  1. I think the difference between the Dons supporters and the Hearts supporters is that the Dons supporters will make a noise. As there are going to twice as many of them than there were Hearts supporters in the semi-final, I suspect they will make quite a lot of noise. Should be a cracking atmosphere and we just have to do our best in contributing to that. It will be a great occasion and I just hope we can shift a few more tickets and give the team the support they deserve.
  2. Ask yourself just how much you enjoyed the 3 - 0 win in Dingwall the other day. No brainer!
  3. Was the semi-final not televised? We did OK in that.
  4. Charles, are you secretly in the pay of the SNP and working as a subversive? They must love you as it is this kind of lack of respect for the democratic process and for people with different views to you which will help to sway the vote toward independence. People know what the SNP stand for and whether it was a small majority or not, they got a majority in 2011 and are therefore entirely within their democratic rights to put the independence question to the electorate. Indeed, given the fact that they were elected on the platform they stood, they actually had a duty to the large number of people who voted for them to do so. When so many people are attracted to the concept of independence but are yet to be persuaded on whether it is a sensible thing to vote for, to simply denounce those in favour as haggis munching numpties will undoubtedly alienate the undecided vote and point them toward a "yes" vote. At the same time, if those instinctively opposed to independence hear your line of it all being a waste of time and not worth debating, they may well not bother voting either. In other words, your contribution to the debate (and I use that word loosely in your case ) and similar attitudes elsewhere is likely to increase the number of "yes" votes and decrease the number of "no" votes. Whether you like it or not, there is going to be a referendum. You may think it is a waste of time but the debate will take place with or without you. If you are not part of Salmond's Secret Service and really do not want the Union to be split, then you really should start making a more constructive contribution. If Scotland votes "yes" you will only have yourself to blame.
  5. Whilst always lacking any meaningful argument, CB's posts do at least sometimes include a modicum of wit. Unfortunately his latest offering really has nothing but anti SNP vitriol. I fear much of the national debate will descend to that level as we get closer to the referendum. Speaking as an Englishman (and proud of it!) I am at a loss to know where his impression of the anglophobic SNP comes from. I don't see the SNP as anglophobic at all. I see them as passionately pro Scottish - and there is a world of a difference. Nor do I sense any genuine anglophobia in the population at large having lived in Scotland for nearly 40 years and never once having encountered any. Current events in Ukraine remind us that there are parts of the world where people live in close proximity to others that they have good reason not to like and we should be grateful that the debate here is not set against that type of background. Interestingly, in my experience it is incomers who often show a bit more sympathy to the arguments for independence whilst it is the native born Scots who most vehemently defend the Union. The suggestion that support for the SNP campaign is growing as a result of simplistic appeals to the cerebrally challenged "Chippy Jimmies" doesn't really deserve a response. However, I am reminded of the answer from a member of the SNP when, following the defection of the former Dunfermline MP Dick Douglas from Labour to the SNP in 1990, he was asked what effect this was likely to have on the two parties. Not thinking much of their new recruit, the answer was "it will lower the average IQ of both parties!"
  6. I can understand their hunger. After all, a league game against us is a bit like a cup final for them.
  7. Probably suffered from the reaction to Aberdeen's victory midweek. Never mind - win our games in hand and we will still be 3rd.
  8. I don't know the reasons for Lifescan stopping being our main sponsers but they would seem to me to be an ideal company as Inverness's largest private empolyer and because of the name of their "one touch" product. Given the style of football we play I really liked it when the boys has "one touch" emblazoned on their shirts.
  9. Molesworth now plays in Division 2 of the Midland Football Combination for Bromsgrove Sporting. I also see that his boastful and exaggerated Wikipedia page is now gone altogether. In fact, when you put his name into the Wikipedia search box, it helpfully asks "Did you mean Liam Polworth?" I'm a Bromsgrove lad myself and keep abreast of what's going on with the club there. I'll have you know that far from playing in the depths of Divsion 2, Bromsgrove Sporting are currently 2nd in the Premier Division. Liam returned to his home town side in November and as far as I am aware just played a couple of games. He is not listed in the current first team squad so I don't know what has happened to him. Sounds to me as if he is someone who hasn't got the right attitude and isn't prepared to work hard enough to play football at even a half decent level.
