Thank goodness they did not use that terrible, pitiful, embarrassing dirge  O' Flower of Scotland as an Anthem for the Opening Ceremony. A totally cringeworthy song if ever there was one.

 

Every time I here that song being sung it reminds me of piles of drunks spilling out of the pubs in Scotland in the 1970's, singing the song through the piles of vomit spewing from their mouths.

 

The song should be banned. Who says it is our National Anthem anyway? From memory it got sung once at a Rugby International in the 70's and was used from there on.

 

No decent Scot with good taste ever had any say in the matter.

Aussies have most medals but England ahead on goal difference. Be afraid England in case it goes to penalties.

Scotland is  doing better than Canada. Population of Scotland is what?---5-6 million now?

 

The population of  Canada is about 35 million!.

And since writing the above its now 40 medals and 16 gold for England against 22 medals and 9 gold for Scotland.

I'm assuming total number of medals counts for nothing, just number of gold first, then number of silver, then bronze.

30 medals for Scotland, brilliant performance after only 3 days. Aussies now stretching away

After a gold in the bowls we have now surpassed our all time record for gold medals. We are also only two medals of our all time record haul of all medals. We have a very good chance of adding quite a few more before the end of the games.

I wonder if Mr Bannerman has anything to say about this latest success for our "athletes"!

And the sport it says I am least cut out for is the only sport I actually participate in.         

It is interesting, but not surprising, that if you show yourself to be hopeless in every respect, it recommends lawn bowls.

Fair enough on the first one, but I have proven to be pretty not bad at the old clay pigeon shooting and have bowled at a decent level.

 

My conclusion.....thank feck the BBC aren't doing the talent scouting for Team Scotland.

Another gold in girls visually impared 100m run takes our total to equal previous record medal haul. The last haul of 33 medals was in Edinburgh in 86. Back then the games were boycotted by the African nations.

Badmington, Judo and Wrestling for me. I did play a bit of badmington in my young years  but I couldnt fight a fly

Netball came top for me!!! That's worrying!

Stop moaning and put your leotard on, a career in rhythmic gymnastics awaits!

It recommended Rugby, Hockey and Netball....thankfully no mention of gymnastics
