  1. The U20s played Dunfermline today. We won the game 1-0 but the game wasn't as eventful as 2 weeks ago when they played Motherwell and St Johnstone. Nick Ross got on the score sheet again. I thought that Shane Sutherland had a good game in setting up attacks and keeping hold of the ball but still had a few of his off target shots. Chris Hogg played 45 minutes of football today. Not to sure if this was due to Injury or as a pre caution. This change saw Charlie Taylor moving over to centre back and Ryan Watson coming on to left back. Jordan Gibbons played on the wings today. This was the first time I have seen him play in his "Natural" position since joining on Loan. I thought he done well in the attacks and was a nuiscence for Dunfermline's left back. Personally think he was quite suited in the centre mid position or even the Andrew Shinnie role when they played Ross County's U20 last month. Despite the high winds at TCS, it was again a good performance from the youngsters. Next Home Game is on Wednesday 24th vs Celtic at the TCS. Kick off at 2pm.

  2. Beaten by a stronger team that were on a mission yesterday and not too much of a shock, really. Wanyama looked every inch a multi milion pound player and Commons and Hooper weren't far behind. Our midfield were bound to tire eventually after firefighting that lot for most of the game and when they got one goal there really was no way back although getting four flattered them. Doran's goal at the death might prove vital. We suffered after Gary Warren went off - not least because he looked likely to nick something from the corners that we got, as well as mopping up everything at the back. The real fight for Europe could effectively be won next week (County could be all but out of it if they are beaten by the Arabs) on the red & blue away day. Defeat for St Johnstone would render us almost uncatchable with two home fixtures to come. Dundee United are beatable on our patch and we might be up against it with Motherwell, but then those two are followed by County. For the last day of the season to be the first win for them would be unthinkable and you know what - it still wouldn't be enough for them. Come on and join the red and blue party!

  3. To the disgruntled. Do you think that those of ( us ) who have a more optimistic ( to you happy clappers) outlook are supposed to sit back and let you would be pundits with visions of 'knowall ' grandeur put your side of things forward without reply ??? ICT have achieved what they set out to do for this season, any advance on this is bonus. Can you not just accept that ? Many of you were moaning at the start of the season about losing all you favourite players ( sounding like children having their toys confiscated ) then when the new arrivals came you said that we had no hope of getting to the top six, and fearing relegation. All last season we had to put up with your drivel about happy clapping, well now it is our turn, this season has been a success, so if you cannot see that then it is time to take your dark glasses off. Constructive criticism is good I am all for it but slagging off players and management for the sake of thinking you are making yourselves sound good is something else.

  4. I agree Johndo. This happy clapping atmosphere is starting to grate. We have been average at best for a while now, unable to take care of a dour Perth side and I honestly fear for us should we approach next weeks game with the same attitude. Billy Mckay is supposed to be a top scorer.............well he was anonymous today along with a few other shirkers. Happy clapping is all good and well as long as you have something to happy clap about. In case nobody has noticed, we have won feck all yet, albeit a decent season, of course without one of the major players involved because they were too busy losing to Stirling Albion and Peterhead etc. I am getting tired of people telling me that we should be happy about our season regardless. Well I have news for you. I think we are going backwards in the stages of the season where we should be cementing our place in the history books. Are we scared? Maybe, but we need to get ourselves out of this rut before it's too late, starting with a win next week. Disgruntled

  5. Let's not get into this "I go to more away matches than you so I am a more loyal fan then you" nonsense. The reasons why people go to particular matches whether it be home or away are matters for them. Some folk wish to and are able to get to most matches. That's great. Other folk for financial, work, or personal reasons (caring for a disabled loved one, for example) only manage to get to a few games. Going to away matches can involve planning and pulling in favours from others and therefore that will tend to be the glamour ties or special occasions rather than Wednesday evening in Kilmarnock. I accept that there are also plenty of folk who don't have the same level of commitment to the team as others and who could but simply don't want to go week in and week out. Of course, it would be great if they went to more matches but they are unlikely to do so if others make them feel that they are not proper supporters. If we get into Europe it would be great if we got good support for away matches (note the optimistic plural). If folk who rarely manage to get to away matches can sort things out in order to be part of that historic chapter in the club's history, then we should all join together in giving the best possible support for the team. Having a small group of regular supporters questioning the right of others to be there really isn't very helpful. CaleyJags Together and all that.

  6. Good luck to him. He's been a great piece of business for us and unfortunately this is the problem of having successful seasons! I'm not 100% sure he's quite at Championship level but you can't blame him for giving it a shot. Seems a good lad and i'll be keeping an eye on his progress next season. Thanks for all Andy and top it off with a few more goals to fire us into Europe before heading south.

