  1. I would go along with keeping it to one of the Inverness lads though I wouldn't want to rule out the likes of Shane. If there's as much interest next season as there was this then we should be able to maybe getting our name to the boots and training gear of two or three as well as our main sponsorship
  2. Yep. Great to see Charlie and his team are producing the goods. Eight signings in one season is excellent.
  3. My understanding is that Adam Rooney is waiting to speak with his family about his future options before deciding what to do next. So its a simple poll to pass some time.
  4. As usual it'll be one of them. Personally I dont give a damn which one. Neither does anything for me other than get my back up at their 'we are superior' attitude towards every other team in the country.
  5. ?80k more than eighth place
  6. My understanding is that the club have had to let go quite a few U-19 players who were deemed not good enough for that league. Being as we must compete in that league as part of the SPL conditions then it could well be that many of those triallists are being looked at for that purpose. may well also be a few real gems among them as well.
  7. That was the 05/06 season and we finished with a points total that, had there been no split, would have seen us in 4th position in the league. What your suggesting wouldn't work I dont think but I agree its annoying. That season we won all our post split games and assisted in the near demise of Ferranti Thistle
  8. Cant comment on whether or not it was deserved from out here in the north sea but my understanding is that the card was given for violent conduct. If thats the case in the refs report then its a ban. It doesn't matter if its a push in the chest or a kick in the face. If its a deliberate act of violence as opposed to a malicious tackle then its a worse offence and unless there is evidence to the contrary then I dont think there's a right to appeal.
  9. The way things have been handled in this instance beggar's belief. Obviously there was no prior inkling that the players in question were being released as both Grant and Russell appear shocked by the decision. The other two I'm not surprised at due to their age. They will all find clubs though. However, the timing seems to be a bit off considering we still have four matches to play and those players will be needed for all those matches. The P&J does indicate they will be away at the weekend so where does that leave us for the run in. We need at least five points from the next four to ensure we stay seventh and our league position is crucial to our finances for next season so I would have thought it would have made more sense to keep the squad happy and wanting to play all those games before making this decision. Grant could do well to try for a position at St Johnston. They need players of his quality and he would easilly be able to commute from Sneck.
  10. Every season in SPL survival has been the priority. The general consensus was always that we finish eleventh and anything above that was a bonus. Butcher stated after we were promoted back up last season that he would take his team to the top end of the SPL within two years. Is that going to be the drive now? Does he have players in mind that could achieve that? Next season is when Butcher will sink or swim. It is always sad when good players move on or are pushed out. Its happened in the past and it'll happen again. I'm sure those who are leaving will continue to play at a high level and be successful wherever they go and I wish them all the best.
  11. That wasn't meant to sound a negative comment about a past memory. SMEE believes that to have been the most enjoyable game he has ever witnessed. A game between the top two teams in div 2 at the time. Is it not a sad reflection that that game, even though we came through div 1 twice and have had six seasons in SPL, Knocked Celtic out of cup twice. Achieved great success since then, turns out to be his most enjoyable.
  12. That's an apples and oranges analogy. First of all, Vigurs was young player who had only been at the club for a relatively short time. Duncan has played consistently and consistently well for over a decade. ICT weren't always noticeably better or worse, whether Vigurs played or not. It is pretty much indisputable that ICT are a far superior team when Duncan plays. Questions were asked, and rumours surfaced in early 2009, that Vigurs in training was either late, didn't turn up, or simply came across as lazy and uninterested. No-one can doubt that passion and commitment that Duncan has and continues to have for ICT. This'll be the same Vigurs who's too good to stay at county after this season. Good enough to play for Celtic but will likely sign for Hibs or Cheltenham Town. He is quoted as having told someone that. Anyway whoever gets Russel is getting a bargain.
  13. Shows how bad things have come in football today when a second division championship encounter from 12 years ago is the talking point of this day.
  14. I believe Brian has given up football.
  15. I think this story and this one tell a story. Especially this paragraph: He said: ?People have asked me if the players out of contract are playing for their futures. It does not matter if you are out of contract, if you have a year?s contract or two years, you are playing for your future in every game. ?It does not make any difference to me whether they have a few weeks, months or years left. You should approach every game with the same commitment and enthusiasm. Sounds to me like there could be quite a clear out. And McCann back in the fold.
