Hamilton -V- Inverness CT
A win is a win. Thought we were ok in the first half without really asserting ourselves. There was a period at the start of the second half where we started running at them and looked like we might kill them off with a second, but that seemed to peter out with Polworth's shot straight at McGovern. I guess MacKinnon only got a yellow because he missed with the elbow, but you could see his reaction from our stand, so it was no surprise that he got a second yellow. The reaction from there was priceless, and pretty much secured his award as Scottish football's bellend of the century. The team selection wasn't exactly exciting either. Mutombo and Roberts have been our most promising attackers of recent weeks, but were on the bench, and we had four midfielders of similar ilk in Tansey, Draper, Vigurs and Polworth. So avoid defeat against Dundee and we finish 7th.

Will we lose Yogi to the Arabs ?
To be fair he was right in that. What he forgot to add was that we couldn't defend, and we're toothless up front for the most part.

Matchday Thread - Arabs on BT Sport
This is from watching on BT Sport. We probably should have got a draw, particularly given the chance Roberts had that came off his shoulder. And had we equalised, I think we would have gone on to win it. But we didn't deserve anything from the game, pure and simple. While Utds first goal was a good strike, the ball should never have been allowed to travel that far, and Murray should have been closed down. The second goal was poor all round. To be honest, given it was stoppage time, Polworth should have just fouled Murray. Then Fon Williams should have dealt with the shot better. For the third goal, words fail me - I guess we were chasing the game and were far too open. And then the come back - the one encouraging thing about last night was that we didn't hide at 3-0 down. Unfortunately we didn't have the quality to take advantage in front of goal. For those questioning what Storey was doing out wide - that's what he has done all season. If he had someone to aim at in the middle, I think we could do some damage. I could see the red card coming as soon as Roberts got the ball - Morris had about 5 attempts at Roberts before he got him. So, a microcosm of our season in one game. Didn't defend well enough, didn't convert enough chances. Lots of pretty football, no cutting edge. But at least we pressed hard again, more of that please. i thought the ref had a decent game (no, really). We could, maybe even should, have had a penalty, but I can see how it wasn't given. If there was any doubt - which there wasn't - that we need to get a proper striker in the summer, last night removed it once and for all.

IF we needed a new manager.....
What's the source for Mackinnon? Easter Road?
- So who are the two prospective new signings?

Inverness CT -V- FC Astra Giurgiu
From watching them I really don't know how good they are. I got the impression they did just enough to beat us, as they seemed to step up a couple of gears against West Ham and just beat them. Still, to lose 1-0 over two games to the Romanian champions probably isn't a bad result. I kinda wish I'd bought an Astra top while out there! If I did now I'd be a glory hunter

Partick Th -V- Inverness CT
Now ladies & gentlemen, that's how you end a hoodoo! What a result. Scored 4, could have been 8. Tremarco's opener was a cracker, and once Storey added the second the result was never in doubt. We cut Partick open at will and how Mutombo didn't get a goal (or more accurately a hat trick) I don't know. Our front three looked dangerous every time they went forward, and everybody had a good game. When you look at Roberts today, you really wonder why he has spent so much time on the bench when fit Partick were abject, it's the only word for it. As has been said above, plenty of positives today - finally ending any hint of relegation worries, completing the full set, and finally laying the Partick in the premiership bogey to pick just three. Three more ore wins to finish the season please!

Inverness CT -V- Kilmarnock
That could have easily finished 5 all! When we had our customary spell of pressure (about 4 corners in a row) without taking advantage, and then lost a sucker punch of a goal, I thought that it was going to be the same old story. The difference for me is when Draper pushes forward - the last 4 games I've been to he has scored against county, won the penalty vs Motherwell, set up Storey against Utd and won the penalty and scored a goal today. The red card was a game changer - nice to see us benefit from some crazy defending - and the decision to pull Higginbotham was a nice double bonus. Good to see us go for the kill in those circumstances. Killie looked terrible, when they went behind you could see their shoulders slump, but we still managed to let them create a couple of chances, and they should have scored at least once. For me Draper was MoM - him taking a more attacking role changed the game. Honourable mentions for Tremarco, and Fon Williams had a couple of good saves. And what was that stand side linesman about? All in all, three points that just about ensure top flight football next season, but as others have said, let's push on and finish 7th. Starting with a win at Partick next week - so that sneckboy can complete his set of home and away wins in the top flight!

