  1. Levein may well be the best Scottish candidate, but he has a secure job at Tannadice with a seat on the board too.
  2. Just thinking, Walter Smith's Rangers contract expires in a a few weeks and it remains to be seen whether they can afford to renew it. Would you take him back?
  3. Here we go again. With Burley set for the chop this week, who should replace him? There doesn't seem to be any obvious choice. Strachan would surely have been favourite if the SFA had done the right thing when the last qualifying campaign ended, but he is now at Middlesborough. Even Souness has ruled himself out, saying that not even the likes of Wenger couldn't do anything with this team.
  4. Hasn't he just been given a contract extension to 2012? And presumably if he goes, Butcher goes too.
  5. County have placed adverts in the press today, to recruit new directors (ie bring in new money). This is exactly what Dundee did to find the guy who is bankrolling their latest spending spree. In a big advert with the strapline "Ross County......more than just a football club" they boast about their Academy and stadium. The key paragraph is "Our current business model has worked in taking us to our current position, but importantly this model requires re-engineering and input from outwith our current operations to allows us the opportunity to grow" We've got our best ever chance of winning the first division but won't be able to go up to the SPL unless someone gives us a loads of money very soon. Anyone else tempted to apply?
  6. Did I hear right that Thierry was playing for Raith yesterday? Has he been without a club since he left us? He ought to do pretty well at this level.
  7. This move wouldn't surprise anybody. The Hamilton fans hate him but at least after the summer shenanigans they'll have had 6 months to get used to the idea of him joining.
  8. :dancing03: How did you get on scouting at Murrayfield today?
  9. Good day for us overall, after last week's disaster.
  10. Ayr equalise v County, hope they can hold on.
  11. Just thinking, an eagle hoovering a thistle might be a better depiction of the merger
  12. Cowie starting.
  13. Oops, I managed to erase from my mind Berti leading us to a famous 1-1 draw v NZ at Tynecastle in 2003. Scotland team included Brian Kerr and other superstars like Paul Devlin, Maurice Ross and Andy Gray.
  14. Well NZ made, 1-0 on aggregate. Last time I saw them play (and probably the only time) was at Espana 82. Scotlland's 5-2 win seemed good at the time but was arguably the result that put us out.

iain Stewart in the Albion game where we were 6-0 up at half time?
  16. The book is nothing to do with ICT. Try Amazon. (It's a big river that has millions of books floating in it, and the North Atlantic drift brings them to your door.)
  17. Does anyone else here play the BBC Scotland Predictor? Until recently there was someone in the top 10 with Caley in their username. A week ago I was about 4,000th in the league, but after one good weekend I'm up to 51st. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
  18. Well done mate, about time too. No more depressing posts moaning about the lack of job opportunities!
  19. As I recall it, ICT were well aware that their manager was hot property and offered a long term deal, as an incentive to turn down the Utd job. The key terms of it were agreed in principle with Pele but the contract was never signed. I'm not sure if this was just because of the time it takes contracts to go through lawyers and agents, or if the club were slow, or if it was because Pele knew that the Aberdeen job was imminent and he wanted to keep his options open. (It was widely rumoured that having initially agreed to go to utd he changed his mind at the last minute because he was advised by someone to sit tight and the Dons job would be his, but I don't know if that is true. Hopefully his book will clarify!) I believe though that despite the absence of a signed contract Pele ensured that ICT were fairly compensated, so it didn't make any difference in th end.
  20. Recent history shows that the Division 1 title is easily bought, and Dundee are the only team with money. When their Chairman goes public saying that they intend buying Utd's Robertson for ?500,000 in January it just highlights the gulf in resources. OK they might not get him, but will simply spend elsewhere to ensure they fulfil their ambition.
  21. I believe it's an IRA song.
  22. Found this on the publisher's website. http://birlinn.co.uk/events/?p=all
  23. Presumably Renegade will be at Murrayfield this Saturday, scouting those Fijians
  24. He's doing a book signing session at the stadium on Thursday evening, then at Waterstones on Saturday, and then at Elgin and Huntly later in the month. Not Aberdeen though!
  25. First I've heard of this, but straight away I'm looking forward to it. Here's the blurb.
