  1. The top-flight, in its current format (12 teams) is now in its 15th season. Possibly enough to use average points as a guide to final finishing places? Not just for us obviously, but for any club. As these are averages, it could a guide to where a club is likely to finish if they maintain their current ratio. Yes, I admit it's a rough guide - and flawed by the split (shown by the best-of-the-rest 7th placed average tally being higher than the average for 6th) but it's an interesting table. Our 38 points from 20 games is a fantastic return of 1.9 points per game. Our best ever ratio of 1.53 would 'ordinarily' be sufficient for 4th place but 'only' secured 5th - and our worst (0.97 points) was worthy of 11th, rather than relegation. If we maintained our current 1.9 ratio - on average, we could expect to finish 3rd (72pts), although the vagaries of the league demonstrate that it could be good enough for runner-up, but also 4th! The shaded blue areas on the graph are what we've already surpassed in this campaign. Just a bit of fun - let's hope I'm not tempting fate!
  2. The one really good thing that I find coming from this is the good work by the commercial and media departments with the coverage this is receiving. I am being contacted from all over the UK and beyond from people that are hearing about this and saying what a great club ICT must be to think of fans at this time of year. Whatever happens crowd wise the idea has been a brilliant one.
  3. Just one more thing we've achieved that County haven't....the list grows longer by the day.
  4. I see that their club shop sells Ross County air fresheners, its good to see them trying to improve things for the local community.
  5. He would have been as well just saying "We're 5hit, and we know we are"
  6. I note that Celtic need to win all their remaining games to equal last year's points tally. Looks as though 3rd and particularly 4th and 5th could all end up with significantly more points than usual although the average points per game for the top 6 obviously drops off after the split. Totals may be high this year because there seem to a lower than average number of draws this season - or am I just imagining it? Interesting that best of the rest in 7th place last season got less points than 11th the year before. It also demonstates how grim County's position is. They are currently averaging just 0.55 per game. In order to get above the worst ever 11th place total they need to average 1.22 for their remaining 18 games and 1.72 to get above the best ever 11th place total. Round about 1.5 would probably see them avoid the play offs but that is the kind of form which as Sneckboy's chart shows, would normally get you about 4th in the league.
  7. Yes the offer is open to St Johnstone fans. Being a tuesday night I'd be surprised if there was a substantial crowd increase. The offer may attract a few extra visitors but I dont think it'll be in the hundreds.
  8. Although obviously they don't have to I would expect some season ticket holders to take part in this? Just an extra way of helping the club in a small way?
  9. Rooney and Hayes.....I remember the days when they were good enough to be playing for us!
  10. Maybe if the SPFL sacked the likes of Willie Collum then fans may turn up without the fear of being cheated
  11. I wonder if its worth while sticking an ad on Gumtree and ebay, its free and if worded correctly then it should get a good few hits on top of everything else that is being done.
  12. An idea well worth trying. The club and us fans need to be broadcasting it from the rooftops. Let's aim to double the crowd and get 6,000 into the ground. If 100 of the newcomers become regulars the initiative will have been a great success.
  13. It may have been Butcher's selection but John Hughes has made them the team they are today. He had 'eye' enough to keep and shape them where many a new manager would have rushed their 'own' players in. I have no worries about any replacements he brings in, they may not 'star' overnight but he will work and mould them to fit.
  14. Absolutely delighted, great worker and team player with a good eye for a shot. Hope his team mates now follow suit.
  15. I hate the January window - it only serves to unsettle everybody. whether any of the rumours are true or garbage, they don't help the togetherness of any team. Of course, supporters of the big fish love it - "who will we get to strengthen our squad?" they cry. For everybody else, it's "who are we going to lose?" I'm sure we'll not escape unscathed come February - I just hope that if we do lose one or more that we get decent compensation!
  16. My mistake, with Goodwin laid flat out after the goal I thought it was him. Quite frankly skinning Tesselar just doesn't seen quite as fun. From the highlights clip it appears it is actually McLean who Raven skins. But frankly, who cares who it was! It was a great goal and worth the admission money on its own.
  17. Just watched the highlights. Neat goal by Billy after great work by Tansey and, especially Raven. Hopefully that will help improve Billy's confidence to get him back to his best soon. He does seem to need a lot more chances per goal scored this season, as evidenced by the 'one on one sitter' he missed in the first half. However, a win is a win and another 3 points in the bag. That'll do for me.