  7. Disappointing result but once again you can't fault any of the players attitudes or efforts. We held out well for 60 minutes and were just beginning to frustrate Celtic when they scored. Warren going off made things difficult as he was simply superb first half and you could see the defence lacked organisation without him as highlighted from the corner that Ambrose was left with a free header from 6 yards. Can't understand the criticism of OTJ at all. I thought he had a very good game against an unbelievable talent in Wanyama. We've always said that if Celtic play at their best, they'll beat us and unfortunately the last 30 mins from Celtic was very good. The movement from Hooper and Commons in particular caused us problems and you can see why they are paid what they are paid. Saying that, credit has to go to Josh Meekings for yet another brilliant game in the centre of defence. His tackle at the end of the first half was perfectly timed and he marshalled the front two of Celtic very well for 60 minutes. He's only 20/21 and has performed at a very high and consisted level all season and for this I think he may very well be my vote for player of the year. One concern I do have is Butchers constant decision to play Draper out wide. He really is wasted out there and I feel that yesterday was a perfect example that it just doesn't work. When soaking up pressure like we were, we desperately needed an out ball and we didn't have one. A.Shinnie would normally give us this but he was having to drop deep yesterday to help out in midfield and Doran didn't have his best afternoon. Draper and Jones I believe is our best partnership in the middle and I really hope they are re-united for Saturday. I notice the amount of people mentioning Butchers tactical change yesterday by taking Shinnie off for Taylor. I have a sneaky suspicion this may be a plan for next season with Doran (if he stays) taking Shinnies role in the hole behind the striker. Just a theory but i'd like to see it given a bit of time as I believe he may be quite effective in that position. I was actually quite impressed by our left side once G.Shinnie was pushed further forward. What did people make of Devine's yellow card? From where I was sitting it seemed like the usual play acting from Samaras who went down in a heap holding his face. Did the TV show any contact? The fixtures may not have been the kindest towards us but I for one am glad to have got Celtic out the way at the start as we now have four winnable games and can hopefully build momentum without having to face a team the calibre of Celtic. Lets just remember where we have come from this season and really get behind the team for one final push towards Europe. Butcher, Malpas and all the players deserve so much praise whether we make Europe or not so let's really just show them how much we appreciate their efforts this season by turning out in numbers for the last four games and really backing the team hopefully into Europe. What a season and it continues...

  8. Thanks for the match report. Live too far away to ever watch the under 20s but always keen to learn how they are doing. Is the up to date league table available anywhere ?

  9. Rangers unfairly treated!? Eh? The club were liquidated and relaunched as a Newco, (under Sevco 5088). The SFA bent the rules to allow them to go straight into Division 3 (even after Spartans had already applied). Sevco are very lucky that they are allowed to compete in the Scottish football set up at all. Have you seen the latest from Sevco HQ btw?!

  10. This isn't debating it is pure and utter whingeing and tedious personalised slagging. I have to agree that there have been many posters who have harboured overly high expectations and have criticised with no rationale. They bug me as much as the righteous who can only see just above average as their goals and are too scared to criticise AND who always look for the negativity in posts rather than taking in the whole picture. We have well exceeded the expectation levels held and aimed for at the start of the season. This season will end up being our best ever and successful. Perhaps that will suffice for some but I will always conclude that we blew a big opportunity to pick up silverware and I am nervy that we could blow the chance of an unbelievable place in Europe. My opinions are mine and probably bring about a reaction because they are thought out and rational in content - probably a happy clappers nightmare. This season is our most successful ever but it could still be an historical, unthought of and almost unbelievable - it could have been classed as sensational. Forgive me and some others for holding higher standards than others and having the temerity of passing opinion on a discussion forum. At least argue against the points and criticisms proffered rather than being a child throwing their rattle out of the pram.

  11. You can't do that to a donkey! For £5 they'd be expecting conjugal rights and that wifie in the black isle that runs the animal sancuary would be after you. It would be better to tie a seat to Derek adam's back and see what we could saddle him with. After all, it worked with Tokely etc.

  12. Outclassed by team who contained a high number of internationals and averaged 4 goals per home game this season. yesterday was their day. It was pitty to see us throw away the hard work we had done in the first half but its hardly going to de rail the rest of the season, no ground lost from Perth FC so next week and the games following that are vital. Time to get behind the lads for the remainder of the season.

  15. Just because they wave union flags, does not make them bigots, if you don't like the flag of this country go and live somewhere else, I would suggest you are the bigot. Today at Parkhead we were entertained by a number of choruses of Paddy McCourt's Fenian army, because we live in a country where people fought and died, under the flag that you consider bigoted, they are entitled to do that. Did I miss your post condemning the waving of the Irish flag and starry plough after the last time Celtic visited Inverness?. ..... Guess you weren't too disappointed in todays result! The SPL hasn't been a breath of fresh air this season, ICT have had a magnificent season, but we all knew that Dundee were up against it and would get relegated and Celtic would win it. I would suggest the only fresh air is between your ears!

  16. Gotta say Shane looks much better as a striker rather than a winger. Might be worth a game or two before end of season.

  18. Well money talks ! A Celtic side, in the second half that, that showed pure class in stages with outstanding goals to boot. How can some of you posters slam the players and manager that has taken us further than we have ever gone before. I know you will say you are just giving positive and fair criticism ! but you are not. You are slagging them off to put forward your own unprofessional opinions trying to prove yourselves as the I know better than they do brigade. We were defeated today by the league champions who have a squad of enormous proportions and capabilities far greater than our own. No shame in that ! Well done ICT you held them well 'till they eventually made the breakthrough. I'm proud of you guys and I hope we do make Europe you deserve to. In my opinion Neil Lennon with all the resources behind him could only feel ashamed if Celtic didn't win the league, He can smile now but shouldn't feel he has achieved greatness, next season could find him biting his nails again. edited to say well done Doran, a consolation maybe but a goal all the same !
