Interesting, but still not the out and out striker we are crying out for.

Very early days, but just 3 games into the season, does the league table already reflect the eventual top 6? Swap County for ICT and I think that might be it - or at least I hope so.

"Believe me, in Dani Lopez we have a player who will score double figures." - John Hughes, 30/7/2015 I wonder if he is sticking by that claim? Or by double figures, was he meaning "2" rather than "10+"?

Partick have signed Paul Pogba's brother. Dundee Utd have signed Wesley Sneijder's brother. Which international footballer's brother would you most like to see playing for ICT? For me it's pretty obvious - Andrew Shinnie's brother!

Sounds like Vigurs did really well last night, especially for a lad plucked from Highland League obscurity. I was thinking, there can't be many examples of a footballer playing at that level one week and the top flight the next. Usually it's the other way round, with experienced players going to Brora.

Whilst talking about that era, I was curious as to whatever happened to Peter Davidson, the highly rated fitness coach who followed Brewster to Tannadice and back again. A quick search reveals that he subsequently worked for Fife Council for 5 years in a role promoting fitness in schools, and is now self-employed in Dundee providing businesses with training in first aid.

Dundee Utd have suspended their head of youth development, Stevie Campbell, who was an ICT coach before leaving with Brewster and Malky Thomson to Tannadice in 2006. It came as a surprise to me that he was still there after all these years, he's certainly done well to last so long at a club that has been through a few managerial regimes in that time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33889577

One of the best and most popular players in our history is Barry Wilson who, let's not forget, had previously celebrated a goal for County by revealing a "Let's all laugh at Caley" T-shirt. A few good performances for us and it was quickly forgiven and forgotten. Well, forgiven anyway!

That'll be yer arse talking, then!

Don't think it has been mentioned yet as far as I can see, but so far this summer, Ian Black has turned out for Berwick in a friendly, and trained with Raith Rovers. It remains to be seen whether he is just trying to keep fit and keep himself in the shop window or if his expectations (and offers) have really fallen so far so quickly!

Brechin manager Darren Dods on Riordan appearing for them in a bounce game v Falkirk at Stirling Uni: “Derek came in as we were a bit short of players and he lives quite close to Stirling. He was doing us a favour and we were doing him a favour in terms of giving him 90 minutes. He wants to play abroad or secure a full-time team here so we have not pursued his signature."

Desperate times, desperate measures, Gordie - Butcher never had an injury crisis like this to deal with. Unfortunately it seems to be a case of "who's available and affordable" rather than "who do we want". You never know, Riordan might even contribute more than Gary McSwegan did!

Just home from game. I think we'd all have taken a draw at 3pm given half the team was missing, but it was a bit of a sickener to lose a late equaliser after such a great team effort, and we should really have had it sewn up ages before. Really pleased with the team, and the youngsters that were brought in couldn't really be faulted. Has to be said though, that Saints were pretty awful. They only started to get a bit closer to our goal in the last 20 minutes when it was evident that a few of our guys (eg Mutombo) had nothing left in the tank. Big improvement on last week. MoM was probably Christie, a wise head already, along with skillful feet, but Devine also did a great job and Williams displayed great energy and tackling.

Is there such a thing as a fibula transplant? If there is, I'm willing to be the donor.

Plus Dean Brill of course. We're not far away from having a pretty strong XI on the teatment table!

If that's true (and I very much hope it is not), then we urgently need to bring in a defender - maybe a loanee from England until January.

Feeling pretty despondent just now. Was pretty hopeful that despite the injuries and the lack of anything in the final third, we'd be good enough overall to take something from this game. With about half the team now injured, we are unlikely to be up to full-ish strength for a few weeks too. The only good news just now is that we are not Kilmarnock.

Whilst the starting XI looks pretty strong, you've got to wonder if some of them perhaps aren't 100% and are only there because so many other players are out.

Crikey, whoever said last night that we might not be able to fill the bench was correct. Not much (outfield) experience to draw upon there.

I'd have thought an aficionado like yourself would be familiar with the tactical benefits of playing someone in the "false 28" role.

Andy Shinnie has been given a 2 year contract extension by Birmingham, taking him to summer 2018.

Well, there's an obvious rhyme, with"Mutombo" and "Congo". In fact I can't help but be reminded of an old TV advert....!

I don't think (m)any of us expect to repeat the dizzy heights of 14/15, for the reasons you outline. However, I think you are very unfair on Hughes to attribute that success to him being "lucky" and "in the right place at the right time".
