  1. I recall that Fox and Byers seemed to get loads of games when they were this us. Fox in particular got more than he deserved. Byers had a bit of skill but was literally a lightweight. Bajram's brother?!
  2. I've heard about more and more people running their diesel cars on cooking oil - cheaper and better than the environment. Do they need to do any conversion, or do they just pour it in? Can't be good for the engine, surely?

    Mike Ashley

What strange goings on at Newcastle. Having brought keegan out of retiremnt, they now bring in Joe Kinear who hasn't managed for 4 years. And best of all, Ashley is in the process of selling the club to Nigerians. Presumably they made their approach with an email and are just waiting for him to provide his bank details.
  4. Any future son MUST be named Barry! Good luck!
  5. Based on the (lack of) responses so far, the apparent conclusion is that Brewster is the best man for the job.
  6. Paul Bradshaw. Just thinking, perhaps "Forgotten Zeroes" would be a better thread title.
  7. So who's going to start tonight's "Brew must go" thread?
  8. There was a league game (the following season I think) which was 7-3.
  9. Interesting to note the number of people advocating experimental line-ups. After the Arbroath game, the forum was full of fans howling that we should have played out strongest team, Brew was arrogant and understimated the opposition etc etc. My view is that if you can't try things out in a diddy cup against lower league opposition, then when can you? It's a great opportunity for fringe players and youngsters to get their chance and put pressure on underperforming first team regulars.
  10. The manager's decisions, some right some wrong, have got us to a satisfactory mid-table position. We are ahead of teams including Aberdeen, Dundee Utd and Motherwell, all of whom have bigger budgets and better players than us. The obvious conclusion is that Brewster must be a better manager and tactician than Levein, McGhee and Calderwood. Discuss.
  11. Two things you need to know : 1) A couple midfielders went off injured in that game leaving the manager with no choice. 2) Brewster wasn't the manager at the time.
  12. Naelifts had a paint stain on his trousers today that is almost as old as you, seriously! The comments of the over 50s on this thread are spot on.
  13. It was great to have Munro back, you could see today what we've been missing. The defending for the goal wasn't great though, and I would like to see it again because it just came out of nowhere. Don't think Fraser looks too clever, I think he started to come out then stopped in no mans land leaving an easy finish. Imrie, Barrowman and Tokely were very poor today. Black was the only real class we had anywhere on the pitch. However the team as a whole suffered from a lack of creativity and all our strikers were easily dealt with. If were ever going to get a goal it would have come from midfield.
  14. The substitutions were indeed surprising. I can only assume that Brew was thinking that whilst Black in the holding midfield role was clearly our best player, he wasn't really offering any attacking threat and a last throw of the dice was needed. Barrowman and Imrie would have topped my list of players to take off though.
  15. So I needn't have bothered incurring a ?2.50 booking fee? Romanov can buy me a pint in Diggers to make up for it.
  16. Commencing contract discussions with them doesn't mean they will be sorted. Getting 3 out of 4 to stay would be a very good outcome.
  17. Talking about failing organisations, Newcastle and now Man Utd are now sponsored (indirectly) by the UK and US governments respectively.
  18. ?21 this season, I think used to be ?16 which was best value in the SPL. Especially when we got an injury time winner!
  19. ....against a pretty weak Hibs one.
  20. This sounds like the chap well known to many here, who used to come on the website and take the p1ss out of ICT, but who has gone very quiet since we made it to the SPL. He'll be back on if and when we ever get relegated or go bust.
  21. Such is the fine line in football we are talking doom and gloom about a terrible result, when if Rooney hadn't missed a very good chance, we'd be riding high in a European place.
