Just one of several Celtic signings from the last few seasons, purely to weaken opposition, trip them of talent, limit potential future sales income and stop any team in Scotland getting them - Armstrong, Mackay-Steven, Ciftci, Allen, Christie - even under the previous management regime that signed them there was limited game time. Its hard to see where these players may it now under the new manager considering the positions he has signed. The likes of Christie and those who haven't left Celtic yet will most likely end up in English lower league obscurity like those before, although with the big step up in salary on offer you can see why these boys sign up - a few years at Celtic and they are well set for life.

OFW McKay Meekings Warren Tremarco Tansey Vigurs Doran Draper King Doumbaye Team almost picks itself after the last game, however I feel after the 2 sub appearances from Doran he deserves a start if fit enough, so its between dropping Polly or Vigurs. Up front Fisher came on and scored but in the first half I felt Doumbaye cause Celtic problems - tough call but I think either will be a good option. Being in the position where we have Mulraney, Doran, Boden and Fisher to try fit into a winning team when all can contribute something shows we are starting to build up strength and depth - this means Cole hasn't even had a sniff yet and Raven & Horner are on the sidelines!!!

  4. So sad to hear the news of ICT Director Donnie Fraser passing away over the weekend. I did not really have too many dealings with him, but did have the opportunity to be introduced to him by Kenny and have a long chat with him on our recent trip back in May, so it was a bit of a shock to read the club notice of his death. Condolences to his family, colleagues, and friends and all those who are mourning his passing at this time.

This is one of the things I have hated about the green and blue teams of Glasgow for a long time because not only does it affect the domestic league, and the players themselves, but it also has a trickle down effect to our national team. They have (had) the resources to asset strip other clubs in Scotland for their best young talent at cheap prices and with rare exception they then let those youngsters languish in the reserves or sit on the bench where they are just picking up a wage but not playing. Players who were promising or exciting at other clubs then fade away into obscurity and what might have been a potentially successful career and a future as a decent international player just kind of fizzles out. I hope this does not happen to Ryan. I cant blame Ryan for going to Celtic. Quite apart from the money - and its a short career so he does have to look after #1 - the Christie household, including Ryan are all fans so its a bit of a no-brainer when the opportunity arose. Its certainly a step up and I think most of us here - as well as his Dad and his coaches - would probably agree that he has a special talent and given his chance he could shine in any team in the SPL including Celtic, but it will take something spectacular (or catastrophic) for him to get that chance in the first team as fielding a Scottish player is just not as sexy as fielding someone else from another country (even England) who has cost several mi££ion to sign. I am hoping somehow he does get into the team, and that he gets a chance to shine ... I reckon that's all he will need as his talent can and will propel him forward from that point.

I'd be happy enough with that although I wouldn't be too fussed if we kept the same team as Sunday. 1 - 1 seems a safe bet. Four out of the last six games between the sides have ended this way. Dundee haven't beaten us in over ten years in the league. Their last, and only win, was a 3 - 1 victory back in January 2005. I asked some Dundee fans on P & B how Williams and Vincent were getting on. One said that Williams should be melted down for glue

I wonder if Ryan might not have been better going to an English Championship or even EL 1 side, with the prospect of regular first team football. But, I suppose, even that might not have been guaranteed. It certainly has done nothing for Andrew Shinnie's career at Birmingham, nor for Billy Mckay at Wigan and Oldham. However, both Sam Winnall and Marley Watkins seem able (when fit) to command a place in the starting X1 at Barnsley, who are performing well in the Championship.

