  1. I'll bet the Irish guys who shook hands with him after the match were pleased to hear about this!
  2. Terry has been known not to be honest with refs himself in the past. For example "Honest ref, I'm fine. It's just a little nick!"
  3. Craigy, you have used the term "honest mistakes" in your thread title and then in your post imply that the referee yesterday gave the penalty to Rangers because he's a Rangers fan and wants to see then in the Champion's league! How on earth do you expect anybody to take you seriously? How about using your own forum to suggest your obnoxious manager treats referees with a bit more respect instead of coming on here to have a dig at Rangers.
  4. It has been a bit of a strange one this week. It is the people who have quite a distance to travel or who, like me, live in a rural setting who have been in at work early whilst folk in the town have been having a lot of problems. Some of them have said it would have been quicker walking to which I reply "why didn't you, then?". But to be fair, they may not have realised the problems they faced - but what ever we have here, it is worse further South. There was an interesting comment on the radio this morning from a guy complaining about all the problems caused by cars parked at the side of the road because the owner can't be *rsed to clear their driveways. (that's not actually the phrase that was used). This means that roads which normally would have traffic flowing in both directions can only accomodate single file traffic as they weave in and out between cars on either side of the road. How inconsiderate and lazy can people be? When I become First Minister I pledge to introduce a law requiring able bodied people to ensure their cars are kept on their driveways or in their garages if they have one. If they behave in this antisocial way they would be ordered to clear their drive before then being required to clear the driveways of the elderly and disabled and then clearing the pavements.
  5. Nice one. A green dot for being able to laugh at your own situation - which, actually, is not as bad as it ought to be
  6. Is this the longest interview you've ever had?
  7. Newcastle are perenial under-achieviers. I don't know when they last won anything worth winning. This decision is so bizarre it is almost as though the Board is worried they might actually win something with Hughton so have bought Pardew in to restore mediocrity to the club.
  8. 2nd round replay - Leyton Orient v Droylsden Non League Droylsden cruising to victory and a major upset. 2 - 0 up and Orient down to 10 men Orient score a 77th minute penalty and then a Droylsden player sees red. Orient equalise in the 89th minute but still manage to get a 2nd player red carded before the full time whistle blows Orient get a 3rd early in extra time before a 2nd Droylsden player gets sent off. It's 9 against 9 and presumably the fitness of the senior side asserts itself as Orient go on to score a further 5 goals! Final score 8 - 2 AET after being 2 goals and one man down with 13 minutes to go. Astonishing!
  9. No, but the appropriately named Barrowman could be used to clear the snow from the pitch.
  10. On the face of it it makes no sense. He has got them into the Premiership and they are mid table. He has certainly been more effective than Houlier at Villa who now seem to be in free fall. Maybe he's been sacked to make way for McGhee
  11. How come the one with the Ulster flag is selling at 1.39 but the one with Saltire is only 99p? Outrageous!
  12. Let's compromise and debate whether the Rangers game will be called off or not. If the weather makes it difficult for the away support to travel I think it should definately go ahead.
  13. I'm afraid they have not been nominated, but at least they have won the Most Appropriate Acronym of the year award.
  14. I'll add my agreement to Caley D and Johnboy. If the home club says they can host the game, the away team say they can get there and an appropriate referee can confirn the pitch is playable, then that should be that - game on. Of course, those involved need to make decisions early to prevent fans travelling when games are called off but it should be for the the clubs and the referee to decide and not the SPL or the police. I understand the difficulty some supporters will have in getting to the game but this is just a matter of degree as there are always risks in going to a match - people trip on pavements and people are involved in RTAs in the best of weather. So unless you stick to a basic principle, where do you draw the line? Should the EPL postpone the Liverpoool Villa match tomorrow because some folk in the East of the country can't get to the pub to watch the match on big screen TV because of the weather? No. Of course not! Making arbitrary boundaries just does not work. On this occasion it was nothing to do with the police but it has been in the past. Again, it's not their call. They don't tell the pubs and the cinemas etc to close during bad weather so why should football fans be singled out as not being capable of making decisions for themselves? Don't get me wrong, I have huge sympathy for the police in dealing with the consequences of people who make poor judgements or who are just plain stupid (none more so that the idiot in this story http://www.bbc.co.uk...d-kent-11908583 ). But we live in a democracy. Businesses (and the football club is a business) should be able to make decisions themselves about whether they want to open or host an event and we, the paying public, should be able to make decisions about whether or not we wish to take any risks associated with attending. Sometimes we make the wrong decisions - but that is our right. The police should be defending our rights and not removing them.
