  1. Absolutely. Presumably he'll head back to NI, where he scored a lot of goals and can hopefully do so again. Alternatively, he could go to County, where he'd instantly be their best striker........
  2. Complete waste of a wage, in the end. One of our worst signings ever? That Steve Marsella has a lot to answer for!
  3. Just to bring this up to date - that proposed move to India never materialised, and Sanchez has instead been playing for Tuen Mun SA (ground capacity 2,200) in Hong Kong's 1st division. Wikipedia shows him having 6 appearances and 1 goal for them. Older fans might recall that this is the same league that Paul Ritchie played in, for Happy Valley, right before joining us in 2001.
  4. I think it's time to put a Scrooge-like stop to this Dickensian nonsense. Bah! Humbug!
  5. Yes, I have great expectations.
  6. Marley Watkins is destined to do well over the festive period, given that his a name sounds straight out of a Dickens novel.
  7. I see by the way that Sproule has agreed to sign for Linfield when the window opens.
  8. I started a thread about unbeaten runs, so I thought I’d better balance it out with one about our longest winless runs in the SPL: I’d hate to be accused of being positive. Our longest (league) run without a win is 10 games, which has been “achieved” on 2 separate occasions. I don’t think anyone will be surprised when I say that these both arose during Brewster’s 2nd spell. [shudder] The 1st was in 07/08, January to March, and thank heavens for Gretna, who we beat immediately before and after that barren spell. This run included 7 straight defeats. Next season, another 10 match winless run finally saw the end of Brewster in January 2009, shoes off and all that. A record of 8 straight defeats was set. Reminiscing about the dismal performances and results from back then should make us even more appreciative of the great times we are having now. In 06/07, Christie actually endured a 9 match winless streak, which ended in spectacular fashion with Rankin’s brilliant late strike over Rangers, in a televised game just after Christmas. It takes something very, very special to get me dancing round the living room, but that was one of those rare moments. Our poor form leading up to the game made the victory even sweeter.
  9. It's nice to be enjoying a 7 match unbeaten run, which got me thinking about what our longest unbeaten run has been at this level. So I had a look back through this site's results section, and decided to take into account SPL league games only, to ensure a reasonably consistent standard of opposition. The longest unbeaten run was 11 games in 05/06 during Brewster's 1st spell. This comprised 5 wins and 6 draws between 29/10/05 and 21/1/06. The next best is 8 games, which we’ve managed 3 times: 06/07 under Christie, which was notable because it suddenly morphed into 9 games without a win. Early in 12/13, after a defeat to Motherwell we went on a great run which came to a crashing end with the 1-5 v Motherwell. But then we bounced back immediately with another 8 straight after that shocker. So that game was the only defeat in 16! Later that season we also managed 7 unbeaten. If you want to consider runs of straight wins in the league, then 5 is the record at this level, which we’ve done twice. 05/06 under Christie, winning all post-split games with clean sheets. 07/08 under “Brew 2”. I have particularly fond memories of this one because I became a dad after the 3rd win, and then we had all these visitors at the house but I just wanted to watch the televised game v Celtic, which we came back to win 3-2. Then the following weekend I escaped the nappies for a trip to Tynecastle on a freezing, icy day, and we also won that one 3-2, Bayne in injury time firing past an outfield player in goals. Absolutely magic.
  10. Finally, vacancies that our manager isn't linked with!
  11. Yep, unbeaten in 7 games and an ICT record equalling 5 consecutive clean sheets.
  12. On paper that was one of the easier or more expected wins of our season, but still, the players have still got to go out there and win it, which they did. Nice one. Top 5 all won today so it was important that we did.
  13. I thought you were referring to them losing!
  14. But Esson doesn't advertise his services! http://just4keepers.co.uk/goalkeeper-training-inverness/
  15. Getting back to Celtic's reputation in tatters : 6-0 to Barca with 15 minutes still left. Possession 76%:24%
  16. Just a reminder that the Stranaraer v Clyde replay is this evening.
  17. Molesworth now plays in Division 2 of the Midland Football Combination for Bromsgrove Sporting. I also see that his boastful and exaggerated Wikipedia page is now gone altogether. In fact, when you put his name into the Wikipedia search box, it helpfully asks "Did you mean Liam Polworth?"
  18. Hearts are obviously a pretty weak side this season, but putting aside the 15 point penalty they have actually got more points than County!
  19. http://www.scotsman.com/news/ex-hibs-man-brian-rice-faces-jail-over-qatar-debts-1-2999216
  20. That's very kind of you - Highland Park please!
  21. This was Carl Tremarco's 6th appearance for us, and the first time we didn't win. Still unbeaten though. On that subject, ICT are unbeaten in 6, whilst Hughes as manager is actually unbeaten in his last 5, despite 4 of those being at the worst team in League 1. And as I mentioned elsewhere, we have achieved 4 consecutive clean sheets. Lots of impressive stats, all just waiting to come crashing down at some point!
  22. That's 4 games in a row now : Hibs, St J, Morton and St M. Am I right in saying our longest ever run of clean sheets was at the end of season 05/06, when we won all 5 of our post-split games to nil?
  23. Yngwie

    Paul Hartley

No, let's try speaking basic English!
  24. Park definitely worked under Charlie, but I can't remember how long that was for. Incidentally Malky Thomson is assistant at Limerick, after a spell coaching reserves for a team in Dubai.
  25. Most obscure one : Ben Jackson (who?) : manager of the University of Sunderland 2nd XI. (who?) http://sportsbyte.sunderland.ac.uk/?p=21924
