E Fife @ home Feb2026

And Breathe

After the hectic January schedule we can now ease back on the throttle a tad and take a slightly more leisurely approach to February kicking off with a home fixture against East Fife on Saturday, a team we fitted in to our January schedule just a couple of weeks ago with a 0-2 win at Baltic Bayview. We saw out our January League1 duties with another win over Alloa followed by a hard earned draw away to Queen of the South. What all that means is that we still top the table, level on points with Stenhousemuir, and we still have a game in hand over them. It's very tight at the top with Queens on form and pushing hard and Alloa looking likely to be the fourth team to stay in the play off places come the end of the season. However, it's still all to play for with around forty points up for grabs.

Rumours abound that Ben Brannan is coming back to us on loan from Killie for the rest of the season. Happy days!

This one ended 2-2 with a deflected Sole effort putting us ahead before a Kennedy cross nestled into the back of the net. A superb header from Alonge put us back in front before a late Hewitt strike levelled an intriguing contest. The point was enough for the us to retain top spot with the top four all drawing.

  • Last Six League1:

  • L L D W W D

During our jam-packed January, we lost the first two in our last six League1 games, going down 1-0 at Ochilview followed by defeat at Montrose (2-1). We slowed the rot at Cove (0-0) before we lifted the spirits with wins at East Fife (0-2) & Alloa (3-1). The final game was that draw at Palmerston in a quality encounter.

Last time at Bayview 2 - 0: On the Road Again
Another away game as we play catch-up at Bayview. The first half passed everyone by as nothing happened. A much better second forty-five saw Inverness build a head of steam before substitute Alfie Stewart lashed home a swerving shot from outside the box. Alfie Bavidge raced clear in time added on to seal the deal and put the Caley Jags back to winning ways and back on top of the table. Good win in difficult conditions.... but that first half needs wiped from the memory.

Two or three struggling according to Kells?

Alas, it's not been a great run since they beat Elgin City in the KDM Trophy win at Elgin City, winning 2-3 before bowing out to Championship side Arbroath with a 3-0 defeat. The same side that ended their Scottish cup campaign. However, let's not dwell on Scottish Cup results this season frustrated01

  • Last Six League1:

  • L L L L L L

It's quite straightforward to be honest. Six League1 defeats on the trot! It started with two 0-1 defeats at home to Peterhead & Kelty Hearts. Thrashed @ Stenhousemuir (5-0), v Inverness (0-2), @ QotS (5-1) and the last one at home to Montrose 2-3.

In the January sales, East Fife took on some fresh legs and moved a couple on.

  • Destiny Oladipo: Forward 6 month deal.

  • David Wilson: Defender 6 month deal.

  • Dennis Halliday: Forward 6 month deal.

  • Omar Elharek: Midfielder joined Jan22nd.

  • Robert Jones has left the club after 52 appearances and 5 goals.

  • Gregor Nicol has joined Bonnyrigg Rose on loan until the end of the season.

  • Tommy Goss returned to Annan after loan ended.

Was Dick happy after the QotS thrashing...Erm No! Alan Trouten red carded in that one redcard

Two match ban for the experienced striker and he will miss the game against Inverness.

Only three League1 fixtures this weekend with Stenhousemuir & Kelty in Scottish Cup derbies. against Falkirk & Dunfermline Athletic. Also, we will find out who we play in the KDM Semi-Final with St Johnstone playing Ayr United on Saturday.

Robertson or MacIntyre most likely, we have a good squad this year.

Yeah looks like it would be Robertson at CB with MacIntyre going back to LB.

What’s refreshing this season is our home league form. We’ve won 9 and drawn 1 of 11 games, taking 28 points out of 33.

It’s a long time since we’ve been able to think of “fortress Inverness” but this season we can.

In our last four home league games, we’ve scored 14 and just conceded 1.

Long may it continue.

After a first half of missed scoring opportunities it was in the end a comfortable and deserved victory over an average opponent in EF. Whilst AlfieS was MoTM (deserved IMO) and Paul Allan’s goal was the pick for me, I feel a word is merited for Remi’s performance and all round contribution yesterday.

It was a great tussle he had with the big lad Oladipo (No 25) and came out the winner more times than not. Oladipo was good at holding up the ball, had good feet for someone his size, and if better served could have tested our defence more.

Remi can easily play at a much higher level. A good test for him would be the Championship. Thou the attraction of playing back in England may be appealing I hope he says around for next season. I suspect some admirers are already thinking about what package would be required to attract his attention. I know every player is ‘for sale at the right price’ however Remi (for me) is a player that we need to retain if possible .

Scottish football has been enriched by the Campbells. Really looking forward to the final game against them this season if only to hear Dick's post game analysis. The complete opposite to Derek Adams.

That said, what a contrast it is to be an ICT supporter this season. Another great win yesterday.

I thought we were really good yesterday and could easily have doubled our goal tally. Solid at the back and with good interplay in midfield to set up a lot of chances. After scoring early it looked certain we would get a 2nd before long, but chances went a begging and slowly East Fife began to believe that they might get something out of the game. Then Allan came on and we immediately looked more threatening again and it was he who gave us breathing space with a curling shot which left the East Fife keeper rooted to the spot. Zimba will be disappointed not to have been on the score sheet but he provided 2 assists. His 2nd was a delightfully weighted little flick on back to Allan to set him up for the shot.

It was good to see a good number of shots being taken rather than trying to walk it into the net. A good few flew a little wide or high but it looked to me that players have been told to shoot to get it just inside the post rather than simply "on target".

What was disappointing was that the crowd was down on our last home game against Alloa. If people missed the game so that they could watch on TV a game played by men with funny shaped balls, then you definitely made the wrong choice.

Watched the game and thought it was quite dull..bit like a chess match. Stenny keeper made some great saves but. yes, it took Falkirk until extra time to break down the part timers. Nicky Jamieson was a rock at the back...until the goal! Stenny didn't really cause much of a threat up front.

Shhh...don't mention Remi

He's been class ever since he joined us, and I was amazed he stayed with us over the summer, but says much about him that he wanted to [there is a bit of the Marc Guehi about him in playing style and presence]. I hope he has hitched up to a nice Inverness lady who will influence him to stay if we get promotion

I am one of those that watched that debacle (one of a number since last year's 6N 😡) but that's mainly because I am a true fan and won't not watch due to poor form or in the "coach out" camp. I tend to watch as much rugby as I can, especially international but I am going slightly off topic here so won't bore you with reasons why etc.

As well as a return to ICT for a live game (which was close to becoming reality until weather put paid to that 🙄), Murrayfield is on my bucket list 😃. Me and my friend are thinking of Peterhead away in April.

Anyway I'm going to leave it there and hope this doesn't turn off topic 😛.

I think that’s being charitable to Stenny 😂

Just like the two league games against us (can’t comment on the KDM game) there was only one team trying to win. Gary Naysmith has done a great job with limited resources (as you would expect from someone who went to my old school 😉 ) but this percentage football would make your eyes bleed.
