It really doesn't matter when the talks take place, it's the amount of money being offered that matters. A club with 3,000 regular fans isn't really in a position to offer as much as anyone else in the SPL (except perhaps Hamilton) unless we live beyond our means (Livi, Gretna etc)

I don't see the need to pass on the VAT saving. Surely if you are happy to pay ?20 to get in, you'll be even happier now that more of your ?20 goes to the club and less to the VAT man. And then in a year's time it all goes back up again, probably even higher than it was before. Crowds certainly won't be boosted by a 43p price cut. (What's wrong with his maths btw?) Will the caterers be taking 3p off a pie?

The rapid demise of Leeds is remarkable. Only 7 years ago they were a major force and in the Champions League semi-final. Their downfall arose from spending ridiculous money on poor players. A very fat Thomas Brolin is one that still brings a smile. But with the size of the city and fan base, I'm sure that one day they will be back in the top half of the Premiership.

It's incredible, and baffling. Only the OF have a better away record. Only Hamilton have a worse home record (but from 1 home game less than us). If our record was the other way round, the fans would be very content. As it is, 3,000 see us play badly and lose, while only 100 or so see us do well and win.

It was reported earlier that half the tickets remain unsold. Unless there is a late rush thanks to the Maradonna publicity, this could be a financial disaster for the SFA. I recall a few months back that Argentina were reported to be demanding a seven figure appearance fee.

Saw a newspaper headline at the weekend about Ralph Milne drinking 19 pints a day. Some might say this explains some of his posts here. Sounds like another legend who has fallen upon hard times - mind you, nobody got rich playing under Jim MacLean. I know a Utd fan who was down in south west England a few years ago, and happened to be told that if he went into a certain pub any afternoon he'd almost certainly find Ralph. Sure enough he was there, and a thoroughly decent bloke too. Presumably our very own Ralphy has fond memories of the player (unless he is an ironic Man utd fan).

This is terrible news. He might get injured and be out for the season. Or he might get spotted and leave us in January. And it's all Brewsters' fault for giving him his chance to break through. :thumb04: Well done lad, well deserved.