  16. Now that the facts are known I expect cairngorm to come back on and publicly apologise to Charlie and his team of coaches and to acknowledge that the problems were outwith the control of those involved with ICT. Accept that you took a half story and tried your damnest to make it into a big black mark for ICT without thinking out what you were saying or puting forward the whole picture. Its the organisers of the tournament created the problem. Remember also that these tournaments are a means of developing the kids. Getting them used to competition and to being away from home. Its about letting them experience the game outside of their own communities and about developing their skill. I'm quite sure that, even if they didn't play in the final, they will have gained a great deal from the trip and will put that to good use in their future playing careers.
  17. Let the kids go on the ferry as foot passengers with a responsible adult , (the mini bus can follow later) get the kids bus or train tickets when they land in the UK . Every football fan is affected by this , as they want to have a strong football grounding in Scotland ( when was the last time we were in a major final) If you had read the posts properly you would have seen i said the kids parents paid for this trip It was a final , it was NOT cancelled as you said , the final was played ( Caley reached it)but could not partake because of lack of organisation. I never said the final was cancelled. I made reference to your quote (below) that the cancelled Celtic game had somehow affected this. You really do need to engage your brain before replying. Read things properly and realise a bit of logic and common sense.
  18. cairngorm you seem to be very bitter for someone who's not affected by this. Perhaps you should stop and engage your brain before rambling on. First thing is the youth set up at ICT is run as its own entity and is funded by donation and Flybe sponsorship. It is not funded by the club, as such, and would not be affected by any cancelled game as you seem to imply. Second point is the ferry. It is extremely difficult to find space at very short notice for a coach and its passengers. I'd go so far as to say it would be unlikely that space was available on any of the ferries.
  19. I believe Terry is hopeing to persuade Blackburn to give us Doran for next season. Until we know who is leaving then its very hard to say who, or what position, we need.
  20. Not having heard or read anything about this I can't really comment other than to say that, knowing who the coaches, and especially the head of youth development, are I'm very surprised at this. If someone has made a mistake then I hope they have learned from it and plans are put in place to ensure it can never happen again.
  21. IHE, I wonder if your ratings would be the same had you been at the game. I was there then watched on tv after and it seemed like two different games. I think everyone played a great game and worked well for each other. For the most part they tried to play football but the pitch let some down badly. The ball generally done its own thing and Ross and Sutherland found it very difficult to do what they do best. All in all a very good performance from us but Saints deserve some credit. They made plenty chances but just couldn't score.
  22. What the hell is this world coming to when a bit of harmless fun can be construed as inciting hatred. Christ almighty get a life and a sense of humour everyone. Daily ranker Oh no........through my window I see some children playing soldiers. Better phone plod and have this mockery of war stopped.
  23. Going to be interesting to see what he does here. I think I'd try Hogg on the right with Cox Munro and Gillet along the line.
  24. Of course he is the wronged party, but even when you're the "victim" you sometimes need to take a step back and ask yourself, why? I'm not saying he deserved it, but it's his inability to look at himself and see that the way he conducts himself might have played a part, that makes it hard for me to have any sympathy for him. As I said already, O'Neil never got anything like this kind of hassle when he was in the job but he was Irish and Catholic. If I accept for a moment that this was a purely sectarian act then why Lennon and not O'Neil? Would I be justified in saying that there must be something in the way Lennon has a habit of rubbing people up the wrong way that's pushed the person/people responsible over a line they haven't previously crossed? If so, does that not highlight that the event is not purely driven by sectarianism? That's the point I am trying to make here. Again, I'm not saying there's not a problem with sectarianism, I'm saying that you can't just lump it all under the one label. Whilst we continue to do that and don't deal with all the issues then the battle to stop it is going to remain an impossible one. And therein lies a very big difference. Lennon is catholic but NOT Irish and if you know anything of Ulster you'll know that catholics, historically, have been treated very differently within that country.
  25. Lennon was a hard man on the field but so were many other players, including one or two who played for our club. He gave up international football when he and his family were threatened after he had stated he'd be willing to play for a United Ireland Football team if that was forced on that island by FIFA. That organisation doesn't like that there are two teams in Ireland any more than it likes that there are three in Great Britian. I lived in the central belt for many many years and have witnessed first hand the sectarianism that is rife in that region. I've stood with the home support at Brockville v Rangers and been called a fenian b**tard by an eight year old from the other side of the 'cage'. I've been there and been called an orange b**tard when its been Celtic fans on the other side. I've had someone try and drive me off the road because I was riding a green motorbike that had powder-coated white wheels. I've even been abused because the colours of my team are similar to those of the union jack. Sectarianism has not flared up because Lennon has come here. Its just being made more public because the world is watching more closely. For all his faults, and I dont like the guy, and no matter what he has done or who he has offended, he does not deserve the threats, bombs or abuse of his family that he is being subjected to.
