Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L W W L D

Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter. Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.
I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.-

Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.-

Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report

Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.-

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!-

A good game tonight with a great crowd especially the young ones in the North Stand If only we had another couple of games like that we would be safe and sound but over the season our home games have been crap and that's why we have ended up in the play offs

If only we'd shown tonight's second half performance in one, just one, other home game this season and turned 0 points into 3, we'd be sitting in 5th place now! It's been a fiasco at home!

The opposite is true. The best seasons in our history occurred when Muirfield Mills were active and putting money in, from 2012 to 2019. We’ve been declining ever since.

Play Off Despair Ahead of kick off it was out of our hands with Queens Park holding all the aces. To escape the play offs, we had to better what Queens Park did against Airdrie. First and foremost we had to ensure we did not lose and hope that the Spiders dropped points at Hampden versus the Diamonds on the last night of the regular season. Both sides were missing some important players for this game with Morton undefeated in their last five visits to the Caledonian Stadium. It was a lovely evening for a game of football, what could possibly go wrong? Well, what did go wrong was Queen's Park beat an understrength Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden, therefore despite beating Morton 3-1, Inverness head for the play-offs. Morgan Boyes opened the scoring with a thumping volley after half an hour. Kirk Broadfoot benefited from slack defending to level before the break then proceeded to earn the wrath of the home support with an embarrassing celebration in front of the North Stand. Cammy Harper relieved Billy Mckay of penalty kick duties and duly slotted home from the spot ten minutes after the break. The scoring was completed just after the hour when Sean McAllister drilled home into the bottom corner. Robbie Muirhead had been sent off for simulation then taking a wee fit to himself and was promptly sent off after 58 minutes just after Harper had knocked in his penalty kick, probably aggrieved that he never earned a spot kick for his dramatic dive. When news of Queen's Park going two up filtered through to the North Stand and the familiar tactic of sideways passing reared it's ugly head, the home fans turned their frustration to the main culprit, and chants of Gardiner Gardiner GTF rang round the home end. So, it's off to meet the Gable Endies for us on Tuesday 7th May with the return at the Caledonian Stadium on Saturday 11th May. Full Time 3-1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alex Samuel was injured after 69 minutes and that will be a blow should he miss out in the play-offs. Hopefully just a precaution. This season? It went wrong when we started with Dodds in charge and never looked like improving much when we chose to chase the headlines with his 'big name' replacement. Before that the clubs decline on and off the park seems to coincide with Muirfield Mills appearing on the scene.

Quite a comfortable win tonight although the first half was poor. I thought Morton were a disgrace with some of their tackles and mouthing off, not to mention Broadfoot’s provocative goal celebration. Thankfully the ref cottoned on in the second half and belatedly started dishing out cards. It made me glad we didn’t appoint Imrie as I’d hate to see us playing like that. Credit to Harper for keeping cool at the penalty and the strikes by Boyes and McAllister both looked good. I think we’ve all been resigned to this for some time, and we are actually going into the play offs in decent form, with 10 points out of the last 15. Four big games ahead to save our season, and maybe also save our club. I just hope Ferguson has seen enough of MacGregor in his short game time to start him on Tuesday. For me, the problem stemmed from all late goals we conceded earlier in the season. At one point, we’d shipped 12 points (if my memory serves me right) to goals in the 80th minute or later, largely as our tactic was to try to defend what we had (very unsuccessfully!).

Never recruited a striker to challenge Mckay, found a system that worked with Wotherspoon and when he left just decided a park the bus system was the way to go instead finding a Wotherspoon replacement, no plan B

It is in our own hands. Unfortunately any time we've had it in our own hands we've blown it. I've no faith we can stay up. Hope I'm very wrong.

Focus off the field, making and saving money, over reliance on some bargain basement loanees, injuries to all the better loanees, jettisoning the more reliable but higher earning stalwarts, no continuity and no forward apart from one and let's add an abysmal start to the season. Hopefully Samuel is not going to be a miss as there does appear to be more stability and promised recently.

Yes I was just looking back through the Championship tables. In the 29 seasons since it became a 10 team league, there is never a season when our record would have left us as low as 9th. (The only other time 9th had more than. 40 points was Airdrie as you say, but they had GD of -14)

Sometimes it's nice to be proved wrong. Unfortunately on this occasion, the outcome is the same as if we'd lost. Playoffs it is then - it's all in our own hands!

Finished on the highest amount of points as well. Airdrie matched the 42 points in 07/08 who went down in the playoffs.

Wasn't Airdrie that frcked us. We did a pretty good job of that ourselves over the season.

Yes, and we have the 4th best goal difference and 2nd best defensive record in the league. Sadly none of this counts!

Thought the second half was really good, and we go into Tuesday's game with some confidence, not ideal but we've left our best bit of form until the end of the season with too much to do

Most of us called it right, ICT do their bit but unfortunately for us our rivals were up against a team who had nothing to play for except to avoid getting injured, suspended or tired.

After all that’s said and done we were just one win away from 5th !

Oh well - play offs it is but lets not forget how Airdrie frcked us.

Got it on a very pixelated stream so couldn't see what happened but the team was raging about it

Yet again absolute joke of a linesman and referee have cost us. Referee and standside linseman are simply not up to standard. Will we ever get a decision as it also looked like we could have had a penalty at the end of the first half yet inexplicably the ref gives a foul to Morton.

Looking at stats in the other game, don't think Airdrie has shown up to play tonight
