Caledonian Stadium no more...

Featured Replies

Not a big proponent of naming stadiums, but on the bright side .... its not the "Tony Macaroni" stadium or Arena, it has PSG in the name which some people might confuse us with a small team from Paris (while playing in a Barca strip), and of course, whilst the other reasons are a bit whimsical, most importantly ... it brings money into the club to try and balance the books. The same books which - even when we were running efficiently - still had a significant yearly shortfall especially if we had no cup run that year.

Could have kept it as Sarens PSG Caledonian Stadium...at least then there's continuity and maintained identity.

That was my first thought, but then I realised it would be 13 syllables (probably some sort of unwanted record!)

It basically shows that Alan Savage is highly respected in the business world and this deal has to be seen as extremely important. Under the previous stewardship 'SarensP' would have seen 'SG Stadium' emerge for games in League 2 or maybe just the Highland League.

The PSG element can only be good for the Club. 'Stade de SarensPSG' has a nice ring about it.

For me it will always be the Caledonian Stadium, Caley Park the same as the Caley Hotel where I went dancing in my younger days wink good to get the sponsorship though.

Do Weldex not do advertising anymore...?
