Just got home in time before the police closed the kessock bridge. Decent game in the kelty sun. Was directly behind Billy’s goal, I said to my mate as he shaped his body to shoot, that’s going in. Back 4 were rarely troubled and both full backs had good games. Had some shots at goal, some would have been in row Z if there were seats, and one went over the hedge behind the goal second half. We will face sterner tests but you can only beat what’s in front of you. Went for a pint before the game, think it was called king bar, and I was surprised, maybe its a common thing now, but sitting in the corner of the bar was Charlie Christie, grassa Bennett , ex clach chairman Chisholm, and 5 minutes later the main man Alan savage came in. I would have thought the kelty boardroom was the place for them to be. Ah well, new regime, mixing with the fans. Alonge, it’s a no thanks from me. Sole looks pacy, but was trying little tricks to beat his man when using his pace would have been a better option. Missing first home game next week v an inform Peterhead ?? as heading to Grangemouth to watch my 10 year old grandaughter play for ict girls.

A classy and composed performance, at least until the substitutions. Hard to conclude on how good we actually are given that Kelty were a shadow of the side we have seen before, making loads of errors, lacking physical presence and generally seeming a bit aimless. But we certainly played a lot of lovely football and didn’t do much wrong. Great start to the season but many tougher opponents lie ahead.

More than happy with the squad we have started the season with and don't even feel the need to caveat that with an "all things considered". Looking forward to seeing how the team develops once they've had more chance to gel and get familiar with each other.

Dominant performance until we eased up after the third. Kelty were poor and their defence contributed to each goal, but we had to score. Mckay’s opener was the pick, curling the ball in. Longstaff scored the second with a header, whilst Wotherspoon juggled the ball before calmly netting the third. Chalmers ran the midfield and MacIntyre looked good at left back. An enjoyable afternoon in the sun but we will have tougher tests ahead.

Peterhead, goal difference +3 - top of the table. ICT, goal difference +3 - bottom of the table.

I thought he juggled it and then made a clever finish. As you say, need to see it again. I was with a pal who supports Kelty who feared the worst before kick off as he felt they were exposed playing out from the back and two of our goals came from pressing them in that situation. As you say, our job is to beat what we are facing and we did that with aplomb today. Roll on next Saturday and hopefully we can perform as well at home as we did today.
  7. Sounds a lot like the kind of thinking that put us where we are now.

A great way to kick off the season in the sun. Thought Longstaff was brilliant today, easily my man of the match. As exciting as Sole has been, Luis was excellent again and you can see he’s got a real finish on him. There was a spell in the second half where it felt like we might go on a run like we did at East Kilbride, only this time the post stopped us. Still, we looked like the team from the league above and in the end it was a really comfortable win.

Given where we were this time last year and then in October, this has to be one of the more enjoyable pre-seasons for any Caley fan. It feels like we have really been working to a plan and retaining Longstaff, Savage and Allan were big pluses. The fact that Stewart and Bavidge were so happy to come back is a terrific sign, along with Wotherspoon returning. There are a number of really interesting signings with real potential such as Sole Any news on McKinnon (was aware he was injured) ? Fingers crossed for the season ahead, sadly no trips up for me until November when I am up for the Montrose game...Retirement[cash]/family commitments/starting University all factors

A lot of those "highlights" are pretty rubbish, that could easily have been Billy over the past 2 or 3 years. But as people on here like to say, the proof is in the pudding 😉

  13. I'm a bit concerned about all the high expectations for this season. We have come from a bad place, and whilst we are on the road to recovery, it will need a lot of hard graft to get back into the Championship. For me, the most important thing to happen this season will be things off the park. We need to develop a sustainable business model which will allow for longer term player contracts in the future with the potential for transfer income in due course. Obviously it will be great if we can win promotion with the squad we have, but I think a solid mid-table finish will represent positive progress on our journey. We would then look to push onwards and upwards the following season when we would probably have a more solid foundation to ensure we don't go straight back down again. I've predicted we will finish 4th, which, at the time of writing, is lower than everyone else has predicted. If it turns out I have been too pessimistic, then I will be delighted, but if it turns out most people have been too optimistic and we don't win the league or gain promotion via the playoffs, it would not be good for the club if it was generally regarded as a failure

Says the Kelty coach! bc 😀
  15. That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. But it does not make it a fact.

The squad assembled should walk this league
  17. We must have, by far, the biggest wage bill in this league and will be making a loss of hundreds of thousands of pounds this season. We have players all our rivals would kill to have. Savage is funding this to get us to where we can be sustainable as a full time club. Much as we all love Kells just now, the harsh truth is that if he doesn’t get us promoted this season he has failed.
