hello, walsall fan in peace, i was reading ssn transfer centre and you are close to signing Claude Gnakpa.

Reading your rumour mill, your manager wants a player who can play in defence midfield and striker, Claude can definitely do all 3, he is preferable on the wing but has played at right back in his career and many walsall fans have wanted him to start upfront, he is good in the air and has pace when he wants to use it.

The negative side to him is that he drifts from games and can get very frustrating watching him.

But with the right service he can be a quality player

you just described tade 2 tades wouldnt be a bad thing if one miss fires then theres always the other

g-nack-pa

So you do pronounce the g? I wondered...

Incidentally, can anyone tell me definitively whether the g in 'Gnasher' was/is pronounced? When I was a kid, the Beano readers at school could never reach a consensus.

His wikipedia entry is good

The "Flying Frenchman" was quickly made a regular at London Road and with his notoriously strong tackle and terrifying pace he cemented his place in the team

i pronounced the g, but others called him

nack-pa

nappa

g-nappa

but i'm sure it's g-nack-pa

You pronounce the G in Gnasher....I know because he told me.

Seems strange that Walsall would be letting him go half way through his contract considering he's made 26 appearances for them so far this season. With another frenchman added to the squad we'll be playing La Marseillaise before every game next.

Gnasher is pronounced nasher, shurely?

I always presumed it's a silent G.

And don't call him Shirley!

Looks like a quality player from this video, 2 good feet, good in the air and can certainly score goals.

Note that the commentator at the start calls him Nakpa.

And is that Steve Williams that he beats to score the last goal in the video?

I always pronounced it NGasher.

silent G.My dad worked for DC Thompson for some time, in commando comics, so he knows.

Which Commando Comic did Gnasher appear in? I don't remember reading that one

Hope we get him. Seen him play on Sky a few times, always thought he looked decent.

Being let go by a 3rd teir team in England...sounds great! If he isnt't good for a team flirting with dropping into the 4th teir in England then no thanks!

The one where the Commandos dress up as comic characters and ditch their traditional camouflage!

D'oh! Never mind a silent 'g' in Gnasher, more of a non-existent 'p' in DC Thomson. What did your dad do?
