I had a friend who went to Aberdeen Uni in the 80s and had a girl in his class from Peterborough. Her mother had packed a whole case with toilet rolls, and was concerned that there might be no pavements... Your point caller? I think the caller's point is to illustrate (rather well) the kind of perception that people outwith the Highlands and the North have of "up here". I have certainly found it commonplace for Central Belters to have the delusion that people in, for instance, Aberdeen, Inverness and Thurso live in adjoining villages up in what they think of as "The North" (which sort of starts when they get to Castlecary Arches). I suspect there are also some who think we also hack the heather out of each other's ears with Claymores, occasionally foray into the South to steal cattle before returning home for the monthly Brigadoon reinactment. (Now could you imagine us up here harbouring equivalently silly ideas about people in the South dressing up in white shell suits and burberry baseball caps and swigging Buckfast whilst spray painting bus shelters on their way to collect their Giros? ) Anyway, what I was getting round to saying was that a lot of central belt players will initially have a completely inaccurate perception of what it's like up here. Those who are brave enough to give it a try will find it completely different from and a lot better than what they expected but at the same time we can't get away from the fact that it's still a long way away frrom families etc for many of them to stay longer than a contract or two. Ahhh, I see. Yes he did make a good point didn't he :003:

Worth bearing in mind that a large proportion of the Aberdeen side of the eighties that Alex Ferguson created came from the central belt... What attractions were there in Aberdeen for them..? None... If you read Gordon Strachan's autobiography... I have difficulty in understanding why so many born and bred Invernesians seem to be **** bent on putting this area down at every opportunity... :024: In the 70's and 80's Aberdeen boomed like no City in Scotland ever has.

Juanjos Back....................
You'd think wouldn't you? Like I say, after recent episodes at ICT a "fans favourite" returning might be hoped to garner some kind of good publicity for the club - from the point of view of ICT fans anyway. As I have said in this thread it reminds me of the "glorious" return of Keegan at Newcastle. I don't seen anything wrong with it. I seriously doubt he will walk back into the first team, merely a few camio appearances to give everyone at the club a well-deserved boost. The next team he went to after us was Grenada FC, possibly a bigger club then ourselves, in a league where the technical ability is far superior to our own, even if it is not as physically demanding. One thing guaranteed with Juanjo is that he will aways go short with his pass, something that only one other player in our team seems willing to do. He also arrives at a time when not a single player in our team can take a decent penalty, freekick or corner.

IAN BLACK ?
The P&J really doesn't do us any favours. Neither Hibs nor Aberdeen have never stated a genuine interest in Black, but they will certainly sit up and take notice now.
-
IAN BLACK ?
That's certainly what we're all suppose to believe :023: Do tell.

Effort, goals, enterainment
Why, are they being relegated? I like your style
-
IAN BLACK ?
You know that Rankin leaving wasn't the only thing to have happened since that good run that might be responsbile for our current shocking line of results? Donld Park was the glue that held this club togethor.

IAN BLACK ?
:017: Are you on something?... He's one of our most creative players! Yes he is of our creative players, but what CaleyJaggy said is that Black has been poor in recent weeks. Which is true

The Mcguire,Hastings and Imrie GTF thread
The friendly in the pre-season, hence the fact that that his game the picture was taken from. And if you think Mcguire's rubbish, this guy was just as bad. So why are you banging on about him then. :017:

ICT -V- Aberdeen : Matchday Thread
I understand that at the end of the game, Foster (already on a yellow card) booted the ball away (ala Russel Duncan). The ref turned a blind eye, just as he turned a blind eye to Nicholson who celebrated in the same way as Duncan earlier on. That along with the fact that Aberdeen scored in the 95th minute, when only 4 was added on (havnt been able to check that, but thats what I was told) lead to Granty and a number of other caley fans surrounding the ref after the game. Im not sure if they all received yellow cards or just Grant, but it ended in his dismissal either way.

ICT v The Dons - Saturday 29 March
Every time weve played the Dons this season, we have been on a good run of form, and they have been playing *****. The pre-match threads are filled with posts like "the time is now" and "this is the best time to play them." But we always, without fail, come away with nothing. This time we are playing *****, they just put Celtic out of the cup. This game means naff all to us. There top 6 aspirations could come down to this. That is why, I am certain we're gonna cuff em. :dancing03: :dancing03: :dancing03: :dancing03:
