We should really be aiming at a 5th place finish....  :018:

Nobody ever remembers who came last.....  :023:

We are only 1 point behind Aberdeen in 5th and we have a game in hand AND a better goal difference  :021:

Point well made.

I suppose I just feel sorry for the lad, every where he goes he is a bit of a scapegoat figure.

I feel sorry for him as well but the simple thing is that he is currently playing at a level that has proved to be consistently beyond him.

Couple that with the fact that he is a right ugly bugger.

Poor lad

Hibs into 6th place if they continue to beat Gr?tna, which they will.

7th place

Only till Saturday night....  :018:

DUFC were total cr@p tonight against St Midden..

lost 1-0

So you don't expect Hibs to beat the Dons then?

Assuming we beat United we will be above either Hibs or Dons....

Or am I missing something.... :024:

No I am, sorry. Assuming they draw which I'd expect we'll actually go 5th should we beat the arabs.  :022:

We needed to take 3 points at St.Mirren to give us a chance of top six, cant see were the points are going to come from  now.

Hibs and Hearts will will be fighting for top six, did,nt see much fight in us after conseeding at St Mirren. Still we can always hope !!

Except that we are only 7th on goal difference, coming up aganist a Utd team that lost at home to the team you claim we should have beat away.

Well, so far this season we've beaten every team in the SPL with the exception of Rangers and Aberdeen....  :018:

If we beat Dundee United we will be back in the top six. Hibs and Aberdeen can't both take tree points.

Falkirk can, and if they win by one more than us they'll go 6th on goals scored.

Hibs beating Aberdeen now. If that's that end result we drop to 7th which I suppose is better than a draw which would see both tems overtake us reducing us to 8th place, Just goes to show how tight it is in the mddle of the table just now.

It seems like forever since ICT have had a result to really give the fans something to shout about.  No doubt this is in part due to our progress and fewer "big" games, even when it comes to cup matches.

ICT have made some really big headlines over the years and it would be fitting if our next one was our first win over Aberdeen and a secured top 6 finish as a result.

We have a habit of putting together wee runs of wins or losses and we should be travelling to Motherwell with nothing less than a win in mind in order to kick start another run of good results.

Drawing games isn't a disaster, but expectations for ICT are lower among other teams and if we can get our nose in front of Aberdeen, Hibs and Falkirk then I feel the pressure will be more on them than it is on us as we approach the split.

We seem to have had a season of nit-picking by fans...not entirely unjustified, but it's time to set that aside and divert our energy into getting behind the team and doing our part to help push them towards the finish line.

We've had our nose in front of Aberdeen for a couple of weeks now. We will win on wednesday.

Kilmarnock's win over Aberdeen today is a bit of a boost to whatever top six ambitions we have remaining.
Aye we've been lucky other teams results have been going in our favour

St Mirren sound like they did well to keep Celtic at bay for the best part of the game, gives us encouragement for Wednesday !! but in typical style Naka scores for them in 87th minute

MON THE CALEY 3 POINTS ON WEDNESDAY PLEASE :021: :021: :021:

Celtic are bound to be tired after their recent schedule of matches. A point might not be beyond us. That said, they will be all out to avenge their defeat in Inverness.

Whatever else, we can't afford to be as slow off the blocks as for our last two matches.

If we look at the fixtures remaining, here are those for the sides vying for the top six:

Falkirk vs Hibernian 27-02-2008

Falkirk vs Motherwell 01-03-2008

Inverness CT vs Falkirk 15-03-2008

Hearts vs Falkirk 22-03-2008

Falkirk vs Kilmarnock 29-03-2008

Aberdeen vs Falkirk 05-04-2008

Celtic vs Inverness CT 27-02-2008

Inverness CT vs Hearts 01-03-2008

Inverness CT vs Falkirk 15-03-2008

Kilmarnock vs Inverness CT 22-03-2008

Inverness CT vs Aberdeen 29-03-2008

Gretna vs Inverness CT 05-04-2008

Hearts vs Rangers 27-02-2008

Inverness CT vs Hearts 01-03-2008

St Mirren vs Hearts 15-03-2008

Hearts vs Falkirk 22-03-2008

Hearts vs Dundee Utd 29-03-2008

Kilmarnock vs Hearts 05-04-2008

Aberdeen vs Motherwell 27-02-2008

Rangers vs Aberdeen 01-03-2008

Aberdeen vs Gretna 15-03-2008

Aberdeen vs St Mirren 22-03-2008

Inverness CT vs Aberdeen 29-03-2008

Aberdeen vs Falkirk 05-04-2008

Who has the advantage?

Home games: Falkirk - 3; ICT - 3; Hearts - 3; Aberdeen - 4.

Form: Falkirk have won only one of their last six; ICT won one of the last six; Aberdeen have lost five of the last six; Hearts have won three, drawn one of the last six.

Difficulty of games: Only Falkirk have no games against the Old Firm; ICT have one game against Celtic then play the rest of the bottom six.

Misc: Hearts are apprently close to losing their best striker to Viking; Aberdeen have the come-down after a Yoofa Cup run and also have signifcantly poor goal difference than the rest.

It's very difficult to tell.  We are a side who play in runs - since we got into the SPL we have relied on taking advantage during our good periods punctuated by runs of games where we don't pick up results.  For example, in 2004 we were still deep in the relegation race in the New Year but went on a run over January, Febryuary and March were we won four and drew two games to pull ourselves clear.  In 2005/06 we went on a horrible run culminating in a dire 3-0 scudding at home to Falkirk - over the next nine league games we were unbeaten picking up results against Hearts, the Old Firm, Hibs and Aberdeen.  Last season, after a poor start we went unbeaten in six (four wins, two draws) to get some points on the borad before going on a horror run of nine games without a win.  this season we had our dreadful start but since have had some good runs, obviously the best being the five straight wins in November and December.

Hopefully we can produce another good run between now and April and secure a top six spot.  On balance, I'd think that Falkirk look best placed in terms of position, Hearts have the best form and Aberdeen probably have the best squad on paper, although their terrible form counts against them.  What we need is twofold: to tighten up and stop losing stupid goals and to have one of our strikers hit some form.  So far this season Wyness and Niculae have had good scroing runs, we need that from one of them again over the next period.
