  1. Very well said. An enjoyable “competition” but a lot of work goes into it. Thanks Gringo, and also for doing the Prediction League.
  2. I have no idea how long Sutherland will be out for, but we must stand by him and offer him new terms.
  3. What a rollercoaster of a season. A great start, albeit a bit flattering, a dire middle, then a great finish to make the play offs. Over the two legs, St Johnstone deserved to win, but it could have been so different had we not lost the second goal or if Doran had pulled one back. I wanted us to win and get promoted but, being totally honest, I was concerned that we could be the whipping boys next season unless we got our recruitment spot on. I hope we can use the last two months as a foundation for next season, and strengthen our squad as well as replacing those key players we will be losing (eg Broadfoot, McAlear). Priorities for me are full backs and creative players who can provide the assists for Mckay and Samuels. We have a decent nucleus with guys like Ridgers, Deas, Harper, Carson, Allardice, MacGregor, Walsh, Samuels and Mckay under contract, but we may see bids for Deas and MacGregor. If Devine is likely to sign a new contract, that is great news. We also have promising youngsters in Hyde and Lewis Nicolson who should be ready for more exposure. Both have looked to have potential this season. Hopefully we have them tied up for next season too. We probably did as well this season as we could have expected, let’s go one better next year (and a cup run of two would be good too). Thanks to the CTO team for the previews and reports each week: always a great read.
  4. No. The defence in their final warm up is Duffy, Broadfoot, Devine and Deas so a 4.
  5. If the BBC have our formation right, it is: Ridgers Duffy Broadfoot Devine Deas Carson Welsh McAlear Chalmers Mckay Samuels with MacKay, Harper, Doran, Allardice, Hardy and Hyde on the bench.
  6. In Perth. The rain went off part way down the A9 so conditions should be good. Parked behind the Glover’s Arms as it’s car park looks pretty full and I’m not a customer. Dobbies have locked their car park up. Plenty scope to park in this area and access to the A9 should be pretty easy. Excitement is building….

  8. I bought mine today and am in D. The way I read it, they have only opened up D for us so far: https://www.perthstjohnstonefc.co.uk/travelling-support/?ftredirect=1
  9. Me too. Going to Perth in hope more than expectation!
  10. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s game. We are the underdogs but, if we play the whole game how we played the last half hour on Friday, we have a chance. How fit Allardice is may be key. If we can get an hour (or more) from him, I’d play him from the start so he can impose himself and our midfield in the game. When he tires, I’d move Carson into midfield and bring Duffy in at right back. Therefore, Devine for Harper, with Deas moving to left back, is the only change I’d make to the team that finished the game on Friday. Chalmers and Samuels providing the width and supporting Mckay, with McAlear also getting forward in support worked on Friday and it can work again. Come on Caley Thistle, make it a night to remember!
  11. Norwich paid £250,000 when they bought him from Motherwell in 2019 so sadly I doubt we would be able to afford his wages should he be a free agent in the summer.
  12. Anyone with advice on parking at Perth? Not been at their ground since the road layout changed with the new junction off the A9 so not sure what the best area to head to is. Thanks.
  13. I’d start Welsh ahead of Doran as the three in the middle worked when Allardice came on and we need to be competitive against their 5. I hadn’t realised young Mackay was Dan’s brother. Hope he turns out as influential as Dan did for us.
  14. Wow! It looked amazing in the ground but even better seeing all the angles. That tops his goal of the season against Dunfermline. I doubt we can keep him for next season but hopefully he gets a club that gives him game time and the chance to realise his potential.
  15. We showed St Johnstone too much respect by changing our formation and going 3 5 2 to match them. It just didn’t work and credit to Dodds for admitting he got it wrong. Going to 4 4 2 made us competitive and stopped St Johnstone outclassing and overrunning us and we got a foothold in the game and then, in my biased opinion, a deserved equaliser, and we came so close to sneaking a winner. I’ve not watched it back so can’t comment on the offside but I was pleased the ref let the move continue when McCart went down and what a finish by McAlear. It’s nice to get the rub of the green after recent events. As for the equaliser, what a strike by McAlear. He’d had a poor first half but that is forgiven. I felt Allardice made a big difference when he came on. He added a calmness and always found a pass. Hopefully he is fit enough to start on Monday. Samuels had a great 45 too. What a mix of emotions we have as Caley Thistle fans. Outclassed and lucky to only be 2 down, but then getting back in it. We’ve shown we don’t need to fear St Johnstone so time to kick on and overcome the odds once again on Monday. I hope we take a big, noisy crowd down the A9.
  16. Looks like there will be a big travelling support: six sections of the south stand on sale now: https://ictfc.com/matchday-info-st-johnstone-h-20-05-2022 I’m looking forward to the guys and girls in the west stand abusing them after we take the lead!

  18. What number are sales at? I popped into the shop just after lunchtime to get my ticket onto my season ticket card and the lady said they had been very busy with sales.
  19. And don’t block any accesses as they tannoyed for cars to be moved during the Killie game.
  20. The sending off was wrong. The appeal decision was wrong. The statement is spot on. It is designed to motivate everyone, on the park and in the stadium, to ensure justice is done by doing everything possible to secure promotion. We now need to put this behind us and focus on the final. By my reckoning, given the injuries and suspensions, we will only have 15 players available, so there are few decisions to be made about our starting line up unless we have any miraculous recoveries. The interesting bit will be who the front 4 are. I’d go with: Ridgers Carson Broadfoot Deas Harper Welsh McAlear Samuels Doran Chalmers Mckay with MacKay, Allardice, Hyde and Hardy on the bench.
  21. I’ve just been able to watch the game back tonight. What guts it took to see us through that given the adversity we faced. I was impressed by the spirit, teamwork and determination watching it at the ground on Friday, but even more so watching it back tonight. Many teams would have crumbled given the adversity faced but our guys stuck together and encouraged each other through it. True, we didn’t play a lot of football, but the ground conditions and wind had a hand in that. I hope justice is (partly) done and we have Devine for Friday’s game. We can still dream!!
