  1. Isn't the plan for the season to start in July? That may be the case but it can still take place in July before the season starts.
  2. They could go into liquidation, be fined 25 points and still be in the top 6. This is a complete non issue that will no doubt dominate the OF obsessed media for weeks.
  3. We've been here many times before. We wouldn't have this debate if the rules the stewards (good or bad) weren't so stupid. Bring back terracing and atmosphere!
  4. The reason Scots is included is so that if the majority of the population feel some recognition is being paid to their cultural heritage, they will be more tolerant to the promotion of gaelic.
  5. At least they shouldn't have fans running onto the pitch. You'd be knackered before you got there. Apart from the distance, the seating towards the front is incredibly flat which will mean your view of the distant action is impaired by the people in front of you. I suggest they instal big screens all round the running track so that fans can see the action. Loud speakers could be installed behind the screen to project the noise from the stands so that the players can be aware that there are actually some fans in the distant reaches of the stands.
  6. I think, judging by the red dots, that my command of the english language has wooshed right over the heads of a few people. For something to be your least favourite then in must be in your favourites list. i.e the lesser of your favourites. Interesting point. I wonder if you have a dictionary definition to support your case? I can see where you're coming from but I would argue that the common use of the phrase to mean "most disliked" takes precedence over any technical linguistic argument. Its part of the evolution of language. Being the least favourite is placing something at the bottom of your ranking of liking something.
  7. Damn it! Another poll I wanted to vote in but can't. I think the answer is 104 but it's not included in any of the options.
  8. Would be good to support the youngsters at this and I would expect a good standard. England currently bottom of the mini league of 5 I see. I might have to sit in the South Stand to support the underdogs!
  9. I'm not voting because I think the answer is 10. The poll provides an option for 2 - 10 and also one for 10 - 50 and therefore there is no valid choice for me to express my view. If I opt for 2 - 10 then my vote is not included within another option which also contains my chosen number , so whilst my chosen number is within the range 10 - 50, I cannot vote for it. This means I am disenfranchised. I therefore refuse to chose between the 2 possible options as a matter of principle. I shall be in contact with the United Nations asking them to intervene in restoring true democracy to this forum. I also call upon the mods to move this to the nonsense forum.
  10. Perhaps if the guy's aim had been better it would not have been necessary to mop around his feet.
  11. Starting line up spot on. As for the subs - depends on who Terry wants to rest when we are 4 - 0 up midway through the 2nd half. But the first bit is pobably right.
  12. I didn't like to be too pedantic before but the first option is 0 - 50. There is of course a world of difference to thinking there are none and thinking there are as many as 50. But then the second choice is 50 - 150. So if I think there are 50, what do I go for? 0 - 50 or 50 - 150? Worryingly this is a basic mistake you often see in what are supposed to be serious surveys by qualified researchers Anyhow, it's all been nonsense but it's been fun. There's been precious little else on the forum of late so, thank you, Dougal, for giving us a laugh.
  13. Couldn't agree more, particularly with Jonny back. It is clear that teams are scared of Jonny and whenever he has the ball there are 2 or often 3 defenders on him. That means there should be one or two of our team who are being given space. Putting someone up front with Rooney will mean there is either space to exploit or Jonny gets more freedom to terrorise defences.
  14. I take it that this detail has been posted here because the wise words of the contributors to this forum make it obvious that there are numerous members of CTO who would do a much better job than the present incumbant? I'd like to help but you can't afford me.
  15. It is early days yet but it looks as though more people are going to vote on this pointless poll than in Dougal's pointless poll. I eagerly await Dougal's learned interpretation of this.
  16. Hopefully not. There will be time to do that when it is clear whether we will be in the top 6 or not for the last 5 games of the season. There will be a significant difference in revenue for the club between being in the top 6 or the bottom 6. Terry needs to pick his best team just now and do everything to get that top 6 place.
  17. Don Cowie scored a good goal midweek for watford. http://news.bbc.co.u...v_1/9427201.stm
  18. Someone famous once said "there are lies, damned lies and statistics". Far be it from me to give Dougal a lecture on research methodology but I think everyone other than him will recognise that his conclusion is complete and utter nonsense. He refers to only 24 folk voting. Had nobody voted at all then presumably he would have claimed that there were even more refuseniks because they have all stayed away from having anything to do with ITC. Had 240 voted then he would have claimed that the high number of people who thought there were a lot of refuseniks proved that was the case. What ever the result, Dougal claims it proves his point. Get real, Dougal. The fact that only 24 people voted demonstrates that the vast majority of people who have read any of this thread think it is such a non issue that they can't be bothered to vote. The vast majority who watched the 2 former clubs are now fully behind ICT and delighted about the success the merged club has had. Some people have refused to watch the merged team - how many, I neither know nor care. What I do know is that I have greatly enjoyed the rise and exploits of ICT over recent years and those who have not shared the thrills over the years have missed out and only have themselves to blame.
  19. Given Terry's very upbeat assessment of the performance against Celtic I would be interested in why Sutherland was dropped to the bench today. If Jonny has regained fitness then he had to start and for me that would mean either Ross or Sutherland giving way. Whilst Ross has played well above expectations this season he was looking a bit off the game against Celtic and I think it was right to rest him. Sutherland, however, has been playing very well and looking threatening. He was on the bench so was presumably fit to play but he neither started nor came on as a sub despite us needing to chase the game - I don't understand. At least motherwell lost again so we remain well placed for 6th.
  20. Did he participate by conference call during the season Exeter were relegated from division 2?
  21. We now have freedom of movement in the EU so I guess it would be difficult to stop the european players (and where would we be without the Irish) but what I always find strange with football is that you seem to be able to get a work permit for a non EU player far easier than you are able to renew your passport. In other trades and professions a foreign national will only be allowed in to work if it can be shown that there is a shortage of people wanting the job from within our own shores. Now if Rangers and Celtic were to advertise a vacancy for a striker or a holding midfield player I am sure there would be loads of young scots only too happy to apply for the vacancy. There is no need to go to Japan or Senegal to be able to fill the vacancy. Having said that, it is good that the system allows the talented players from other nations to play on the bigger stage but there needs to be some balance here. I for one would certainly support a limit on foreign players
  22. I'm sure our Irish boys would be inspired by a clear rendition of this by section G http://www.youtube.c...h?v=OM8Uv5RFOyM
  23. Basically the same tactics for me. If Jonny is fit he should start in place of Ross. A bit harsh on young Nick perhaps but for me he has gone off the boil a bit and Sutherland is showing some good form and looking a real threat. I'd play Sutherland up front with Rooney with Foran wide on the left. Ross and Doran available to come on when Jonny tires or for injury, poor performance, tiring of anybody else.
  24. 4 Scottish Cup matches against Celtic and we have been ahead at some stage of the match in all of them. We're still ahead on goal difference. That's some acheivement!
