  1. I'd like to think it was Dundee Utd. That would be horrid for him to join Dundee - good player.
  2. signing for Dundee apparently :( traitor! :)
  3. True it does take some imputus from us lot. If I were a resident in Inverness I'd love to be involved in stadium announcing or working with the highlights online. Sadly living and working in the 'burgh sees that as fairly impracticle from my side. And for the record the people such as yourself who do volunteer do a stellar job and deserve all the credit. I would just think it better if the club was to try and push for fan involvement rather than appearing to reluctantly agree to it. Not saying thats how it is, just how it appears.
  4. Same. Hopefully the club will take in some more stuff in large. Was really wanting a keeper top but theres only small and medium ditto, me being 6ft 1 and weighing 220lbs so i doubt very much a medium top will fit me :( Sleep in the washing machine, usually works. Oh cheers! cut down to just the 1 pie at half time perhaps?
  5. Could we not just get Pavels back?
  6. Would it also be too much to ask of a club to step into the 21st century and be more pro=active on these fronts? Why do the fans have to suggest and run everything.... and meet heavy resistance in the process or at best no help at all. I thought this was meant to be a community club?
  7. Are you winding us up "starchief"? I must have been asleep when the transfer figures were announced! Eh try ?100k for rankin, 100k for Cowie, nothing for black (bosman) nothing for Vigurs (released therefore not entitled to compensation) Rankin Black and Cowie easily worth a million if sold at premium. Sorry, I credited some posters with too much sense of subtlety ...it's like bronzey and goldey, except made of iron... Oh sorry my mistake, I seem to have overlooked your rapier wit
  8. I think that the board could quite easily kept him on till at least the summer at least and should have. They could easily limit his January spending - "you've spent ?250million, we await a return on our investment" - Hughes could hardly have argued In all fairness to the board if my manager came to me and suggested we spend around ?14 million on Kolo Toure I'd probably sack him then and there. Highly overrated and Wenger was not all that fussed to lose him and would have been delighted to get all that dosh for him. I'd rather have Dunne to be honest. Have you seen how defencively tight Villa are this season?!
  9. Yeah I was one of those crazy people. Imagine getting something good and proactive of the ground whilst getting involved with the local community. What an idiotic idea! I am assuming the sarcastic dig is aimed at the club ? Perhaps this thread should be read first ? Not too many volunteers have stepped forward though ! http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...showtopic=15936 Sarcasm? aimed at the club?! ...........no never! I would never take a dig at the glorious and excellent business peeps who run this club soo sooo well and actively try to involve the fans at every opportunity. I would do it but a) I live in Edinburgh and i aint paying for a bus/train fee every week cos I cant afford it I dont have the equipment - though I imagine local colleges do.

  12. Dont get me wrong, I think that Levein has done a good job at Utd as is probably the best young manager in Scotland presently but i think a more experienced head, someone less likely to use the opportunity as a Premiership stepping stone if he does well, would have been the better call. Im not saying Craig is gonna do this but we cant compete with Premiership gold and doing well at international level would make people take notice. Lars Lagerbeck was mentioned and has previously declared an interest. This is a guy who got Sweden to every tournament from Euro 2000 to 2008, likes the British game and has organisation skills that would bode well for a team of our nature. Plus he has lager in his name. I can suddenly see Born Slippy by underworld becoming a tartan army chant He would have been my 1st choice.
  13. I'd try and cash in on Barrowman... or give him a run at least! Think we should get rid of Golly and Zadi and look for a good left back. I thought Bulvitis was only signed until January as well? Either punt him or replace him with better.
  14. I'd say promotion is pretty hard now but certainly not impossible. Rememeber when we were a similar distance behind Clyde and pulled it back? Though I'd be satisfied with a good top half finish... above County.
  15. I think it was a little shoddy. In the last few weeks, bar Tottenham, they've been playing really good stuff and players like Tevez and Bellamy have been excellent. Fair enough, Mourinho did it 1st time round but he had Terry and Lampard already at the club. Leaders on the pitch. The type to help other settle. They also had a good squad to start with. Add to that a winning mentality in the fact they regularly already qualified for Europe and won cups etc and hey presto. It was kind of a 1 off. Wenger and Ferguson both had to build a team like most managers usually do. They could easily not let him spend in January. Simply say you've spent ?250m and have to justify that 1st. Mark Hughes only really made 1 mistake. Replacing Dunne who has now helped Aston Villa become very defensively sound, with Toure who isnt that good. Arsenal are better off without him. Injuries to key players hasnt helped. They have been without either Adebayor, Tevez, Robinho or Santa Cruz at any 1 point thus far and the defence hasnt been much better. Which aint gonna help them become a tight knit defensive unit. Put it this way, Im not sure Mancini is that much better. Inter seem to be able to win the league without much effort these days and Im not sure it was his major influence that was a key factor. Moreso Juve being relegated and Milan and Lazio being docked points. I think that the SFA should sit up. Took on a similar job at Wales and did well and therefore has the experience to go with that. Not sure Levein is ready yet. but maybe Hughes wasnt or Klinsmann etc - ah dunno.
  16. Well if it was me I think i'd like to be treated as normal. Have a joke about it. The guy has a problem and he'll face dark days and that'll be what he needs to overcome. Sure it was all meant in good humour.
