  1. Disappointed not to get more from the game against a pretty average looking United side. Boden's goal looked like it came from the training ground. We were cut open a bit easily for the equaliser, and it looked like united might grasp the initiative, but after the first 5 minutes of the second half they looked like they'd settled for penalties. Mulraney looked good when he came on, but the treatment handed out to him by United was pretty disgusting, and the referee offered little protection. Tremarco and King look to have the basis of a decent partnership down the left, but King could do with taking the shot rather than looking for a pass. There is some promise there, but we nee to be a bit more clinical in front of goal.
  2. This is my concern. 1 queue at the turnstiles replaced by a potentially longer one at the ticket office, and another one again at the turnstiles.
  3. And move it to the ticket office.
  4. Easy enough win in the end, we had enough chances to win more comfortably - we hit the woodwork three or four times. Warren could have been sent off before he scored, so I guess we got a break there. Of the new signings, I thought they all did ok. McNaughton looked comfortable enough, Mulraney had some nice touches. King did some nice work, but could have got more involved. Boden put in a nice pass for the opening goal. I'm not convinced that Boden is suited to a lone striker role, but I suppose it is still early days, and a win is a win. We limited Cowdenbeath to few chances, but there were a couple near the end where they should have at least hit the target. Dundee United should offer more of a challenge next week, and that will give a better guide to how we may fare in the league.
  5. Hearts are abbreviated to HMFC on their club crest.
  6. Not being able to play against the parent club forms part of SPFL regulations (or it did last season).
  7. For the purposes of perceived financial gain, and associated baggage, the Rangers from 2011-12 and next season can be considered as equivalent.
  8. Pick up the phone and check. If you need the money that badly, don't assume, make sure. If nothing else it may serve to jog memories of how the fixtures worked last time Rangers were in the top flight - which was four seasons and a change of administration ago. If nothing else, haven't they learnt that you cannot assume the Scotish football authorities will do the right/fair/sensible thing? To be fair, I assumed that it would be three home old firm games before the split. But I'm not responsible for the finances of a football club.
  9. I agree that it would make sense to have 3 OF games at home before the split. And, I do think they have a point. Its just the level of outrage that their assumption didn't happen, and the fact they felt no need to check that I am having difficulty with.
  10. Wow. Two games I have actually been to! This may be my favourite game ever - certainly gave the Cup semi & final last season a run for their money.
  11. I see that Partick, Motherwell and Hamilton are unhappy at only receiving 2 home games vs the Old Firm, and have written to the SPFL. The MD of Partick was on Sportsound complaining they had assumed that they would have had three games but didn't bother confirming. Apparently, the difference in revenue is £120k, or 5% of Partick's revenue. This may explain why Scottish football is in such a mess. If I was running a business, and there was a decision that could reduce my revenue by 5% I would be making damn sure I knew beforehand what was happening, and making the necessary representations to help the decision land in my favour. I certainly wouldn't assume it would all work out ok - especially with Doncaster in charge.
  12. My birthday. Oh, and we beat Gretna 5-0 in the challenge cup.
  13. I always thought he did OK up front given the service he was given. I agree, he was a real handful at Dingwall. And, as others have said, it isn't fair to judge given he was brought as a midfielder and never played there.
  14. Ever been to Leith?
  15. "Feck you Yogi, the Raven's here to stay, the Raven's here to stay"
  16. Templeton had done hee haw at Rangers, and not sure we need another midfielder in Law. Would be keen to have s look at Clark. Whether we could afford him is another matter.
  17. Good luck Deano. It's a shame that injuries blighted your time here.
  18. SpongeBob square-head doesn't have a clue. Would need video analysis equipment to distinguish his back-side from his elbow.
  19. While not in the "good riddance" camp, I can't help but feel that this has been inevitable since we knocked back the approach by Dundee Utd, and some of the stuff he has been coming out with in the media has sounded like a man trying to work his ticket out of Inverness. Undoubtedly he will go down in history as the manager who brought us our first (and hopefully not last) major trophy, and took us to Europe for the first time too. However, there were serious questions around player recruitment - most people could see that we were short of numbers up front *before* Mckay left, and his forward recruitment was, at best, patchy. A lack of a plan B when teams sussed out our tactics was another weakness. And hopefully this means I don't have to endure another game as eye-bleedingly bad as the last one at Dens Park. The constant griping about finances was becoming tiresome - such matters should not be aired in public - and if I'm honest, I'm not convinced that Yogi was the man to be trusted with a budget that pushed us to the limit. So he leaves with best wishes, but I can't say I'm gutted like I was when the likes of Pele or Robbo left.
  20. The thing is that Hughes is quite right with his comments. BUT - on previous history it is debatable whether he is the man to either retain or recruit the quality of player he is talking about. Also, had it not been for questionable tactics, we could have had one, or possibly two, cup finals this season.
  21. Sadly, I'm not surprised. Unless there is a plan in place, which given Yogi's comments on the BBC website - where he says we need to win tomorrow to get seventh (finger on the pulse, eh) and afford to offer contracts - seems doubtful. This summer is going to be the ultimate test of Hughes' player recruitment skills. I really hope they aren't as bad as they have been to date, or we could be in real trouble next season.
  22. There's been a Reformation? Never mind 500 years, some in Govan are struggling with a reformation that took place nearly 4 years ago.
  23. But the magic 8 ball said otherwise. You get the impression that SPFL board meetings are a constant steam of people saying "What? How did that happen?" and policy-making on the hoof.
  24. You've not been allowed to bring your own drink (non alcoholic) into Scottish football grounds since the early 80s - in case you were trying to smuggle booze in. Also, when they sell you a bottle of juice, you don't get to keep the lid in case you use it as a missile.