  10. The Famous Five go to Europe Gordon Strachen. "Well chaps, what do you think of the jumpers Granny's knitted? Scott Brown. "Super, Sir. Frightfully gay." Team mates. "I say! Rather!"
  11. Not only is Shinnie deserving of a call up for Scotland but so is Doran for the Republic of Ireland. Now wouldn't it be something if the 2 of them were up against each other in the Euro qualifiers?
  12. Would've been watching from the stands IMO.
  13. Well, it's the day after the night before and I'm still in shock. It's incredible, mind boggling - but true.......... ..... County's pitch is better than ours
  14. Agree with comments above. With the performance yesterday he didn't need to make any substitutions. I thought it was great how he separately took off our leading goals scorer and then our two best players on the night so that they could all get standing ovations. At the same time it was a bit of a "fingers to you" gesture to County to say we don't need those three on the park.
  15. Already got the highlights of the Aberdeen Celtic game on the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25892139 What a goal from Jonny Hayes! Nearly as good as David Raven's for us.
  16. They are probably referring to "Adams, Adams, What's the score?"
  17. They were in bad taste. If there was a down side to the evening, it was that.
  18. Brilliant all round performance. We clearly wanted it more than them and we clearly have better players than them. Foran led by example and was superb. Match stats show things pretty even but the reality was that we always looked more threatening and had the ball ran a bit more kindly at times it could have been more. I don't recall ever seeing so many home supporters leave before the end of the match and that probably reflects just how dominant we were. Well done guys - just terrific!
  19. What's with the 13th June fixture?
  20. If you give any credence to the FIFA rankings, Scotland are in one of the easier groups. The republic, ranked at 67 are the third ranked team in that group and no other group has a 3rd ranked team ranked so low. Toughest group would seem to be the small Group I with 4 teams in the top 30 with the 5th and final team, Albania being ranked 12 places above the 3rd ranked team in Scotland's group. Poland and the Republic sound like tough oponents but neither are anything like as good as they used to be. To be honest, I think Scotland haven't had as a good a chance to qualify for a major finals for a long time. England are in one of only 2 groups with 3 teams ranked in the top 30 but then there is a big gap to the 4th place team which is ranked well below the 4th ranked team in Scotland's group. The high ranking of Switzerland and Slovenia probably flatters them and I would expect England to qualify easily - although they will probably leave it to the last game. Mind you, I see the Cape Verde Islands are ranked 27th in the world. I think perhaps the bookies odds might be a more accurate guide than the FIFA rankings.
  21. To even things up on the "Yes" v "No" viewpoint you could skip Oddquine's as well. That will save you at least 4 month's reading.
  22. Interesting to look at the recent league form (see tables under "team info" above). Yes, we may be bottom 6 on this basis with 8 points from the last 6 games but we are only 2 points behind the team in 2nd. Actually there is not much to choose between all the teams other than Celtic and clearly every team is perfectly capable of beating any other team on the day. It's all to play for IMO. Interesting to see the recent form of the big club in Edinburgh (5 points from last 6 games) since the new management team went in to sort them out
  23. Song sheets on the seats and rehersals on the coaches and trains going down?
  24. A good set of results for us this weekend. It was huge to beat st Johnstone because that now opens up a very big 9 point gap between 5th and 6th and we have games in hand. That means there should ne no worries at all of not making top 6. I can't see 2 teams putting together a run which would overhaul us. What may be significant is that the bottom half of the league is now looking very interesting. There are less points beween 6th and 11th than there are between 5th and 6th. That means that none of those 6 teams are out of the running for a top 6 place and none are safe from being in the play off place. That means they will all be battling for every point so it will be important that we go into every game with the correct mindset. Every match up to the break will be very tough and I guess Aberdeen learnt that lesson yesterday.
  25. Very clever comments from Yogi IMO. He puts the pressure on Aberdeen and Motherwell by not going overboard with public expectations, whilst at the same time casually referring to being in one cup final, still in the other cup and being in "the mix" for 2nd place in the league. He is saying in a beautifully understated way that we have ( in Yogi speak) a right good team.
