I genuinely don't want to be critical of County but what is the point of having undersoil heting to combat the effects of frost if even a modest rainfall causes one of their biggest games of the season to be called off over 24 hours in advance ? It provides fuel for those based in the central belt who believe the Highlands to be unworthy of hosting SPL football and in this particular instance they may just have a point.

Damn. I have no excuse now for avoiding a round of family visits tomorrow. Doubt I will manage any rescheduled midweek game.

In the old Highland League days the old simple solution would be to switch venues. Still happens in the Highland League to this day. Don't suppose such a common sense solution could possibly prevail in the SPL.

Agreed, will due respect to Laurence, he hardly set the heather on fire when he did briefly ply his trade in the SPL some time ago.

I am just glad that the rate of criminality in the Highlands has fallen to such a minimal rate that the police have time to concentrate on such harmless, trivial matters.

This is the first time since our elevation to the SPL that I personally have not had some lingering fear of relegation at the turn of the year. Congratulations and many thanks to Terry, Mo and all the boys. If the second half of the season is anything like as successful and entertaining as the first I will be a very contented Jaggie indeed.

Not to mention a windfall of at least £400,000 if we do beat Hearts and progress to the final of the League Cup and very much increased SPL prize money if we finish in the top three or four. If this success continues turnover will be up by over a million on last year even if the crowd figures do remain frustratingly static.

I am 50 and had a brief infantile flirtation with Glasgow Rangers but grew out of it by the age of ten when I was old enough to appreciate just what they and their fans espoused.For the last 40 years my big teams have been Inverness Thistle and ICT although I must confess a soft spot for Clach as my late father supported them all his days and never quite forgave me for my red and black affiliations.

Before I ask "which one", could someone confirm that that's George Junior rather than Dougie behind George Senior? I think it's "young" George but both Messrs Rodgers, whoever the younger one is, indeed do look very happy - and rightly so. It's a good book on Clach in which I think Rodwill Clyne may also have had at least a hand. I'm guessing the photo may be of the celebrations after Clach winning the Highland League title in 1975. There's an interesting post script to that, beacuse the League Flag, normally raised on the first day of the season at home, wasn't raised in 1975 at Grant Street until into September which is a fact I stumbled across purely by accident a few weeks ago. The key to this mystery is possibly in who Clach's opponents were that day. Beacuse the away team was none other than Caley and my theory is that the Clachers delayed the ceremony until they had the opportunity to perform it right in the faces of their neighbours and local rivals! I was referring to George senior. Believe that is young George behind but, like yourself, not entirely certain.
