ICT on YOUTUBE

The club "soft launched" their new Official YouTube Channel this week and it can be found at - http://www.youtube.com/officialict

This is part of an SPL wide partnership with YouTube which comes in to play for the new season and as a minimum it will bring videos from pre match interviews, match highlights and post match interviews.

Work and discussions are ongoing in regards to what additional content it will bring, but it's hoped that they'll be able to get some behind the scenes videos going (training etc), as well as using it as a platform to promote other services and facilities available at the stadium.

This has come about rather quickly and it will take a little time to find our feet with it. The approach being taken is one of "walk before you run" and, quite rightly, the club don't want to over commit and create an unsustainable expectation. It may take a few days to get videos up to begin with, but it's something that will be worked on as people get more used to it and more resources are available to support it.

What's equally important to highlight is that this service and the shooting of the videos is entirely fan driven...and at the moment that consists of AndyCam being the man who's behind the camera on everything (and doing the editing)...which you will understand is a lot to ask of one person. That will change as more resources become available (more people get involved) and when that happens then all your ideas and suggestions will be most welcome....and we already have a ton of ideas which include fan videos/interviews, giving you the chance to help and feature in this new project.

No, blocked by CaleyD who is in hyper management mode. Absolutely feckin ridiculous, like the SPL would care if 3 minutes of Hearts v ICT was on YouTube. Only really posted it so Conor could share it with his family and friends back home. Aaargh. Carry on like this Don and you'll have no one left to "manage".

You need to get your facts straight before you go accusing anyone of anything.

I blocked nothing, but if you want to get down off your high horse for just a moment I'll explain to you what likely happened.

The moment the SPL upload the match footage to the central channel and claim rights to it (whether they put that footage live or not), then any/all other videos on YouTube which match that, or part of that, are automatically flagged as being copyright infringement. There's a few options open to the original owner of the footage (The SPL...not me, not ICT). As the media agreements prevent the showing of highlights online in the UK before 6:00pm on Sunday (for Saturday 3pm games), then the only one of those options which would have kicked in is to block it in the UK....hence the "not available in your country" message.

If you had engaged your brain for just a second, and taken into consideration the information I provided to you via PM the other week in regards the clubs position on videos which breach copyright then you might have realised their was more at play here and it wasn't anyone being over zealous in the management of the situation.

At the very least you could have asked the question before spouting off.

OK, I'll upload the same footage to a different channel without putting the link here. If it gets blocked within an hour I'll believe you.

I'm many a thing....but a liar is not one of them and, quite frankly, I don't care if you believe me or not.

Just seen the post match interviews with Conor Pepper and Billy Mackay. Good stuff being produced for YouTube by our media team. Special mention to Davie for the good interviews this week and last. Very professional.

Not to sure on your pronunciation of absolutely though davie.

Good work though. Enjoying the YouTube channel. Certainly makes fans feel closer to the club.

Noted Luke. I'll try not to say it next week!

He thinks he's Sean Connery.

Having just watched the post match interviews I think the Youtube channel is a great idea because it gives fans a better thance to get to know the players. Particularly as we have had a high player turnover.

So you'rr the man, Davie?

Great job I say. Really enjoying your technique--you get these lads to talk...eh?

Absolutely is my favorite word too...... sums everything up in a flash.

is any of the youth matches going up?

No immediate plans, but hopefully something we will look to include in future.
