  1. If they can pull it off...and I'm not holding my breath....it would be a good move. If the usual suspects don't want to join......then they have the option not to join...and can play each other home and away weekly until the telly gets as hacked off with them as we are. As a Celtic supporter (my third preferred team)...I would welcome a week without Neil Lennon's incessant whining.......because he is rapidly putting me off Celtic after fifty plus years of armchair following.

  2. Caley Thistle initiatves have been quite good - names on the away top, brick at the stadium, car boot sales etc. It generates cash for the club AND gives something back to the fans / offers a service. This new appeal from County is as Old Caley Girl stated in her title 'putting out the begging bowl'. It's not offering anything in return. Not to say it's not a bad idea however. If it raises cash then it's a great idea. But if there is nothing in return for the fans that donate, then it literally is begging and can't be compared to offering services such as car boot sales or names on tops

  3. As CD says regionalisation is a positive for teams out with the higher end of the game. Any changes to the top structure would be done on merit based on finishing positions in the league and compliance with the laws of the land. Can't believe I'm going to type this but............................I would trust the SFA to get it right! Appreciate there are many facets of the organisation that need changed but the have a far better track record than the SPL in looking after the game.

  4. You effectively pay a deposit which amounts to the minimum cost. The number of Season Tickets sold is taken as at 1st July. If they reach the lowest discount level then nobody pays any more, if they fall short of that then everyone pays the balance between the deposit and whatever level they reach...so yeah, everyone pays the cheapest price. Those who don't pay the balance are issued with a ticket that covers the first 9 home (league) games. For a team like Livi who will have lost a few fans after all the mess they went through and who are growing that again as they progress and climb back then it's a fairly safe bet and a good way to get those bums back on seats. The problem is that you actually need to be confident of fairly sizeable increases in sales to make it work, so it's not such a clear cut no-brainer for clubs with more established support. e.g. If you have 3000 Season Ticket holders then to give them a £1 discount without losing revenue then you need to sell an additional £3000 worth of tickets...let's say 10 tickets at £300 for simple maths sake. So to discount a tenner then you need 100 extra ST sales. But you also have to factor in additional costs that come with more ST holders, so maybe you actually need to increase sales by 120 to offer £10 discount....and that's just to reach financial par with previous season. The obvious aim of increasing bums on seats is to increase revenue, so maybe you have to start looking at 150 extra sales so it's worthwhile venture to give a £10 discount. That's only about 50p a game saving. You are going to want to be able to offer £50+ discounts to get people interested...so you need 750 additional ticket sales to make it worthwhile for both club and fans....that's 25% increase (based on 3000 base level), fairly ambitious as we already know that discounts generally don't support themselves with the increased numbers. So yeah, in principle a sound idea...in practice, not so straight forward and far from a certainty that it would be a success.

  5. This could be fantastic news if the real governing body has the balls to deliver. Ultimately, the power does belong to the SFA. Everything that is of value in our game such as European places, national trophies and the national stadium belong to them. AS CD says, let's hope this isn't just hot hair from a very well known wind machine!

  6. Sounds very much like what came out from the recent fans surveys done by Supporters Direct which proposes two leagues of 16 (Premier League & Div 1) with a qualifying league of 10 and then regional setup below that. Copies of the plan are attached and make for worthwhile reading as they go in to detail on the reasons why such a setup would benefit the game, together with information and proposals on how finances should be distributed etc. I believe there's a fair bit of support within the Scottish Executive for the plan and short term funding could be available to ease the transition. What is becoming blatantly obvious in all the discussions that have been going on is that everyone agrees that change is needed and some teams are going to have to give up something in the short term to allow that change....but nobody is willing to do that (despite all the lip service they give it). What the SFA seem to be saying is "If you can't make a decision, then we'll make it for you" and as they can technically pull the rug from under both the SPL & SFL by deeming them not fit for purpose then you have to hope that, if need be, they have the cahoonas to follow through and aren't just blowing hot air. 8. Just had a look on Neil lennons twitter and he was getting messages from Celtic fans saying he's a disgrace and a bottle merchant haha But best of all a Celtic fan made the point that hoopers goal was offside so the decision evened itself out in the end. His reply "no it wasn't" I'm now certain that he has lost it

  9. What really disturbs me about Lennon is the aggressive nature of his protestations. Plenty of managers get worked up and animated (including ours), but with Lennon you always get the feeling he's on the verge of physically abusing whoever it is directed at. If anyone else acted like that in any other walk of life then they would quickly find themselves up on charges of breach of the peace and intimidation.

  10. OK, how about ICT offer a scheme whereby the team are "allowed" just 3 garbage home performances a season. For each dismal showing over and above that, there is a £10 rebate to season ticket holders, to be funded from the players and manager's bonus pots, and if that runs out then it's straight off their basic pay. Caley100 would be the garbageness judge, with his verdict being announced over the tannoy at full time and the shamed players having to run over to the exit gates to dish out the tenners in person.

  11. What a complete and utter f***y! I hear that after the cup semi final defeat and latest conspiracy theories against him Neil Lennon has decided to give up football management and become a professional darts player. Apparently he's good at throwing trebles and doubles.

  12. Someone said on Radio 5 live that Lennon had retweeted a comment from a fan that it was time for Celtic to get out of the SPL and away from its corrupt officials. That presumably would be to England and to officials who give Man Utd yet another penalty for Young diving against his former club and Chelsea a goal that none of the Chelsea players even claimed had crossed the line. You're welcome to head South, Neil - but please take your cheating pals in blue with you when you go.
