  1. The first toy i remember was a large blue & red plastic tractor which has a working steering wheel. To this day i can still get the smell of it from some plastics which flood in the memories, funny how a smell can bring it all back...... nobody mention farts please. Action man was a feckin great toy.
  2. Lawrence was a cracker alright! played footie aganst him when he urned out for Gellions in the old welfare league. He used to hang out in the front bar in the Gellions much to his wife's annoyance, I remember one evening he was stationed at the usual place, when the wife phoned to enquire if he was there, Dave Irvine who took the call said in a loud voice ' Anyone seen Lawrence ? of course Lawrence was waving his arms in the background from side to side mouthing 'no no', this happend again 15 minutes later to the same result. 30 Sseconds later she walked in the door and stood behind him, and shouted 'ANYONE SEEN LAWRENCE' he near hit the feckin roof! :015: She had phoned from across the road!
  3. 'Some marvellous memories here but lets not forget the cordon bleu delights of the Morrisons greasy spoon in the market arcade.' What has this to do with Eastgate and Italians Dave? :015: But i do recall going into Morrisons for Pie and Beans, and having to sit beside to wifee's yapping away about the bingo, smoking players number 10 non stop.. The restaurant opposite the Post Office was the Balmoral.
  4. Brilliant Alan... :015: By the way you forgot to include that nice Dutch physio lassie Pert Nipple. Cant wait to hear the England squad.
  5. Eva still has the EVA11 reg, she was married to local heart throb( so the wife tells me) Drew Ross the singer who along with David Balfe started the group Sunshine, who had a number of hits and starred on Top of the Pops on a number of occasions.
  6. The Serafini's ran the Locarno, where i learnt to smoke.. " 5 park drive, book of matches, tea and a pie missus" - lovely jubbly. The house on Culduthel road belonged to Mario Bernardi, overlooking the town at the start of Godsmans walk, his son Peter still live there i think. The brother of Mario ran a hairdressers in Academy street, cant remember the name of it, just past the market entrance, where the school uniform shop is now.
  7. Yeah, maybe not a bad thing though. By the way, recognise quite a few faces in the pic, anyone name them all?
  8. There were 2 Dorando's shops, Run by Bianco and Henry Turriani, Bianco ran the excellent sweet shop at the market entrance from Church street, and Henry ran the cafe opposite the Phoenix. I used to pal about with Bianco's son, and if we were lucky we would get a wee sample of the wonderful selection of sweets. Renato, Henry's son is an ex jeggie stalwart, used to do the catering at Kingsmills,Telford street, and for a while at the Caledonian stadium.
  9. CC was saying that they are setting up the pre-season training camp for Italy, wonder if there will be any games organised? i'm needing a wee break. and Italy is very nice!
  10. Just heard the news on the radio, no Intertoto for us! maybe its not a bad thing, Richie Hart said they could now concentrate on pre-season and will try to get european footie the normal way.
  11. 'swanning about in Dundee looking at houses! ' Should that not read 'looking for houses' which is in itself a hard task in Dundee.
  12. 'Now, Barry Robson is a better player than all 4 on his day' :015: Alright, you have just proved what a *** you are. Its obvious that you are seeing the world through orange specs, the third top goalscorer in Scotland is worth more than 60k, however Brew is interested in Black and Proctor - no more untill he off loads some of the flotsam that is parading about Tannadice at present. If you want to see the future for Dee utd, just go alaong the street pal. And dont forget, Robson was a 1st div player at the time.
  13. Cheeky *****... course in your loft is the collection of 'used ' Kays catalogues :016:
  14. Just what i was about to comment on Kingsmills, we are surely due a home game to start the season! St Mirren is my wee tip!
  15. This will now be the thread where 'older' members of the board can have a good moan. Today my rant is feckin seagulls, ****** birds who i wish would feck off back to sea where they belong. Just spent an hour cleaning crap off the front of the garage and 3 cars, and they are seemingly protected, so we cant get the 12 bore out. What good do they bring to the world?
  16. Fair bit of typing Mannie! Dundee had some good players in those days eh. Must go and check the loft, lots of old programmes somewhere.
  17. Read a copy of an e.mail which states the following: 'I can confirm that the 2006/07 season starts on Saturday 29th July 2006 with the last game being playing on Sunday 20th May 2007 (SFA Cup final to take place Saturday 26th May). The fixtures will be published on Thursday 22nd June 2006 So..everyone have there hols fininshed by 29th July...
  18. Feckin saddo's... i will now not buy mars bars!!!! never bought them before mind you.. :003:
  19. 'It just shows how far we have come that 11 years ago we lost to East Stirling and ALbion Rover in front of less than 500 people' Agree.. however you are maybe a bit young to have seen us play under Baltacha! the crowds improved when Pele came along.

The stock investment tips are a fluke, but the other one...maybe they know something?
  21. Our own RIG is a bit of a red squirrel buff... the real furry ones that is not the jambo one.
  22. But would Arsenil gave preferred to let advantage be played, go a goal down but keep the keeper on? I think they would still have been beat.. But how the commentators annoy my ***.. oh the shyte that comes out is desperate.. the one where Ronaldinho misses a snap shot, the commentator says with a very smug, sarcastic comment ' ho ho best player in the world eh?' Plonker.
  23. A freshen up is probably on the cards and has been needed for a while in the SFL, I can see a set up whereby we have the SPL, and an SPL2/Championship with 2 or 3 regional leagues fighting for a place/places in the SPL2. This would cut costs for smaller clubs and make travelling easier for fans.
  24. 'Ye canna beat a bit o' Bert Kaempfert's Swinging Safari!! ' Sounds like a code for a bit of trouser trunk fondling ?
  25. Whats wrong with Caff? I'd prefer the Golly of old cos i'm not a great fan of Hastings, but Golly will never be the same as he used to be. I'm sure we could do better than either.