Unfortunately this is typical of the Scottish football mentality and the continuing demise of Scotland on the international scene. To me this was always about Cellic wishing to prevent him making his mark in Scotland and falling prey to the likes of Aberdire, Jam Tarts or Sevco.
  10. No Question, it was a foul, a penalty and not given. Sitting in F section main stand and could not have had a much better view other than being on the field in the box. Yes I was amongst the sweetie rustlers and we were making as much noise if not more than the whole North stand and no it wasn't the noise of the wrapping papers D D before you say that. The Highlights and the pundirt reports biased beyond belief. I agree bdu, bbc do need a clear out there and replacements who give neutral and honest appraisals. King did some terrific running pulling Celtic defence apart , not shown. free kick only just saved by Keeper who almost took it over the line as it knocked him back over the line, whether the whole ball was over or not is another debateable point. Dumbauya, spelling excused please, curtailing Celtics efforts to get the ball forward the way they wanted to by his constant and energy filled harrying and running ( I don't know who IHE was watching because this man is and was good ) He did run out of steam in the second half but Richie was quick and made the substitution at exactly the right time. There was a world class keeper playing in that match who deserves all the accolades he gets, our MOM absolutely brilliant We did give Celtic too much of the ball in the second half and we did not apply the same break them up tactics we showed in the first half but all in all the lads did a great job. A great Team effort and speaking of Teams money for money we were as good if not better than the rich boys. We fully deserved the draw despite their managers comments and those of the PUNDIRTS a spelling error that I will not change in this instance. How I hope I can get back to Tulloch stadium next Saturday to watch the Dundee game. Don't miss it lads if at all possible ......This Team is well worth the money and deserve our support.
  11. Pages 86 and 87 of the FIFA Laws of the Game cover this. If the foul on Draper had been given and it ended before they went into the penalty area the decision would be a free kick and a red card for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. However, the foul here carried on into the penalty area which means that a penalty could / should have been given. Ignore this "It's where the foul started chat" you might hear from some quarters - if a foul starts outside the penalty area and continues into the penalty area it's given as a penalty. Posters above are correct to say that in this particular instance the result would be a penalty and a yellow card for the Celtic player but bear in mind the new rules still allow for penalties and red cards to be given depending on the foul being committed such as deliberate handball to deny a clear goal scoring opportunity, violent conduct etc.
  12. Excellent draw and a very entertaining game. It is interesting to note that the four matches Celtic have played in the league this season before today had resulted in wins against the teams that are 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th in the league and they have won them by an increasing margin. 2-1 against Hearts, 4-2 against St J, 4-1 against the Dons and then 5-1 against The Rangers. I think that suggests Celtic are head and shoulders above the rest of this league and emphasises what an excellent point that was today. Personally I'm not sure that the substitutes were the best. Whilst great to see Mulraney, King and Doran on the pitch at the same time as a statement of attacking intent, they need to get the ball in the first place before they can show what they can do. We lost a bit of midfield bite when both Vigurs and Polworth went off and that, I think, contributed to Celtic being so dominant in the 2nd half. I think Foran should have kept Polworth on and taken King off. King had a fantastic first half but did seem to tire later on. Mulraney and Doran both showed good touches and are clearly going to be quite a handful to lesser teams this season. OFW was great and we rode our luck with the woodwork as well. Had Celtic got another 2 or 3 with all that pressure, I imagine folk would be questioning the substitutions. Again, Tremarco was terrific. His level of commitment is just fantastic. I hadn't realised that Mckay also has a long throw. With Tremarco and Meekings also able to launch long throws, an area of the game that has been abysmal in recent years should now be one of our strengths. There are still too many empty seats in the stadium but with games like we've seen this season hopefully the seats will begin to fill. Way more entertainment than last season.
  13. Only got to 2nd half and watched most of it through my fingers as Celtic shots crashed off the woodwork, were blocked by desperate defending or parried away by the outstanding Fon Williams! As the half went on, you just sensed that Celtic were not going to score and that we might just get a chance or 2 to snatch a point. Subs were inspired and spot-on, although the free kick at the death would have been perfect for Vigurs! Still, Tansey nearly buried it and his cross for the leveller was excellent. Much to be proud of! The important thing is to capitalise next week against Dundee. Still not quite sure who best to play up front, but the rest of the team just about picks itself.
  14. Does anyone seriously believe that it would not have been given at the other end ?
  15. From TV at lots of angles, and considering the rule changes, it was a penalty. If a penalty was given it would be a yellow and not red. If deemed outside the box its red. In my opinion Draper was slightly ahead and had the right to cut across the Celtic guy. After all that's where the ball was. According to Howard Webb its a penalty because although incident starts outside the box it continues in.
  16. I'm in KR REYKJAVIK social club and everybody's looking at me cos I've just shouted F****N YES!!!!!!!
  17. Also, just noticed, in National League, Liam Hughes scored last night (13 Sep) for Barrow, in a 4-1 away win at Southport