  15. There is NO WAY i would go up to a complete stranger in Inverness and start discussing ICT, i have experienced at first hand unpleasantness and animosity towards myself and ICT whilst out drinking in the city Fair enough if you are in the Caley Thistle club surrounded by fellow ICT fans well that maybe the case but you are wrong to say that everyone is willing to discuss ICT and make you welcome Even on this forum i've not really been made particularly welcome by some, i've even been targeted by a red dot campaign which has caused me a lot of heartache dougal Dougal, I think you have been made very welcome on this site and many of us have a good laugh at your posts. I am sure that is your intention, so, well done! It is really quite an acheivement to be averaging more than 1 red dot per post. And I don't think there is any targeted campaign to give you red dots, it is just a reflection of the general stupidity and offensiveness of your posts. If you speak with people in pubs the way you communicate on this forum then I'm not surprised you find some animosity. It's not a reflection of Inverness or ICT - it's just personal. I've quite enjoyed your drivel today and haven't given you a red dot but then I don't sit in section G and I'm not Ginger. Keep the posts coming - with no football on we need something to amuse us.
  16. It's not a ribbon - it's a broad band.
  17. Seemed to be universal acknowledgement on Sportsound that the England bid was far and away the best so it is not just the English media whinging about this. Nor can you put the decision down to the desire to give it to a nation which has hosted before. There are nations who have hosted twice since England did in 66. However, Russia is a big nation with a decent footballing tradition and whilst there is a lot to do infrastructure-wise they could still put on a good show. They have over 7 years to get ready and that is plenty of time for all the appropriate bribes investment to be made. A world cup needs a nation with plenty of grounds and a good fan base, so there is only one word for the decision for the 2022 world cup - Qatarstrophic.
  18. Good statement from Kenny. What forecast have the SPL seen I wonder? No snow forecast for the next few days. It might be cold but with only a gentle breeze it will be perfect for football. Stupid decision IMHO. Probably dictated by Celtic wanting a bit of time to regroup and Aberdeen wanting time for someone desparate enough to want to manage them.
  19. Hope for England in order to avoid the embarrasment of faling to qualify, but I think it will be Russia as it is a big nation which has not hosted it before.
  20. 4 - 0 to West Ham Serves Man Ure right for disrespecting the Hammers and fielding a team stuffed with reserves.
  21. I would have thought they would want to keep the snow on the pitch. It's the only hope they have of a decent period unbeaten this season .
  22. 30 appearances and 2 goals Thanks Alex. That's a woeful strike rate of 6.66% - just a shade higher than Roscoe! It is a sobering thought that just over a year ago Terry was sticking Barrowan in the starting line up ahead of Rooney! Interesting to see Xausa's strike rate. I always thought he was an under-rated player but I hadn't realised his strike rate was so good.
  23. Go on, Scotty, give us all a laugh and remind us what Barrowloads record was!
  24. There seems to be something about Inverness that brings out the best in players. It is not just Terry Butcher who has managed that, probably all our managers have brought players in who have markedly improved whilst here whilst very few have come in with a good reputation and underperformed. Perhaps it is the culture in the club, the quality of the backroom staff or just the quality of life in the City. Several of our best players have been key players for us and have moved on to bigger clubs only to become squad players at best. Nobody has really stepped up a level having left Inverness. Barry Robson did well at Celtic and got into the national side but it could be argued that he was playing at that level when he left us. Don Cowie is also doing well - but Watford! He might be getting paid more but it still ain't the big time. And unless they do make a name for themselves and become a big name in a bigger club they are just going to stagnate and will not attract the big money. As long as Inverness are playing at the level they are, players are going to get a fair bit of exposure and if they can maintain that consistently over 3 or 4 seasons then they genuinely will be worth other clubs bidding big money. I am sure Adam will want to play at a big club someday but he is still very young and now is not the time. If he doesn't keep scoring here, he won't score regularly for a bigger club. My advice would be to sign a longer term contract with Inverness where the ingredients have been right so far to allow his game to develop considerably. This would give his team mates a boost and help to ensure the club continues to play at a high level where he will get the opportunity to prove what a good and improving player he is. If he continues to improve then big clubs may come after him but he shouldn't go until a club thinks he is worth big money. It seems to happen all the time that a bigger club comes in for a player but offers peanuts. The player thinks this is the opportunity of a lifetime and then is lucky to get into the first team. If a bigger club thinks the player is good enough to be a key player in the side, they will pay big money. If they don't then it isn't worth the player going. Sign a 3 year deal Adam. It's in your interest, the clubs interest and, dare I say it, your Country's interest. Stay here and keep knocking the goals in and you will get the success you so richly deserve,
  25. SPL turnover? Well, we've turned over Dundee Utd, St Mirren, Aberdeen (twice) Kilmarnock, Hamilton and Hibs so far, with more to come!
