  1. I remember Don (Keir) driving the CaleyInn bus to Dumfries ... that was quite an away day. or the game in Dundee against Rangers where a few members of the bus mooned Gazza as he was driven away from the ground with Jimmy 5 bellies. I remember our 4-3 game against livingston being described eloquently by Bill Leckie as all that was good about the game just a day after Hugh Dallas had been hit by a coin at an old firm game. I remember the Gringos picture in the paper after that Livi game. I remember 28 minutes in Kilmarnock and the Killie Hippo and I remember countless wonderful experiences at the TCS and in various away grounds. all good times and all part of the rollercoaster experience of supporting a club outside of the big two. I always glance at the fixture list when planning trips home and try to maximise the opportunity to see (home) games. However, when I do come the atmosphere is flat. The enjoyment and experience has been legislated out of the game. We were never the most vociferous support but we could get a bit loud and rowdy. Not any more. if anyone has the temerity to do so it seems they could be in trouble from the authorities ... I have not lost the spark, but I hope that the club and Scottish football in general takes a look at things and looks at ways to improve the matchday experience. Not talking about American razzmatazz as some might suggest (or have in the past), just basic stuff like being treated with respect, having decent food options, reasonably clean toilets, stewards that are present to help make the day better and resolve issues rather than inflame them or cause confrontations. Alcohol is always involved in football, so you will get the odd bell-end but just deal with them as they deserve and dont take the default position that everyone is a bell-end !!! The club does some things right and some things wrong and that has been true regardless of who sits in the boardroom. Having them listen is a good start ... then making small changes that dont have to cost the earth (or in some cases dont cost anything) is the next step ... lets hope CJT - once back on track - can be the conduit it was supposed to be for that kind of thing.

Nobody is suggesting another level, as such. What's needed is a means for these young fringe players to be getting regular competitive game time in a more experienced environment to allow them to properly develop and realise their potential.
  4. Totally understandable - The Caley Inn Crew, The Innes Bar Bunch, Highland Marchers, meeting up with The Mob, Caley Away, or even just having a couple of pals in the car or on the train to games. All contributing factors in what have been amazing matchday experiences over the years. I vividly remember the 4-4 draw at Tannadise where the day leading up to the game was so great, we were chanting 'we want 4' when we went 3-0 down within the first 10-minutes, then had a 'rowing' competition with the other supporters bus on the route home! Great times.
  5. I realised that a long time ago that its the same for me. Through good times and not so good times Im there!
  6. It's the friends I've made through ICTFC that, above all else, keep me coming back.
  7. Sorry to go pre-merger but if you were a pre 1994 Caley or Jags fan then the journey has been incredible, bordering on the miraculous. A definite footballing fairy tale. There are still times that I need to slap myself to believe what has happened. Then I pour a voddie and watch SO many great post 1994 memories. Apologies but I think that Joonya's possible "problem" is that he and may others are NOT born and bred Inverness supporters. We have been through some bad times BUT the club were attached to us for eternity. Supporting the same team ALL your life says it all. Some people came across ICT as their rise started. Last season must have been a nightmare to them. To me we stayed in the Championship, won a cup and appear to have more about us. As for more nonsense about the Board. IMHO let them concentrate on the finances and the politics. The people who I want to hear from are Robbo and the players and NOT the board. And look at our management team. At least we know that 100% commitment will be prioritized. An old adage but some of the mercenaries that we have picked up in recent seasons simply did not know what "playing for the shirt" means.
  8. So once again I've been doing some calculations and once again I have been enjoying a glass of vino or 3ish so please double check my sums and let me know. If we win or draw on Sunday we finish top of the group. If we lose it all comes down to our points and GD. There are 8 groups, we need to out qualify 4 of them, so..... Group A: County and Alloa are 1 and 3. Arborath in 2nd have played all 4 games and have 8 points. They play each other for the final game. We currently have more points than both of them so if it ends a draw we still finish with more points. Therefore we out qualify 2nd place from Group A regardless of our result against Hearts. ? Group B: Montrose are in 2nd with 6 points and have completed their games. Forfar are in 3rd with 5 points, their max is 8 points therefore we out qualify 2nd place from group B regardless of our result against Hearts. ? Group D : Dundee sit 2nd with 6 points and a GD of 4. They play Brechin for their last game so I am going to assume 3 points and at least 3 goals so Dundee will out qualify us. ? Group E: Ayr Utd play Partick on the final day. This is a 1st v 2nd clash. Ideally an Ayr win would suit us as Patrick currently have a GD of 5. If Patrick win we need a swing of 5 goals to help us. This is 50/50 ? Group F: Currently both 1st and 2nd have less points than us. Livi play Berwick so certain 3 points, Airdrieonians play Hamilton. If we go on cup form this should be a win for Airdrie but I can't call this one as Hamilton had a good win in their last game. A Hamilton win suits us perfectly. ? Group G: Motherwell sit 2nd with 7 points and are away to Clyde. 3 points to the Well therefore we won't out qualify 2nd place ? Group H: This is not so straight forward. St Mirren currently sit 2nd with 6 points but are without a win in 3 games. They play Dumbarton on Saturday, a Dumbarton win suits us and I think they might turn them over so I am going to say we will out qualify 2nd place. ? So as it stands, we have 2 groups that are out of the running and 2 that are certainly through. It all comes down to groups F and H. Of course ideally we go to Hearts and stuff them but I'll also take a draw and another win on penalties. After all we have a good record in League Cup penalties against Hearts ?
  9. That was hilarious, and I think I may have bought just about enough for an open sandwich...best bus trip ever.

