  1. Yes, but its thousands we would need to add if we were to have a fourth stand or a new location. Personally I don't like the ground or it's location but I do like the team. Spend money now on major ground changes and that would be at the expense of the team. We just need to make the best of what we've got.
  2. Mind you, as far as hazards on the roads are concerned, there are dangers and then there are dangers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-23918707
  3. The issue is that the lights are optimised for normal traffic flows in which there are a small number of north travelling cars turning right. Transport Scotland need to have a 'match day setting' which is enabled 11/2 hrs prior to kick-off. There will still be traffic delays but not the nonsense that happens at the moment. But it doesn't work during normal peak times. Living North of the bridge I head towards the bridge after work and there are nearly always sufficient vehicles stuck at the red light for turning right onto stadium road that cars in the right hand lane and heading north are blocked. Many try to edge round the stationary vehicles and risk being hit bt those in the left hand lane. To be fair, I think the long periods the lights give at green do allow better traffic flow overall but it is at the expense of some dangerous situations developing. It is also very frustrating sitting at red lights at times of low volume traffic when there is absolutely no traffic going through the green lights. I'm afraid the council has an unhealthy obsession with traffic lights. There are now so many in Nairn you can see them from space.
  4. Keep talking - maybe someone will come and take him off our hands in January.
  5. A fourth stand for flags and visiting supporters Alternatively we could use any increase in revenue we may get to consolidate the club's financial position and invest in the playing staff in order to get the best product on the park. In that way we at least have some chance of filling some the empty seats we currently have
  6. I agree that traffic management needs looking at. Traffic was very slow moving in both directions on the A9. It took me 20 minutes from joining the end of the queue on the bridge to reach the roundabout and the queues were worse on the Northbound approach. I wonder to what extent this sort of congestion puts folk off going. That was with a fairly moderate crowd and crowds of the size we would like to see and which the team deserve will only make the congestion much worse.
  7. Apparently Butcher agrees. said in post-match interview that Vincent is the PK taker and that he bollocked him out for being sentimental and handing the ball to BM. I agree that Vincent should have taken it, but should it not be Foran who got the bollocking? He's the captain on the park and should have ensured that the designated penalty taker did the job the manager gave him.
  8. There were a couple of Jambos walking behind me after the match and one of them summed it up for me. He said "I'm disappointed but it's not a disaster. I was expecting to lose but at the end of the season it could come down to goal difference and I'm relieved we only lost by 2 - it could've been double figures!" There will be times when despite being totally dominant, the ball just won't go in. I'm just glad it happened today when we were already 2 up. Should acknowledge the great away support. They came in numbers and despite the fact that their team was totally outclassed, they never stopped singing. That must give great encouragement to their young and inexperienced team.
  9. My money's on Boyd to reach the target before Stokes then.
  10. This is why it is so important for teams to get into the group stages. I would be over the moon if I was a celtic supporter. They are playing against 3 superb clubs with great histories. Whether they are bottom of the group or not, they will have had 3 fantastic nights at Celtic Park, not forgetting the excitement of this week's win to get them there. It is what their season is all about. It must be great for our players to see what Celtic are doing in Europe and to reflect that we are deservedly ahead of them in the league. It should give us belief, as fans, that we too can make it into Europe next season and get a win or two and perhaps a shot at a well known European side. Success for Celtic in Europe is good for Scottish football. Good luck to them I say. They sure as hell will need it in that group.
  11. We should be professional enough to beat any of the non seeded teams. I would be interested to play Falkirk and see how Roberts gets on against us. He seems to be making a real impression there. But what tonight proves is that no team can be taken for granted. Even lowly Stranraer seemed to be worthy winners against a pretty full strength County side. County apparently only managed 4 shots all night! Of course, it could simply be that County are sh*te.
  12. County fans clearly not wanting to go anywhere near Glasgow with the threat of a sheep sacrifice before the Celtic game tomorrow.
  13. The great Andy Barrowman scored for Livingston against Airdrieonians.
  14. If you needed to see it several more times before making your mind up then it was hardly a clear penalty . The referee probably wasn't at the best angle to see but the linesman should have stuck to his original impression but maybe saw he was getting no support from the ref. He probably didn't want to antagonise 50,000 celtic fans either. Doran should have passed or shot before he was fouled but, a foul is a foul and a penalty it should have been.
  15. Didn't seem to harm the Arabs and County. Fans of Stenhousemuir must think a 4-2 lead in the 88th minute is a bit risky. That was the position they were in yesterday at home to the Pars - and then contrived to lose 5-4
  16. If I am going hopefully it will be via Paris Hilton Hmm. Could be a bit of a rough ride.
  17. To be fair to the guy, once he heard the name "pineapple" he did know that was the stuff that came in chunks - but how on earth does he work out how to get them out of the tin?
  18. It's a good time to play Celtic as they have to focus on winning by 3 goals on Wednesday. If they lose to us they will still be confident of winning the league, but failure on Wednesday would be a disaster for them. I am sure there will be a good few changes in their side although those that get a chance to shine will be looking to impress. We've beaten them when we've had worse sides and they've had better, so I think we can go down to Parkhead with realistic optimism.
  19. It's not just us. St Johnstone are one of the main contenders and got less than 3,000 at the weekend whilst less than 1,000 turned up to watch Hamilton go top of the "Championship". There is no easy answer. Society has changed. Nothing will turn a 3,000 crowd into a 4,000 crowd overnight but keep playing attractive stuff and winning and the crowds will edge back up.
  20. How good are Partick and how bad are County? Appreciate these are only brief highlights but County look as though they can count themselves very lucky to lose by only 2 goals. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/23659265
  21. Did someone tell you it was a pigeon? You're a bit gullible if you believe that! I think it got substituted for a Utd player who was also useless on the wing.
  22. We should be looking to win this with an unchanged line up.
  23. Great win for Northern Ireland in the match that mattered tonight. It's a shame that Billy didn't get on but I'm sure he will get his chance later in the year.
  24. But we are the intelligent people. This debate is far too important to be left to the politicians.
  25. Those clubs that attract a good crowd in proportion to their catchment area tend to be those where there is a tradition of folk going to the football and this has been passed down from father to son. Football becomes an important part of the local culture and sucks in incomers as well. It is so much harder to attract big crowds where there is not that tradition behind you, particularly when many of the older generation in particular have developed a strong allegiance to one of the traditional "big clubs". Attracting new regular supporters is also much harder these days when there are so many competing attractions and even when the youngsters like football, they can follow big teams regularly on the box. It is really hard to attract new fans but as ICTChris says, things are changing. I think we are seeing more younger supporters coming in and being more vocal. This needs to be sustained in order to develop real loyalty amongst the new fans and it seems to me that the club is going the right way about this. The type of football being played is exciting and I think will increasingly make people realise that you don't need to go elsewhere to see a top club. But what we have to remember is that things go in cycles and whilst there is good reason to be confident that this will be a good season - possibly yet again our best ever, we are sure to take a tumble again before too long. The test will be how much the gates drop then rather than how much they may rise to with 2 or 3 really good seasons.
