  1. Ryan Christie voted Supporters' Player of the Year. The 30-year-old attacking midfielder was named Supporters’ Player of the Year at the club on the final day of the English Premiership season. Christie, who has been with the Cherries for four years since signing in 2021, played 33 matches for Bournemouth this season and helped them reach ninth place in the English Premiership. The club released a statement on why Christie received the award saying: “A heartbeat in the Cherries’ midfield, Ryan Christie was a model of consistency, determination and quality across the campaign.
  2. Happy on both fronts. Great when someone other than the twins win something and whilst I had no soft spot for Aberdeen when I went to university there, nor when we played them in cup games, I softened on them in 2004 when they helped us out with a groundshare, getting us into the SPL. Also lots of player history between the clubs, and the recent loaning of players to us under administration may well have helped keep us in L1. Delighted for Shinnie as well. 300th appearance, lifting the cup twice in 10 years with two different clubs, great stuff.

  4. You don’t need AI Don, artist George Stubbs predicted this result way back in 1770. Although I’m not actually sure if that is a lion or Rod Stewart!
  5. But if we were playing a 'bigger' team, fans would somehow make the effort midweek. The thousands who turned up for our Scottish Cup finals/semi finals get criticised/questioned as to where they are the rest of the time. Yet here we have a similar scenario where 75% of those who turn up for a league match are nowhere to be seen for a challenge cup match. That's not the fault of the competition or the format. That's indicative of football fans' attitude in general...and not just with us. We all follow our team, but somehow our perception of the opposition can be a bigger factor in whether we attend or not 🤷‍♂️
  6. Oh great, more early round Challenge cup games, it's just what everyone has been crying out for!
  7. Great to see and hear Graeme before and after the win in the last few days. A guy who overcame adversity to succeed. Lovely pictures of his daughters in the celebration group photos. Not forgetting this was a great day for Scottish football - Celtic greeting because some other club won one of their trophies!!
  8. Getting pumped by Livvy 4 -2 with minutes to go! i can't say i'm shocked as they have avoided the drop on a few recent occasions! Cowie will keep his job or will sugar daddy Roy decide to get someone new? one thing for sure there will be an exodus of mercenaries heading over the bridge!
  9. So this will start as a 30 team league, comprising League 1, League 2 and SPL B teams. Each team plays 6 matches (between August and November) then the top 22 progress to the knockout stage where the 10 Championship sides join. The prize money has been increased, but I expect teams like us will be using the group stage to give game time to youngsters and fringe players.

To modify a phrase that was popular here many years ago, as we rose through the divisions, "it shows how far we've gone", when the best we can do is take delight in County's downfall. Still, take delight I shall! 😂
  11. Congratulations to Livingston. Regardless of opposition tonight, they have done really well this season. County will be a strong addition to the Championship next season. They will inevitably want to bounce back but it will be quite brutal with St Johnstone there too. Ross County do in fact deserve to go down. It is another sad day for Highland football. Alex Samuel has had two years of this. It will be interesting to see if Derek Adams is brought back to lead the charge........

Ben Corner has accepted the six month deal offered to help him with his recuperation.

I really hoped he would have another season here, did well and seemed a really nice guy. Hope for him he won't just end up on the bench wherever he goes next, wish him all the best.
  14. I can't imagine there are many fans desperate for more games in the Challenge Cup. Against B teams. In the middle of the week.
  15. I really don’t like this set up. Why are the Championship sides not thrown in at this stage? That is the whole point of the new CL set up. To get the bigger sides playing each other early and allowing the smaller teams a chance at qualification. It’s also a ridiculous decision to pull all Highland and Lowland teams to accommodate the B teams. 30 teams initially enter and we play 6 games to knock out 8 B teams. What a waste of time
  16. Are they trying to emulate the Champions League with the 30 team league phase 🙄🙄🙄? One thing I will say though is, our record in the league cup has actually been pretty poor, we haven't gotten out of group stages since the year we got hammered 5-0 by Motherwell in a midweek knockout game under Billy Dodds (I think). So I'd like to see us do well in it this coming year but I suppose success depends on the draw we get!
  17. Four of the six games are midweek. I think I saw somewhere that the B teams will play all their games away from home so we could have four home games if that is right. A very uninspiring format though.
  18. Quite an achievement. Captaining two different teams to Scottish Cup wins 10 years apart.

I am really disappointed to hear this news. I taught Lewis in various classes and a more genuine guy you would struggle to find. I spoke to him at the last game of the season and he was quite upbeat about a return. Gutted for him.Best wishes for the future.

Now confirmed Musa has rejected our offer to stay.
  21. Chance for a little more variety in opposition, opportunity to see more games, and with it the additional ticket income for clubs. Are these not all things people have been asking for?
