  1. That's right. We had several flashes and claps of thunder and it was directly above us at one point. As someone said earlier, the light was bluish and the thunder, even when close, was somewhat mufflled, presumably because the sound is absorbed by the snow. I've certainly never experienced thunder and lightning during snow before.
  2. Bless you good people of Inverness. You are all most welcome!
  3. It's not fair! Why don't I get a hat as well?
  4. Wouldn't surprise me if he consults someone and changes his mind.
  5. Lionel was always comfortable on the ball. It was the rest of us who weren't comfortable.
  6. And of course, they'll have something to lift at the end of the season..... But Yngwie, when do you plant your tatties if you are lifting them in May?
  7. The behaviour of the stewards sounds dreadful but I guess it is simply a reflection of the culture within the club. We have seen recently that the chairman and their obnoxious manager feel it is alright to throw their weight around and intimidate people so perhaps that is what the stewards feel is expected from them. If it was me being treated like that I would write to the club to complain (not that it'll do any good but at least it would make me feel better) and I would also copy the letter to ICT and and to the SFA. Our club should be made aware of the inappropriate treatment of our fans and should complain officially whilst the SFA should do something about it. Given that it was the Ceptic fans who wanted to leave early, could the stewards not have assisted them in leaving the ground instead?
  8. Fantastic achievement both on the day and for the past year. Well done to all.
  9. I fully support BlueToon's comments, comments echoed by Charlie Christie in the Courier. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening both from the perspective of seeing some excellent play from several of our former players and seeing some of the youngsters including David Chambers, Chad Stewart and Liam Polworth who all looked comfortable at this level. I am sure their efforts and the respect afforded them all by 99.5% of the crowd helped make it a memorable occasion for Roy. He certainly deserved a good night.
  10. Great work Maryhill. I look forward to our European ventures next season and a preview in the style of Estonia's national bard.
  11. Well, it's just as well none of them have posted in this thread then. I didn't mention the booing at all in my first post match post and Madsooz who raised the matter first started her post by saying that it was an enjoyable evening. I am sure that all of the large number of people who thought the booing out of order thoroughly enjoyed the evening but just felt the edge was taken off it by the very small disrespectful minority who failed to understand that a testamonial match was not the time and place for booing. Nobody is looking for things to complain about but if you are aware of any behaviour which is not in the interests of the club you support then it is IMHO completely appropriate to comment on it. CaleyD, you say you are annoyed by idiots at football matches and that the booing on Tuesday was not welcome, so how are the idiots and the boo boys supposed to know their behaviour is not welcome unless their fellow supporters tell them when they are out of order? Ignore it and they will continue to think they are being clever.
  12. A further example of officialdom's favouratism for the old filth. They are even passing the ball to them but the filth are too dim to take advantage.
  13. It's funny because we are a small team playing a quality of football well above what might be expected for a club of our size. The stereotype just helps to emphasise our small club status. It is a compliment to the team. Not only should we laugh at this, we should laugh louder than anyone else.
  14. Wasn't at the game so can't say whether it was banter or not, but I was at Jamie Carraghers Testimonial earlier in the season where Michael Owen was playing as part of Carras Liverpool team in the first half. The first 15 minutes or so he was boo'ed longly and loudly for being a Manc nowadays. A few supporters took exception to this and started to cheer him every time he touched the ball. By the end of the half every time he touched the ball it was to applause and cheering. In short, if any fans thought any boo'ing of Brewser was out of order, why didn't they cheer him instead to show they though it wasn't the time or the place? Would achieve a lot more than moaning on a web forum a day or so after surely? I have a lot more time for the likes of Charlie Christie, Barry Wilson and Paul Sheerin than I do for Brewster so why should I cheer more for Brewster than them just because 3 or 4 misguided individuals chose to behave in a moronic fashion towards him. Cheering would only have encouraged them to boo more so I didn't play that silly game. I'm no fan of brewster but I clapped when he played good football which, to be fair, was quite often. Credit where credit is due, respect where respect is due.
  15. Are there other words for Thesaurus and Synonym? and why do the terms "wise man" and "wise guy" mean such different things?
  16. I felt the booing of Brewster was out of order as well. Those booing may say it was just a bit of banter but if you are being booed all you hear is a boo and you can't say "Oh, listen - sounds like a banter type boo, that's OK then!" Whether it was intented as light hearted on the night or not we all know and Brewster will know that those booing don't like him. It was a night of celebration spoiled for some by an ignorant show of disprespect by a very small minority. Some may feel Brewster is fair game for a bit of disrespect but last night was not the time nor the place. The point is that the night was about Roy McBain. Roy invited Brewster to play because he has respect for Brewster from the time Brewster was Roy's manager. And Brewster was there because of the respect he has for Roy. Those booing were therefore showing disrespect not just to Brewster but to Roy by their infantile behaviour - shame on you.
  17. Quite an enjoyable game and good experience for some of the youngsters to play against the legends. Charlie Christie played some lovely touches, Barry Wilson and Bobby Mann can still show some of our first team squad a lesson or two. To be fair, Brewster played some good touches as well. In the end the difference between the sides was the fitness levels of the youngsters and Jim Calder being in goal 2nd half for the legends.
  18. This thread's gone a bit quiet given that the match is tomorrow. Roy has been very much an unsung hero for ICT for many years and his solid midfield play was a major factor in us staying so long in the SPL during our first spell. It is often the way that the more visible players get the good turnouts at testimonials but few deserve a good turnout as much as Roy. There's feck all on the telly tomorrow so get yer erses down to the TCS and show your appreciation for a real ICT legend.
  19. We need the SFA to pay a foreign ref handsomely to make all the important decisions against Celtic at the weekend. That way Celtic might appreciate that Scottish refs actually do a pretty good job. Of course, that would give a big advantage to whoever Celtic are playing at the weekend. Who are they playing at the weekend, by the way? Oh! It's us! Well I never!
  20. Great draw. I feel a Sutherland hat-trick coming on. I also like the sound of County away to Dundee Utd as a repeat of last year's final.
  21. I was also unable to get to the game but just seen the highlights and it is great to see such composed finishing from both Foran and Rooney. First SPL hatrick for an ICT player, Well done Adam! Rooney's penalty was perfectly placed but it realy is time he stuck one somewhere else to keep the keepers guessing.
  22. "The referee's a wonder!" Or do you think the referee would maybe miss the change to the wording?
  23. I'm with the refs as well. I hate it when players surround and intimidate the referee when a decision is made they don't like. Being verbally agressive to the referee should be an automatic yellow card - at least - and a free kick to the opposition - or move the ball 10 yards further forward if they already have one. What a contrast to Rugby where the referees are held in great respect and decisions are accepted without question even when they are blatently wrong. Part of the reason there is that referees can penalise teams distance for backchat and referees are supported by the authorities. One can, nevertherless understand players reacting in the heat of the moment but there is no excuse for the abuse referees have been given recently from some managers and club officials. It is time the SFA took sanctions such as the docking of points for these outbursts. A 10 point fine would soon shut Lennon and Reid up.
  24. Nice one but not the worst miss I've ever seen. I've seen Barrowman play.
