  1. Why not support the lad instead of tagging him a failure before he kicks a ball
  2. Crosspost from the Nathan Shaw thread : We will see how he does ... Over the years we have had equal measure of turning jobbers into decent players for us - who then return to being jobbers when they move elsewhere - but we have also signed some out and out duds who never live up to whatever potential someone saw in them. There is a key phrase in that article for me and it is 3 simple words - "reignite his career" . The lad was playing for Celtic as a youngster and had played for Scotland youth before having to drop a couple of leagues after Hamilton so he's clearly not a bad player. However, that fall from the top level has got to hurt a little and of course the head can go down. The article talks about how he wants full time football ... if he wants it enough, then perhaps he is motivated to work hard and achieve it. Give the lad a chance and hopefully it works out for us (and him).

  4. Because he's kicked lots of balls and has shown that to be the case? The whole "judge me on what I do from here, not what I've done till now" is the same BS argument being used to keep Boris in power. I'm not sure a playing career that's been in constant decline is any indication that "he's not a bad player", quite the opposite. I think Jock is justified in his appraisal and he didn't actually say that Boyd shouldn't be given a chance, however it's for the player to perform and change minds, not to expect nobody to judge him on what he's achieved (or not) till now.
  5. That's not what the Alloa fans are saying but then it's a Rice quote so we can take that with a pinch of salt. He has hardly lit his Managerial roles up since leaving us. Proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say ... a Rice pudding! Sorry couldn't help myself.
  6. It shows a lack of consistency and a lack of money. Each player is different so yes it can be both. Every team signs the odd jobber now and again but we like to recruit jobbers for key roles such as those in front of goal. Boyd will need to seriously up his game because the Alloa fans were less than complimentary about him. Shaw is a good young player looking to break into fulltime pro football. Some might argue that Shaw is a risk but he has something about him. We lack ambition because we take a punt on jobbers like Boyd who will be a benchwarmer at best - we should be recruiting more younger players like Shaw not jobbers like Boyd - that is where the lack of ambition comes into play. I am happy to hold my hand up if I am wrong at the end of the season but I reckon it will be a case of Boyd who?

Some suggestions: What plans does the club have to maintain the increased interest and support from fans that was generated by getting to the play offs? Fans feel communication is poor. Does the club accept that and will they commit to regular updates from the Chairman or CEO, at least monthly all year round? How ambitious is the club in terms of achieving promotion and, if we achieve it, are the finances in place to build a competitive team that can re-establish itself as a Premiership regular? How stable is the club financially? What are the long term thoughts about the stadium: section 94, match day experience, future developments, location etc? Are there plans for the training of Stewards? In particular so they see fans as customers and so they enhance the match day experience rather than standing where they are blocking the view from my seat or allowing others to stand at the top of the stairs blocking the view of fans sitting around me. I hope the chat goes well and look forward to hearing what the CEO has to say.

Are there any plans to encourage active travel to the stadium? Bike stands perhaps? When will the minutes of the last fans forum be released? Will it be by 2023? Will there be any further fan forum type meetings? Is there a strategy to engage with the Supporters Trust going forward? Are there any plans to improve the 'match day experience'? Will the West Stand have a proper roof installed after the concerts are done and if so how will it be funded? Do you feel communication with fans generally has been sufficient over the last season or so?
  9. I wouldn't put these players in the unidentified/unrealised talent category. They are guys who, as you rightly describe them, are jobbers. They have obvious talent, but bounce around clubs because they generally only perform at any one place for a short period of time or they have a knack of pissing people off and get moved on. The genius with many of these signings is that if we get a good first season or so out of them, then Ross County come calling and we offload them before they turn sour.

Going to be great to see Gary Warren up here again after he signed for Clach. Should put a few extra on the gate
  11. Good marketing though - they have the High-vis version available for the council and workers ....
