Investment Needed NOW
When were our shares repriced to ?2.50 a pop Alex? The last I heard Sutherland had them at 60p but that was many many years ago. From memory, face vaue is ?1. Good idea tho and why not be able to buy them over 10 months at a tenner a month? Made a mistake. Should have said purchase 250 shares at ?1 each.

Investment Needed NOW
What we need right now is 3000 fans to purchase 100 shares each. That would give the club an immediate 750k.

Two topics very similar so I choose to merge them. Two players that were brilliant in their own right but who dont get the same recognition as some others were Keogh and Hislop. How many times did that pair save us?

Defender on trial
I think this may be quite simple. Only ourselves and Ross County have a DoF. At every other club the manager deals with all player situations. Having said that, Ross County seem to follow the right road - so maybe, just maybe, it's just the way we do it - or don't do it. :cry01: :tonguecheek: Unless we can get fresh investment into the club, seriously review each and EVERY board member and quickly get our fingers out, we will be sitting in the SECOND Division! Point 1. Many clubs have DoF. Bear in mind we dont actually have managers. We have Head Coaches. Point 2. Ross County have the luxury of some recent investment Point 3. The 'Board' are made up of people deemed to be the best people to run the club. They are not the people with the money to help the club. There is every chance the board are doing the best they can but just don't have the investment to do better. The one thing that is a big factor in financing scottish football is advertising. No longer is there first div coverage so no longer do advertisers want to invest. In England demotion is not such a big deal. TV coverage goes right down to Div 1. Go down from Premiership and get 10 million parachute. Go down from Championship and get a mill. Compare that with our 250k.

Can you tire of watching this ?
Robbo took Pele's team to the SPL. I'm talking about the seasons before that. And I mean no disrespect to Robbo. Though I will say the second half of season 03/04 must have induced many near heart attacks. One week 1st, next 4th. Helicopters. Probably better than bungie jumping.

Tokely's 500th Appearance
The inability of the club's board to communicate with the management, the players, the staff and of course least of all, the supporters is not only unacceptable - it is an obscenity. you forgot to mention shareholders (with the exception of one of them !) I wonder, Scotty, just how many shareholders like you and I there are and whether there are enough to voice opinion. I know we dont hold enough between us all but the voice of the masses might just waken the minds of the few. Add to the '100 share' holders the supporters trust. All of who's members are, technically, shareholders. Maybe its time the supporters of this club put their act together and showed their disappointment at the way this great club is being run. Its happened at many other clubs, indeed thats pretty much where trusts came from, why not ours? What the major shareholders need to realise is that their investment is worth nothing if there is no club. Or is it the case, like the Gretna story, where a few people got together and worked out a plan to gain a bit of glory and now they've realised that, they dont give a damn. Rossco, I remember well the night you swept the boards with awards and the way you hogged the dance floor. I also remember meeting you at Aberdeen station, still in your tracksuit, after being sent off that day. ((The Pit was our home) I know how much you gave for this club and I know how gutted you'd be to leave it. You still have plenty years in you and plenty games to play. I wish for them all to be in the No.2 at ICT. I also know you deserve to be at a higher level than the present ambitions of this club. Mr Chairman, I hope you read this and weep.

Away game travel
Would it not be better if all you guys and girls were to pay a fiver for SC membership then a tenner a trip for a bus. Membership power of SC, provided there were two or three bus loads guaranteed each away day, could dictate times and stops etc.

Can you tire of watching this ?
There were many great days in the time of the vid but the title of this thread got me really thinking. What were the good old days. For me they were fighting our way up through the leagues. The Pele era. A time when goals were scored. Admittedly, we conceded nearly as many. But those 3-2 and 4-3 games were so much more exciting.l As were the cup runs. Inverness were the real giant killers and we done that on a fairly frequent basis. These were the good old days. These were the days when commentators frequently used the word 'entertaining'.

