Another strange one. Blackburn are a team who have consistently performed at a higher level than you would expect for a town of that size. Blackburn had a good season last year and are mid table this year so I wonder just what the new owners expect. I thought Allardyce was the right man for the job and just like Pardew at Newcastle, the new manager is going to have to do a very good job indeed to convince the fans that he is the right man for the job.

I think they are all stars, but now that Barrowman has gone I don't really have a favourite.

Terry has been known not to be honest with refs himself in the past. For example "Honest ref, I'm fine. It's just a little nick!"

Craigy, you have used the term "honest mistakes" in your thread title and then in your post imply that the referee yesterday gave the penalty to Rangers because he's a Rangers fan and wants to see then in the Champion's league! How on earth do you expect anybody to take you seriously? How about using your own forum to suggest your obnoxious manager treats referees with a bit more respect instead of coming on here to have a dig at Rangers.

It has been a bit of a strange one this week. It is the people who have quite a distance to travel or who, like me, live in a rural setting who have been in at work early whilst folk in the town have been having a lot of problems. Some of them have said it would have been quicker walking to which I reply "why didn't you, then?". But to be fair, they may not have realised the problems they faced - but what ever we have here, it is worse further South. There was an interesting comment on the radio this morning from a guy complaining about all the problems caused by cars parked at the side of the road because the owner can't be *rsed to clear their driveways. (that's not actually the phrase that was used). This means that roads which normally would have traffic flowing in both directions can only accomodate single file traffic as they weave in and out between cars on either side of the road. How inconsiderate and lazy can people be? When I become First Minister I pledge to introduce a law requiring able bodied people to ensure their cars are kept on their driveways or in their garages if they have one. If they behave in this antisocial way they would be ordered to clear their drive before then being required to clear the driveways of the elderly and disabled and then clearing the pavements.

Newcastle are perenial under-achieviers. I don't know when they last won anything worth winning. This decision is so bizarre it is almost as though the Board is worried they might actually win something with Hughton so have bought Pardew in to restore mediocrity to the club.

2nd round replay - Leyton Orient v Droylsden Non League Droylsden cruising to victory and a major upset. 2 - 0 up and Orient down to 10 men Orient score a 77th minute penalty and then a Droylsden player sees red. Orient equalise in the 89th minute but still manage to get a 2nd player red carded before the full time whistle blows Orient get a 3rd early in extra time before a 2nd Droylsden player gets sent off. It's 9 against 9 and presumably the fitness of the senior side asserts itself as Orient go on to score a further 5 goals! Final score 8 - 2 AET after being 2 goals and one man down with 13 minutes to go. Astonishing!

Let's compromise and debate whether the Rangers game will be called off or not. If the weather makes it difficult for the away support to travel I think it should definately go ahead.

I'll add my agreement to Caley D and Johnboy. If the home club says they can host the game, the away team say they can get there and an appropriate referee can confirn the pitch is playable, then that should be that - game on. Of course, those involved need to make decisions early to prevent fans travelling when games are called off but it should be for the the clubs and the referee to decide and not the SPL or the police. I understand the difficulty some supporters will have in getting to the game but this is just a matter of degree as there are always risks in going to a match - people trip on pavements and people are involved in RTAs in the best of weather. So unless you stick to a basic principle, where do you draw the line? Should the EPL postpone the Liverpoool Villa match tomorrow because some folk in the East of the country can't get to the pub to watch the match on big screen TV because of the weather? No. Of course not! Making arbitrary boundaries just does not work. On this occasion it was nothing to do with the police but it has been in the past. Again, it's not their call. They don't tell the pubs and the cinemas etc to close during bad weather so why should football fans be singled out as not being capable of making decisions for themselves? Don't get me wrong, I have huge sympathy for the police in dealing with the consequences of people who make poor judgements or who are just plain stupid (none more so that the idiot in this story http://www.bbc.co.uk...d-kent-11908583 ). But we live in a democracy. Businesses (and the football club is a business) should be able to make decisions themselves about whether they want to open or host an event and we, the paying public, should be able to make decisions about whether or not we wish to take any risks associated with attending. Sometimes we make the wrong decisions - but that is our right. The police should be defending our rights and not removing them.

Seemed to be universal acknowledgement on Sportsound that the England bid was far and away the best so it is not just the English media whinging about this. Nor can you put the decision down to the desire to give it to a nation which has hosted before. There are nations who have hosted twice since England did in 66. However, Russia is a big nation with a decent footballing tradition and whilst there is a lot to do infrastructure-wise they could still put on a good show. They have over 7 years to get ready and that is plenty of time for all the appropriate bribes investment to be made. A world cup needs a nation with plenty of grounds and a good fan base, so there is only one word for the decision for the 2022 world cup - Qatarstrophic.

Good statement from Kenny. What forecast have the SPL seen I wonder? No snow forecast for the next few days. It might be cold but with only a gentle breeze it will be perfect for football. Stupid decision IMHO. Probably dictated by Celtic wanting a bit of time to regroup and Aberdeen wanting time for someone desparate enough to want to manage them.

It is a sobering thought that just over a year ago Terry was sticking Barrowan in the starting line up ahead of Rooney! Interesting to see Xausa's strike rate. I always thought he was an under-rated player but I hadn't realised his strike rate was so good.
