  1. There are no clearly outstanding candidates. I suspect that Spartans may be admitted as the best of a bad bunch.
  2. The problem is that the league and Gretna's administrators have dithered sp long that they haven't left much time for that process to be carried out.
  3. I agree with all that's been said. Bobby was vey shabbily treated by Ross County when they dismissed him given what he'd achieved for them in the past on extremely limited resourses.
  4. He's being paid ?15,000 a week to warm the Parkhead bench. Way out of our league !
  5. Makes a change for the club to be proactive on these matters rather than risking leaving it too late.
  6. They seem to be the only Highland League team keen to gain entry this time. The Elgin City exoerience has deterred a lot of others.
  7. Since when have the various authorities that run Scottish football been logical or consistant. That said, I believe that, in the circumstances, Gretna have been treated very fairly.
  8. I thought that the figure was closer to ?3,000 a day. In any event, a welcome windfall.
  9. Totally agree, that's the best way to do business.
  10. I thought that only players were eligible, if not then Pele would top my list.
  11. I see that they have been included in today's draw for the first round of the Challenge Cup. I presume that if they're replaced in the league whichever team joins the SFL in their place will play Clyde in their stead.
  12. Where they play next season is not the main question, the real issue is will they exist at all and that doesn't seem to be any closer to resolution. The new season starts in ten weeks time. Surely in fairness to the teams waiting to apply for league entry that matter needs to be resolved in the next few days. In my opinion if Gretna are not in a position to guarantee that they will be able to take up their place in the SFL by this time next week they should be expelled from the league so that a new member can be selected and given at least some time to prepare for the step up.
  13. I think that's right and while I expect that there will be a loss it shouldn't be huge especially given that there was quite a surplus on transfer activity during the financial year. If there are huge losses after consecutive years of modest profits then that's not down to Niculae's salary alone and somebody needs to explain themselves but I can't, for the life of me, see how the losses could be that bad.
  14. Sounds as though he's set on a move to England. I wouldn't be surprised to see him team up with Owen Coyle at Burnley.
  15. Just as long as it doesn't look like a Rangers top again. The current top is the best yet by far. I hope any changes are not too radical.
  16. A bit off topic but while the company will almost certainly post a loss for the financial year I don't believe the figures will be that bad and should not be a significant factor in determining Niculae's future at the club.
  17. but to whom ?
  18. Spain or Italy who always come good for the big tournaments. Top scorer; Marius Niculae !
  19. Quite right, he neither has the hair or the tongue.
  20. I'm not surprised either, ICT always seem to do their transfer business in a hurried manner very late in the day.
  21. Not much there that anyone could seriously disagree with.
  22. His salary is already provided for in the budget for next season. Unless we get a seven figure offer I,for one, would like to see the club at least attempt to secure him on a longer contract.
  23. My five nominees, in alphabetical order only, are; Charlie Christie Paul Sheerin Iain Stewart Brian Thomson Dennis Wyness
  24. Over rated and, most importantly in the context of Euro 2008, not there !
  25. Romania because of the Marius connection but Spain must be the greatest underachievers of all time on the international stage and I'd like to see them do well.
