  1. Like any valuation it goes up and down, and you've got to time your move correctly. Demand too much and the other party might find it too hard to swallow. By all accounts he's quite a handful, but I hope the pressure of a bigger club doesn't make him flop. Competition for places is always tough, but I'm sure if anyone is able to force his way in, it's him.

I'm sure we'll see quite a few more trialists coming and going in the next few weeks. Incidentally, what are the chances of us signing a player we are familiar with and who we can be pretty confident will improve the team? It just doesn't seem to happen these days. Not since Ritchie Foran perhaps.

I think Tansey is supposed to sign today, officially.
  4. To cheer us up, here's a reminder of what we'll be "missing".
  5. I had a recollection that he had. I take he's been removed from the wall display of "famous ex-pupils" and won't be invited back to present the prizes at sports day etc?
  6. Gornell hasn't signed for anyone yet as far as I can see, but it kind of sounds like we've given up. Just speculating, but is it possible that this fell through for us because we discovered that Stanley would be due compensation? Tansey was also under 23, but we were able to get him free only because of a cross-border transfer loophole whereby Stockport hadn't offered him a new contract more than 60 days before his old one expired. Don't know if that was the case with Gornell. Any English team will definitely have to pay Stanley, and perhaps the current position is that he has agreed to join the Shrews but they are negotiating compensation with Stanley before finalising the deal.
  7. But he was Terry's first choice, so isn't the obvious consequence that we end up signing someone who the manager thinks isn't as good?
  8. Feck, that's a spanner in the works. Now where do we go?
  9. Delighted for him, great news And it shows other potential signings that joining ICT can lead to much better things.

His contract expired, so he's currently unattached.
  11. Agreed, and I would be (very pleasantly) surprised if he could get a move to a big club that will be aiming to bounce back to the Premiership. However, stranger things have happened - Birmingham have now made their move for Colin Calderwood to be assistant, and he is known to be a big admirer of Adam, having spent most of 2011 trying to sign him for Hibs.
  12. They are no doubt hoping to meet some like minded females (or males) at the Tau Party taking place tonight. You can still just about make it, Ren! An evening of pi based fun
  13. Geek wars Never heard of this tau until today, but I'm converted. It seems inevitable though that the arguments will just go round in circles. (It's lunchtime and I'm bored, OK?)
  14. BBC now reporting that the player has been suspended. Not by the testicles, but at least it seems that Hearts are recognising that they were initially too lenient.

French midfielder who has had numerous short spells around the English lower leagues, and would have been at Southend at the same time as Richie Foran.
  16. And of course Terry has first hand experience of seeing how tricky it can be to deal with a diminutive attacker - and the strength in wee Maradonna's legs that enabled him to outjump Shilton
  17. His best bet would be to restart his career abroad. (Perhaps in a country where his crimes don't even register on the depravity scale, like Belgium or Austria.)
  18. Careful now, they'll be getting messages from Craig Thomson.
  19. Over the years we must have played dozens of HL teams in pre-season friendlies. How many times have we lost? I know the results hardly matter, but I'm struggling to think of any defeats, in recent years at least. I know we are the pro team and expect to win all these games, but when we are usually fielding an understrength, experimental and relatively unfit team, it's a bit of a leveller. When the boot was on the other foot, I can remember pre-merger Caley dishing out defeats to the likes of Hearts.
  20. Messi is 5'7", but I think Maradona is even smaller at 5'5". Two of the greatest players the world has ever seen. But I bet you if they'd been raised in Scotland, their clubs would have released them by the time they were 18!
  21. Glad to hear good things about a youngster at the club, sounds like he has talent. But at the risk of sounding negative, if he's as small as people are saying, how realistic is it that he will make it as a pro? Lightweight players can always bulk up a bit, slow players can work on speed, but it's not so easy to overcome a 'vertical' challenge. How many successful small players have there been in the SPL? I hope to see him play sometime and wish him continued progress. Onwards and upwards!
  22. Andrew Shinnie? Can't believe there hasn't been any mention of him on the forum
  23. I can't help recalling the milk advert from the 1980's that went "Accrington Stanley? Who are they?" "Exactly!" Basically the message to kids was that if you don't drink milk, you'll be a rubbish footballer and play for Accrington rather than Liverpool. Mr Gornell was obviously too young to have heeded the message.
  24. He has recently turned down the offer of a 2 year extension, and was reportedly interesting MK Dons and Crewe. Hibs were apparently having him watched last season too.
  25. Good win. To celebrate I'm off to Asda to hand over ?10 for a ?2 punnet of strawberries.