And he had made such a success of signing forwards during his tenure!

Team for Hearts
This. He still has a tendency to produce a yellow card tackle a bit too often, but his attacking play down the left flank has been a definite bonus lately.

Dundee Utd -V- Inverness CT
It looks even more bizarre second or third time. I assumed Gunning thought that play had stopped, but there was absolutely nothing there to give the impression that play needed to be stopped. So, deliberate handball, leaving the pitch without permission and then entering the pitch without permission. And not one yellow card? WTF.

Dundee Utd -V- Inverness CT
I was going to say that it was a good win yesterday, but given just how bad Utd were, anything other than a win would have been a disaster. Having said that, you still have to go and win the game, and we did. That is the most comfortable I have seen us all season, and when Utd did get a few chances, Fon Williams was more than up to the task. Both goals were well taken - I have to admit that until Vigurs scored I was worried that those two misses by Storey would be costly. I thought the defence looked more solid. There was just the one real snafu when Fon Williams headed the ball to Warren, who gave him it back and we found ourselves under pressure. It looks like the centre halves have been told to get the ball up the park, rather than allow themselves to be closed down while tippy-tapping, and they coped well with everything Utd threw at them. Tremarco continues to impress, although he still manages to get at least one wild tackle in that leads to a booking. Meekings seems to be getting more comfortable at full back, and while I would prefer him at centre back, I think yesterday's defence is the best use of the resources we have fit. In midfield Tansey had one of his poorer games - his distribution was shocking. Draper was a bit inconsistent, Polworth did some nice things and Vigurs had some nice touches but seems to need a bit too long on the ball. He took his goal well, though. Storey and Mutombo worked hard up front, but as usual most of their work was done out wide. Pit was nice to see Vincent back, although apparently not everyone agreed. Can we give the booing our own players a rest? Talking of booing, the Utd fans. Wow. Just Wow. How can you unveil that crappy "the fight's not over" banner and then spend 90% of the game in silence and half of the other 10% booing your own team? And walking out at 2-0 down with 40 minutes left? And finally, Craig Thomson (or was it Stephen Thomson, that would explain a lot). What a complete joke of a performance. Mutombos booking was completely orchestrated by the Utd player, Fon Williams was orchestrated by the Utd fans (how was what he was doing different from Ripley last week?). And the Gunning thing was a total farce. Pick up the ball while still in play. Walk off the pitch, then walk back on and sit down for treatment. How is there not at least a booking in there? And the Utd fans had the temerity to complain that we got a free-kick?

Referees Today and Tuesday
No. The refs we get don't have bad games. It is a general poor standard of officiating that runs through Scottish football. The inconsistency is a killer, both in the same game, and game to game. Ripley should have been taken to task for time-wasting yesterday. Fon Williams has had a number of cautions for time wasting when doing pretty much what Ripley did yesterday. I am in no way saying that our poor results are down to refereeing. Tactics, and personnel have that more than covered. I don't think that we are having game changing decisions given against us. But you just need to look at other games (not involving us) to see the dearth of competent officials in our game. I am starting to wonder if there is a scheme to make Collum look average.

Grim. But if we can repeat that over the next 6 games it will be just enough.

Contract Situation
If we want to not lose out on players, we should be doing 2 things in my opinion. Firstly, we should be looking to develop as much of our own talent as possible. Secondly, we need to become more savvy contract wise. If a player is on a three year deal, we should be looking to extend that in year 2. If we can't, we should be considering whether it would be better just to sell that player with a year to go, rather than let them go for nothing at the end of the third year.

Inverness CT -V- Motherwell
While it would be good to get something from Hearts, the Utd one is more important, as a win next week would make it highly unlikely that they could catch us.

Inverness CT -V- Motherwell
Smash and grab was exactly what it was today. Motherwell came for a point. We went after 3 in injury time and paid the price.