Hearts are nothing special. They have made wholesale changes and the squad hasn't gelled. We are the polar opposite, the players know each other and are on a good unbeaten run. They should be fearing us. They need the win and are at home. This suits us, our problem seems to be creativity, if they come at us, we have more space to attack. Perfect situation. Let's not play for second, let's win and gaurantee a seeded spot in the next round.

Double yellow lines - why stop there if there is no emergency ?

There's no likely about it. If we lose to Hearts then we have 9 points and at best, a goal difference of plus 5. In groups D,E and F it looks as though the 2nd placed team will do better than than that. It is also perfectly possible in groups A, B and G and I would expect the 2nd placed team of at least one of those to do better than 9 points and plus 5 goals difference. In Group D, Dunfermline and Dundee should win both their remaining games. If Dundee beat either Brechin or Peterhead by more than one goal then they will have 9 points and their goal difference would be plus 6. In Group E, Ayr and Partick both have 9 points and play each other. A draw assures both progress. Ayr have a goal difference of plus 9 and Partick plus 5. If Partick take anything out of the game then both will have a better record than us. In Group G if Motherwell either beat Clyde or draw and win the penalty shoot out, they will better our record. Queen of the South have played all their games and have 9 points and a plus 7 goal difference. In Group A, County have to play Arbroath tomorrow (which they should win to go onto 9 points) and then Alloa at the weekend. If Alloa take anything out of that game then they will better our record. Whether County could afford to lose narrowly to Alloa would depend on their margin of victory against Arbroath. In Group B both St Johnstone and Montrose have to play Forfar. One would expect to Motherwell to beat them to top the group but Montrose would come second on 9 points if they also beat Forfar. Currently they have a goal difference of plus 1. Whether they pip us would depend on how much they win by and how heavily we lose In Group F, Livi should beat Berwick to top the group with 11 points. But if Airdrieonians beat Hamilton then they will have 9 points and a goal difference of at least plus 6. The one scrap of consolation is that it is impossible for the 2nd placed team in group H to reach 9 points. Based on that I would suggest that if we lose to Hearts then we probably won't qualify. But as you say, at least we will know whether we need to take something out of the game or whether we can actually afford to lose and, if so, by how much. Things will be a little clear tomorrow night.

Rules should be rules. I have recently been at the wrong end of a bureaucratic decision. Oh and tell that to the team that misses out on going through. The decision to take the 3 points of Hearts could not have been argued against. Hearts only have to win 1-0 now.

It is that gap in progress/development that the SPFL/SFA have constantly failed to rectify....and one which Project Brave also fails to rectify. As the song goes.....Rip it up and start again!!
  15. I love this team and how they are playing tonight.
  16. It’s quite disconcerting that many commentators on this threat have done a cost-benefit analysis and found it not worthwhile. If I think of the competing expenses on leisure entertainment, I have a large Smart TV, pay for a TV licence, then two digital TV packages, Sky Sports (ad hoc), 4G Internet, home WiFi, two magazine subscriptions. I also have a FT and a PT commitment. If I lived in Inverness that would be more of a quandary on attending. All clubs are wrestling with this. I think there has to be added value to even just stay still. A shuttle bus there, a free entry bar area, perhaps showing a midday EPL game, a decent bar lunch, and some post-match beers and a later shuttle back would do it, as well as some more meaning to it all (besides the locale and football). (Now I think of it, Reading F.C. had this). I know this is a far cry from the days of flat caps and escapism from the mills, pits, or yards but so are our lives.
  17. Due to the kindness of one of our fans and help from Travel Club ,Craig will be going to the game tonight . Thank you ...you know who you are .!!!
  18. Course there are, I'm just trying to encourage a bit of open discussion into the club and if you held the purse strings what would you like to change. So I throw it back to you, what would you like to see changed or brought in?
  19. Surely people must understand the logic - Hearts won 2-1 and got 3 points. Irving only came on in the 65th minute - approximately into the last 1/3rd of the game. Hearts were leading 2-0 at the time of the substitution. Therefore Hearts should be allowed to keep those two goals as Irving was not an influence. However he was on the pitch at the time of the Cove equalizer so that does not stand. So Hearts should have won 2-0 BUT as a punishment the Cove goal was allowed to stand. As for the points - SIMPLES - 2/3rd of the game had been played before the incident - therefore two points should have been awarded but as a punishment a second point was taken off them. So one point and a 2-1 win makes total sense.
