  1. Cant comment cos I wasn't there but considering he and a few others have never played a competitive match together do you not think maybe its a bit early to judge.

  2. Lets face it - we have got four potentially worthwhile signings. The positives to me are that Butcher has evidently mainly sought out players with a degree of experience- and the level that they have been playing at - sad to say - is not far away from the modern day SPL standard. He also has a trio of players in Draper, Warren and Raven who are "leaders", have captaincy experience and certainly sound as if they have fought for the cause or the shirt at previous clubs. Oswell and Pepper may well be extremely raw but at least Oswell has a history of scoring goals - and again irrespective of the level - he clearly is a budding goalscorer and that is what we have all been shouting for. The squad may not be complete but there is now a fair mix of experience and potential in there and Scots as well. I fer one am glad that we have left the loan signings to last and lest hope that the injury prone last the pace. We may well have to accept that this year is the consolidation period and the aim must to be to keep this lot together for next season. My lingering worry is that Terry and Mo can alter their styles and man manage, influence and nurture this squad. Should have added that Reguero is potentially the shrewdest signing of the lot. For the last couple of seasons we have been so fortunate to have Esson and Tuffey - this season again we are one of a very few clubs who have such a capable back up and/or competition fer the No 1 spot.

  3. Articles such as that look good until you start to drill down into the information. They are also full of a lot of "What Ifs", a lot of which we are a long way from ever realising, even if we were to start bringing about the positive changes needed as from today. IMO, it's the constant "looking elsewhere" and comparing ourselves to others and dreaming of having what they have which causes so many problems. What's needed is for people to sit down and develop a system/set-up which works for us here and now. Looking at the comparison with Belgium....they may get 45 Million Euros a year in TV rights, but that is from a national TV provider who delivers their content via the Internet (cheaper than satellite, cable etc) and who broadcast every league game. That kind of set-up is not an option in Scotland because we do not have a broadband network capable of delivering such a service to enough people to make it viable. You also have to consider the fact that Belgium has twice the population of Scotland...so they're delivering/selling to a larger audience. Using attendances as your driving factor for comparison of TV viewers doesn't work either....because if someone is going to matches then they're not your primary target for selling TV too, which makes those stats practically worthless.

  5. What a rotten afternoon for a game of football and I'd imagine a bit of a rude awakening for some of the new players 1st taste of scottish football. Buckie started better than us and had a couple of goals chalked off for offside, The second of which was a shot from a free kick that beat esson and looked ok from where we were standing. After the goal by Shane we looked reasonably ok without being able to score though Buckie created some chances on the break. Second half after a few changes was in a pretty similar vein and until m laing scored we didn't look too threatening, we had plenty of the ball without creating clear cut chances, with buckie crowding out the box and our final pass in to the box all too often going astray, All in all a pretty typical pre season game and I often wonder why I go to them. Highlights for me, The linesman who chalked the goals offside and was being given the dogs from the Buckie fans. After the second disallowed goal they called him a **** eyed so and so to which he turned and faced them and crossed his eyes back to them , they then called him a fat so and so again he faced them and started rubbing his stomach at them, kinda makes you yearn for the old highland league days.

  7. Well the weather through the likes of Macduff, Banff and Portsoy has been crap... any chance Buckie has sunshine? Reception permitting I'll endeavour to keep everyone update on the team, scores and performance

  9. This is an excellent gesture from the club. I, however, dont intend to claim the discount voucher. I expected to pay the full price anyway and the club need the money more than I do.