Bulvitis away?
No.............I'd be more inclined to put my money on an SPL team who recently experienced his skills. If Dundee were in our position however I'd bet on Dee4Life acting very quickly to provide the nominal fee.

Bulvitis away?
As the rumour has now been confirmed as true I have merged the two Bulvitis topics.

Bulvitis away?
I understand that, normally, within Europe loan deals are settled by agreement on who funds all or part of a players wages or by gaurantees on player appearances. What I seem to be reading between the lines here is that T Ventspils are asking for his wages to be paid by us + a fee paid to them. That may be an old eastern way of doing things but, personally, I dont think we should be entering into negotiations where we pay fee's to any club to loan a player. To do so would be to set a precedent that goes against the spirit of loan deals. Deals that are usually agreed to for the benifit of the player concerned. What I mean by that is that if a club has a player coming back from a bad spell or a youngster who needs games to enhance their performance, but that club can't afford to fit them in at present, then loan them out for the long term benifit of the player and the club and negotiate with the borrowing team agreements on wages and playing time. That to me is the spirit of loan deals and should not be seen as a way for a club to make financial gain out of an out of favour player. The only other loan deals should be the short term emergencies where one club helps out another.

Tokely's 500th Appearance
I did ask someone at the club to put a word in Tel's ear about that. The response was negative. Not sure but I think the numbers in SFL reflect position and I think we need Ross at the back.

Imrie
Im not trying to use the OF as an excuse just for comparison in terms of rivalry(not the religious side of it) im sure Dundee/Dundee United are the same, the manchester lot, the edinburgh two and the countless london rivalries that there are. No matey, none of them would abuse a player who crossed over from a local rival. They'd all support those paid for by their own club regardless of where they came from.

Dunfermline Thrown Out Of Cup
The SFA publish a disciplinary list every thursday. This is put on their website and, as I understand it, faxed to every club concerned. This weeks list HERE
-
Dunfermline Thrown Out Of Cup
I could see the point that a mistake had been made if Woods had come to DA from another club carrying the ban. As it is Dunfermline have known for a year that he was ineligible and should have been more careful.

Duff Gone
Surely going into the market when the window opens is more of a rushed signing than waiting to weigh up all the options. Butcher did make comment in the P&J article

Well done Liam and Kyle. Did Foxy ever get a U-21 call up?

Robson Moving On
When we sold the player we done a deal with DU whereby if they sold him on we'd be due a cut. We got our cut. Outwith that the only time a further cut could be claimed is if the player was under 24 and had come through our system. The so-called development fee.

Scottish Cup and The Great Freeze
Where do we draw the line on this though? If the football is called off then maybe they go walking somewhere and the kiddie falls through some thin ice. A child could trip and fall when there was no ice around with the same tragic result. I just think society has moved too far in pandering to H&S issues. You can never eliminate risk so lets try and educate people about hazardous situations so that people can take appropriate actions to minimise risk and let people decide what is reasonable for them. There has to be something wrong in society when you buy a cup of coffee and there is a warning that the container may contain hot liquid. If the attitudes of today had been around in 1990 then there would be nobody reminiscing about the Airdree match today. Yes maybe but he wont have three thousand (in our case) people trampling over him.

Duff Gone
Before slating the player get the facts straight. He was with us on a one month emergency loan. He was quite willing to stay if a deal could have been struck, and if Aberdeen had been knocked out of the cup that may have happened. As it is McGhee wants him back at Aberdeen.

Scottish Cup and The Great Freeze
Everyone is making comment about whether or not its right to cancel on safety grounds. Here's a little scenario. One that the police assess as risk. A few thousand people, mostly adults, are leaving a stadium at once. Out onto slippery roads. Heads down against the weather. A child slips and falls. People who see this try to stop but those behind haven't seen and keep coming. Before you know it there's a number of people on the ground and on top of the child. The child doesn't survive. If that were your child would you make the same comments.

Motherwell game OFF 12thJan
The SFA allocate the dates. The clubs come to agreement on which day to play. They dont have a great deal of choice really.
