club too much in fines with the strange decisions we seem to get off many refs. Seems to be between Craig Levein and Paul Hartley with the fans. I think both would be safe, and be likely to keep us up at our current dizzy heights. Levein had a good record against the Dons and Perth, whereas Hartley played for them both. Levein is certainly determined and really good with the youth and club set up, Hartley was a winner as a player, and seems to be a winner as a manager - he can also spot a decent player, as when he signed for Alloa they only had a couple of players signed, and they won the league. Levein to me would be safe, Hartley could be a hidden gem. The latter to me would be the more likely to move on to a bigger club
