ICTFC TV

Why don’t we have an ICT TV channel like other clubs?

I’ve watched a few games this season on other clubs channels and the standard has been really impressive. Most recently at Alloa the quality of the footage, camera angles and commentary were superb. Even compared to our highlights package it was night and day.

I was at the Partick match but noticed their stream was £10 while a match ticket was £12, which feels about right and accessible.

Alloa’s setup was £25 for a month, which obviously only covers one game for me, but it still felt worthwhile.

What are the actual barriers stopping us from having an ICT TV channel like other clubs in our league?

Given how well other clubs are doing it, and how good the fan engagement side seems to be, it feels like something that could work. Especially for away fans and those who can’t always travel.

It’s Baltic in Inverness today with strong winds for the rest of Tuesday.

Sorry to say there is no way I am sitting in the wide open main stand tonight. Would have thought about it if the north stand was open.

If we did have ict tv I would happily pay to watch tonight’s game, what ever the cost, from the comfort of my home with a beer or 2.

At least the club would be getting some revenue from me.

I'd certainly subscribe if it were available. I'm not sure I'd pay the £25 sub to another club for the benefit of one game - to me £5 - £10 seems about right for a single match stream.

I have no idea what the costs are for cameras/operators, commentators, streaming/hosting. I guess fresh out of admin unless it really is definitely an overall profitable income stream for the club it isn't high on the agenda.

My seat is in the top tier in the main stand and find it reasonably sheltered from the wind and always sheltered from the rain.

An issue with streaming is that clubs can’t stream games that kick off at 1500 on Saturdays to anyone in the UK.

However, this was a question asked at the Fans Meeting earlier in the season, with the club advising they were exploring options and the legalities surrounding it.

The full meeting summary is here:

I assume that we have no way of live streaming games any more - not even the rightly-maligned Pixellot system?

So the (re-)installation and running costs would have to be balanced against the amount of revenue brought in, and at the moment it could well be an expense too far. A couple of hundred people paying £15 for a match would bring in £3K. I suspect you'd need quite a lot of those to recover the initial costs and cover the on-going costs of a fast pipe and a third-party streaming service.

Still, if the likes of East Fife can do it.... clearly on a budget, just one camera, but I thought it was fine. Any film or TV production companies in Inverness who might play a part in doing it and/or sponsor it?

Here in Eng-er-land, the Premier League and the EFL are supposed to having talks about ending the Saturday afternoon blackout. Though that wouldn't happen any time soon.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/dec/25/premier-league-efl-talks-saturday-3pm-blackout-football-tv-rights

No sign of it happening in Scotland? The article actually notes that if the blackout was lifted in England, then there could be demands for compensation from clubs in the other three home nations.

I was lucky enough to be involved with the media team pre-covid when we did the audio commentary for games; during Covid Andy, who ran the operation, did a test run of broadcasting a game against Dundee on a live stream which was successful (I was doing commentary for the test and I even got to look at replays on a monitor to my left!). But of course Scot Gardiner knew better and insisted on Pixellot and his own commentator. I haven't spoken to Andy for a long while but I think he took a step away from things some time back? If the club got him back involved and just let him do his thing he'd put together a package as good as any other club at this level is putting out.

What I meant was have there been any noises of Scottish clubs looking to lift the Saturday ban on their own games? I presume not.

Unless Robert is as thin as a racing snake I don’t think we would fit.

Now as he is always a gentleman in his responses to posters on here he could offer to swap his seat for one in the middle . We have 1hr 30 mins to make he deal.

Ps….. I too had a seat in the very top row of the main stand. Got soaked one day as the weather approached from down the glen. Then a little further down got fed up holding a hand across my eyes when the sun is low in winter, hence emigrated to the roasty toasty north stand.

East wind the night, safe in the main stand from the not very baltic weather

Maybe slightly off topic but is there any local radio coverage that those of us further afield might be able to tap into online?

I'd settle for a regular "radio" feed if TV isn't possible.

It’s Baltic for me, due to medication.

Get wrapped up anyway, even in the safe main stand as temp will be 3 plus a bit of wind chill added in for good measure.

I was just coming to write this, at the very minimum we should be having audio.

Who could forget the baldy linesman who looked more like the ball to the pixellot camera than the ball itself, resulting in much of the action being missed as the camera focussed on said linesman? 😂

Eventually though, the coverage became quite good and I subscribed to pretty much all the home games. Once covid had subsided and we conquered our fears of crowds, normality returned and regrettably, the streaming service was removed.

There's a fine line between significantly decreasing matchday attendances and generating income from streaming - I'd think that an awful lot of supporters who normally satisfy themselves with watching the score updates on the BBC or whatever, would happily pay a tenner or so (or even a season subscription) to watch the game live streamed. Likewise supporters who live far from Inverness, or even those who don't fancy sitting in a cold stand for 2 hours on a winter afternoon or evening.

If it was available, I'd certainly be up for it. Get Andy back!

Not sure if we’re talking at cross purposes. Plenty noises from the fans but we can’t lift the ban unilaterally afaik as the EPL and EFL would have to sanction it.

Sorry, just saw this.

It was Baltic outside the ground but not inside it tonight. I even took my gloves off so I could clap properly.

Not as cold as I have been in the main stand and I was down near the dugout but bloody freezing walking back to the car! A wee dram to warm up at home though smile

Thanks guys I thought It was just me being cold in “ the not very Baltic weather”

Googled my ailment and got the answer………yes, ** makes you feel coldbecause it regulates your metabolism and body's heat production; when they are low, your body burns fewer calories, slows down heat generation, and struggles to maintain warmth, leading to cold intolerance. This can make you feel chilly even in warm environments.

That’s why it is sometimes Baltic for me in the summer. 😃

You know this went viral? First of all on the net - search for something like "AI bald football linesman" - but then in the real, serious AI community. It has been viewed and discussed at AI conferences!

My son watches a pretty popular YouTuber called "Chuffster" and most of what he posts is football related. Got quite a shock when the Caledonian Stadium showed up a couple of times in his videos. First for this pixellot farce and then there was the Aaron Doran corner kick goal that wasnt ... although in the Chuffster video it is noted as a goal, but the proper footage online shows it was disallowed.
