Quick question
I found the Clyde match report on my PC! It was indeed the same week the gulf war started. Check out the final sentence of the report :(

Quick question
True, but after that and before Celtic we had a midweek game at Clyde, which was 4-1. Was this also the week that the invasion of Iraq started? I remember writing a match report for this site which referred to "shock and awe" as we went 3-0 down in the opening minutes, then got a great goal back from "Basra" Robson. We were awful that night and it was incredible that we could even compete with Celtic a few days later. Here's the team from Clyde. What a fantastic team we had back in those days, particularly as nearly all these players were in their prime. Inverness CT: Brown ,McCaffrey (Ritchie ,63 ) ,Mann ,Munro ,Golabek ,Tokely ,Hart (Stewart ,83 ) ,McBain ,Robson ,Wyness ,Hislop Subs not used Bagan,Fraser,

Dunfermline Thrown Out Of Cup
That is correct, they didn't actually submit team line up which was duly signed by a club official as is required. A minor technicality, perhaps, but part of an overall shambles or disregard for the rules. Interestingly when the teams were announced on Radio Scotland, Pars fans emailed and texted in pointing out that the player was suspended. Did none of them contact the club? Out of interest, what should the BBC or journalists do if they know prior to kick off the club have made such an error? Step in and help the club, or just let nature take its course like a wildlife film crew who watch baby animals getting eaten alive?

Dunfermline Thrown Out Of Cup
Dunfermline have defended their decision to put Buffy in charge of administration. The team lines are in beautiful pink.

Great time to be away on a "warm weather training camp" but he'll miss building snowmen and sledging.

Duff Gone
Is he aware that the arctic conditions don't last all season?

Duff Gone
He's maybe hoping that with Maurice Ross leaving Aberdeen, he'll get his chance.

Jefferies gone
And before that he did well at Gala Fairydean and then Berwick. Was he Gala manager when we (or rather Caley) put them out of the Cup round about 1985? As a player he played for Gala Fairydean, Berwick and Hearts, and went on to manager all 3.

Robson Moving On
Killen and Flood were just bad signings, but I'm very surprised Robson is being sold. He's been one of their better players recently, and it surely won't be cheap to get someone the same or better.

Jefferies gone
Good old "Mutual consent". I suspect Killie will be looking for a very cheap manager. They can't be far away from going bust.

African Cup of Nations
That's no use to me. And it clearly breaches the trade descriptions act. :008:

African Cup of Nations
Tournament now underway with what sounds like a cracking opening match. Hosts Angola go 4-0 up on Mali, who stage a comeback in the last 20 minutes to get a draw. Is there any television coverage of this tournament? BBC used to cover it in previous years but I haven't seen anything so far.

Scottish Cup Fifth Round Draw
Presumably because they won't fancy facing Motherwell? Killie/Falkirk would be disappointed with the dismal gate receipts they'd get against us, but they'd be more than happy with a pretty easy home tie.

Scottish Cup Fifth Round Draw
Eay path to the QFs for County.

Scottish Cup Fifth Round Draw
Away to Killie or Falkirk. Another awful draw.

Togo team bus ambushed
Seems likely that Togo will withdraw from the tournament. Republic of Ireland are applying to take their place.

Motherwell Game Off
The reason behind the inconsistency is that football grounds require a safety certificate and shopping centres etc do not. So the police are extremely influential in one, and not interested in the other.

Renegade's New Year Quiz
For the best goal ratio one, most clubs have a player who only made one or two appearances but got a goal.

Motherwell Game Off
That one's hardly a postponement! We were at Hampden that day for the Scottish Cup semi-final v Dunfermline (1-1).

Teletext and Ceefax
Interesting, I would put it down as the most left wing mainstream paper there is. Have you ever tried the Morning Star? Don't think you've been able to get it in the shops since the collapse of communism, but it has a website.

Strange as it may seem, I think you are both right.

Coyle to Bolton
We also refused to pursue Sir Alex and Arsene Wenger. Coyle had bigger ambitions and wasn't interested, plus we would never have paid the 6 figure compensation.

No, it goes up the A9 at about 40mph :( Their drivers apparently get a bonus based on the length of the resulting convoy.