  17. I saw this in the paper. McManus had 1 too I think. Danny Wilson has 1 too. " Uncle Davie's taking me to Pizza hut for ma dinner.... Result! "
  18. I think a fairer and more realistic solution would be for Rangers, Celtic et al to have an affiliate club that is already in the 3rd division say for example Queens Park and send their reserves there. Paying the wages of the players and investing a yearly fee towards the running of the club (something like an extra 50k would easily keep a club in the 3rd running for a season.) Certain rules would have to be in place. In Spain you have to register a playing squad at the end of both windows. You cant just take in players from outwith this group for league games. So Celtic could just stick an injured player in the 3rd to get fitness then take him back after a month to play as he wouldnt be registered until the next window. The lower league club could only remain affiliated until (if they) they reached the 1st division after which they would be limited to loan signings and the yearly payments would end. I dont get it. I have all these great ideas and yet Gordon Smith has not yet been in touch. Maybe if I aired them elsewhere than the CTO board....
  19. I think its a good signing for a month. There is no real risk and we aren't exactly setting the heather alight with what we've got so any addition helps. He's a decent midfielder. Reckon he has only played in defence because Aberdeen were short in that department. He is a decent SPL midfielder and we are a mid table 1st division team currently so bring him on and hope he does a job. Its kind of like an extended trial somewhat too. Never know, if he's good we might sign him.
  20. Eh you crazy?! If John Collins becomes national manager, Im becoming English. He's utterly hopeless. Left Hibs after a year, then did the same at Charloi Levein is a good shout. We need someone to make the team hard to beat again and get back to the way McLeish had us playing. It was far more entertaining to watch than GB's team. For someone who wanted us to play football. His idea of it was complete tedium. Alan Irvine has done very well at Preston and Billy Davies has a good track record. But please, for the love of god, not Collins!
  21. But we cant keep on picking him for the sake of not having another CB. There are other players that can play CB. If he stays in for Saturday i can see us losing badly to Airdrie Given they are bottom of the league then I'd like to think we wouldn't get humped. Granted though, he ain't good enough at centre half. We need to have a good look in January. As for McBain, it does seem strange to give him a new 1 year deal in the summer and not play him. Especially given his experience and energy levels would probably be quite handy right now. It might have been just as well giving Vigurs a new deal if we are not going to play him. But team would be: - Esson - Tokely - Munro - Golly - Shinnie Proctor - McBain Hayes - Sanchez - Foran - Rooney - Bench : Allison; Bully, Cox, Ross/Imrie, Odiambho I know Shinnie is untried at this level but I think moving the stable Golabek inside with Granty, as well as Tokely should stable the ship. And how else will he get tried out at any level without playing. Besides anything has got to be better than lionel the bomb....scare! Might be worth having Ross on the bench and dropping out Imrie. I agree with earlier posts. (possibly in other threads) He's far to selfish and is all about his out personal glory at times. And I think McBain is a better player than Duncan.
  22. sanchez - absolutely awful and thinks scottish football is easy with him trying his stupid tricks, Same with Juanjo Bully - If thats a centre back, then someone tell butcher that im available on saturdays as i could do a better job than that. Barrowman - plucked from county far too early, worked with Rankin and Cowie but not with Barrowman Cox, Eagle, Stratford, LDZ - Where are they now if they are so great? Which part of that is wrong? I think its a little harsh laying into Cox. He's only 18/19 and players of that age rarely have much consistency. Hedoes have some evident talent. Stratford was signed from college football in the US. He ain't going to adapt overnight. He may never do but again he's young and has no 1st team experience to draw upon in a very inconsistent team that we have. Eagle is another with no 1st team action prior to ICT. Again he is also young. Not everyone is going to hit the ground running. Especially if the team is not gelling. LDZ is just a bomb-scare. As for Sanchez, a typical flashy, ace sometimes, anonymous the other times, type. Bully would probably be better up front, or swap him and Rossco about perhaps? A new centre half is required. I dont think Barrowman will ever get going and we should try and get a fee in January. I though he might do well this season but sometimes you just have to cut your losses.
  23. Bit of topic, but how on earth did you manage to afford those guys wages?! In reference to the topic. We are in the mix and thats where we want to be. Being slightly behind allows us to sneak up and gain momentum. Nothing will really become apparent until about march or around 25 games in. As it stands we are only a 3rd of the way into the season so way too early to start getting ahead of ourselves. But I Believe!
  24. Perhaps with there being a change in general manager (Mike Smith leaving) then now is a good time to raise this issue. A fresh face might like the idea of utilising technology. In my opinion ICT has always been a little slow in embracing the Web and other such devices. If we can find a model that is cost effective - even if it does no more than cover its costs (profit for the club would obviously be preferrable) then it seems suprising that the club wont even look into it. Put it this way, if Clyde and Livi can run 1, then surely we can afford it. I doubt a limited goal/major incident only package would take fans away from the games as the club seems to somehow fear. Keep it similar to the Beebs website SPL round-up. 3-5 minutes max. It is indeed quite frustrating that there are local, willing fans offering to get it up and running. Set up websites etc and yet the club ignore it. And thus by doing this basically stoppong it ever happening as it wouldnt be as Caley D said economically viable to run independently.
  25. :024: What, i give you guys the inspiration. Now off you go and do something about it :D
