ffs CB, give it a rest. DD was paying a genuine compliment for good service received, and you cannot resist trying to score a cheap political point from it. Now I know why I no longer read your longer, tedious, 'Nat bashing' posts.

Just watched the full Alba highlights on catch up. Not a bad performance at all. Yes, Aberdeen had most of the possession, and there were a few worrying moments towards the end, but generally our defence coped well. We looked dangerous on occasions going forward, more direct than Aberdeen, and the equaliser was a thing of beauty, and well deserved. Draper immense again. Roll on the first of the ugly sisters next week. I think its time we gave them another spanking. Onwards and upwards -
Well done bauhaus, I missed that one.

Advice on where to sit at first Caley Thistle game?
Caley Mad In Berks replied to Chloe Holland's topic in Caley Thistle
The 'singing' section seem to be much livlier at away matches. I don't get to many home matches but I did sit in the North stand for the St Johnstone game and there was hardly a peep out of them the whole game, except for a bit of a conga when we got the injury time winner. At away matches, however, they seem to chant and sing the whole game, which must be a great boost to the players. -
Aiden Chippendale scored a rare goal, his first of 2016, for Stalybridge Celtic, tonight (6 Sep) in a 3-2 win over Gainsborough Trinity in National League North.

My tuppenceworth. I would support option 2 whereby a poster could see who has given them green or red dots. Wasn't our system like this years ago? I'm not a 'red dotter', having only given a handful in over 10 years on this site, but I would guess the frequent users of 'red dots' might think twice if posters could see who had 'red dotted' them. Mods could easily see if someone was being unfairly picked on, and take whatever sanctions they felt appropriate. Alternatively, scrap them altogether (both green and red) and leave posters to reply to a post they strongly supported or disagreed with.

OK. touche! Or should that be Ok ouche? I can see CaleyD having a field day with this if others are as careless as I was.

As several posters have indicated, this has been one of our better 'windows'. Really pleased that we managed to hold on to both Tansey and Draper. Either one (or woe betide, both of them going) would have been really damaging to the team and the fans. Great to see a young loanee in Cole agree to come north from a Championship side. I hope it proves to be a success both for him and us. As a midfielder though, who will he replace if he grabs a first team spot with us? Vigurs? A decision Ritchie will have to make very soon! I'm not that excited about Brad MacKay, but I guess we need cover at the back if we won't see McNaughton again. I actually thought Horner did well against St J, and no doubt Raven will be pushing hard to get back in the starting X1. So all in all, I've regained some optimism for this season, with the good performance against St j, and what seems to have been not too bad a 'window' Onwards and upwards.

That is definitely the "Ingin Johnnie" who used to call regularly each year at each address I had in Inverness back in the early 50s. -

Just back from my trip up to Inverness. Very enjoyable match and a deserved win. Good to see Ritchie going for the winner late on by putting on 3 forwards, even though I thought Fisher had been quite good before he was subbed. Best for me was that my golfing chums I had in tow all thought that it was a good match and that the standard was better than they had expected. Hope that is the turning point for our league season and that we will now steadily climb to mid table or above.- 57 replies

Going off at a slight tangent, the nationality rules for countries selecting their squads for any sport has been questionable for decades. Years ago our golf club (Reading G C in Berkshire) used to hold an annual Anglos v Celts match, based very loosely on the Ryder Cup format. It always ended with a dinner at which both captains made a speech, amid much raucous banter, alcohol fuelled, from the opposition. Back in the 1990s I had the honour of captaining the Celts side on one occasion. I knew I would get stick from my opposite number about the eligibility of one or two 'ringers' I freely admit I had playing for the Celts, so I had prepared a defence indicating that I had used the same eligibility rules as the England cricket team. At that time it was liberally sprinkled with South Africans, Zimbabweans, Indians and Pakistanis, so, when it was my turn to speak, I analysed practically the whole England X1 explaining why their ancestry should really have precluded them from representing England. That is, all except two, Jack Russell ( and even he presumably had canine blood in him!), and big Malcolm from Devon (Devon Malcolm of West Indian origin). Although I say it myself, this last bit 'brought the house down', and not only did the Celts win the golf that year, we got the better of the battle of words in the post match dinner. Happy days.

I've picked a fine time for my first live match of the season next Saturday. That formation, if it were to be adopted, will really impress the 5 English, golfing pals I'll have in tow with me. They are already ripping the p*** out of me over our bad start to the league campaign, so a negative, 'park the bus', approach will be just what my visitors want to see and enhance their opinion of Scottish football no end. Having said that, I think I'd put up with the personal insults I'll receive, and take a 0-0 draw right now!
