  1. Breaking news from the P&J website. The doom and gloom surrounding ICT was lifted last night with the announcement that fans' favourite Lionel Djebi-Zadi was to make a sensational and unexpected return to the club. The signing is expected to restore confidence in the club's shaky defence, and to boost the morale of fans and players, still reeling from Wednesday's 8-0 defeat to Celtic in the Co-op Funeral Services Cup. ICT has previous experience of bringing back club legends, including Barry Wilson and Dennis Wyness, but this move is sure to send even greater shockwaves through the home support. The rampaging Frenchman left ICT in May after almost single handedly leading the club back to the SPL. He had previously played a vital role in the club's SPL relegation season, being ever present towards the end, when the club failed to win any of its last 4 games. "I'm looking forward to my return to Inverness" said Djebi-Zadi last night. "And I think the fans see me as some kind of saviour. In fact, I frequently used to hear them shout 'Oh Jesus' from the stands. All I ask in return is that they make a little bit more effort when trying to pronounce Djebi-Zadi - it usually comes out as 'Fackeen-Pishmun', although I wonder if that is perhaps the Gaelic translation of my name. I love the Highland way of life - especially the fresh air, although Ross Tokely often asked why I would swipe at it so much". "I heard Wednesday's result just after I finished my shift at Disneyland Paris. I was naturally disappointed to hear how far the club had fallen without me, and to be honest it was no surprise when I got the call from Thierry Boucher the next day. It was a bit of a bad line, which made his voice sound very slurred, but I think he was very eager for me to come back and even used the words 'f***ing desperate'. I didn?t hesitate to say yes, despite my concerns about the security situation in Inverness - every time I walked down the street I would hear people shouting ?bombscare!? ?At first I wasn't sure if I could come back in time for the St Mirren game as I was scheduled to be 3rd reserve for Goofy in the parade, but my employers have been great and actually encouraged me to go immediately." But Djebi-Zadi concedes that there were occasional problems on the park last time around. "Yes, it was frustrating for me that my teammates just couldn't anticipate what I was about to do, and I was always a couple of steps ahead of them. I think it was because of my continental style of play. I remember once trying to explain to Grant Munro the concept of total football, but he just turned and ran off to intercept a through ball." Language was also a barrier to defensive understanding. "Sometimes Grant confused me by shouting ambiguous instructions like 'Get it away!' which I interpreted as an order to bring the ball down, get it under control, take a few touches, then dribble past a few opponents before passing the ball into the stand". But despite the tensions on the pitch, the relationship with Munro appears to have blossomed into a lasting friendship. "Sure, we kept in touch. I've spent the last few months training to be Mickey Mouse, and Grant says that if anyone can do that role, it's me. He tries to keep my spirits up, often just texting lots of laughing smilies". When Lionel is asked about his ambitions, they clearly go beyond saving ICT's season. "A lot of people seem shocked when I say this, but I still haven't been capped for France. I wrote to the Stade de France last month offering my services, as I heard they were struggling to put a team together. I was told to turn up at the stadium the night of the Belarus game, but there was clearly a misunderstanding, as I was put in the team of litter pickers. I did it serve my country, but pointed out the mistake. They apologised and I was told to come back to the stadium on the night they were playing Bosnia. Unfortunately this was another misunderstanding, as the game was actually an away fixture" he says sadly. "But I know that my return to ICT will be a stepping stone to greater things, and I have my sights set on the next European Championships in Brazil". Meanwhile, Terry Butcher is still in a state of shock after the 16-0 drubbing at Parkhead. "I know exactly what went wrong. Normally I study the fans? website forum to get my team selections and tactics. But this time Mo suggested that we if we are going to get anywhere in management, we should make our own decisions. I won?t be making that mistake again, no no no? he says, shaking his head mournfully. "It's not the result or the performance that hurts" he adds, "it's the reaction of the fans. In particular, I've lost the support of my mentor and inspiration, a tactical mastermind who guides me from his bedroom in Wick. I feel ashamed that he has had to go to the trouble of wiping his sticky monitor and keyboard to go ballistic at me online, and I could tell from the number of angry smilies that he was very very serious.? ?I considered quitting as a result, and drank 2 boxes of red wine before I noticed the fans on the forum clamouring for Lionel to come back, and I could see that he was the answer to all our problems. He was always one of the most talked about players ICT ever had, and as a footballer he does things I?ve never seen before in all my years. It?s not a panic signing, honest.? ICT fans spokesman Jonathan Mackenzie, 67, was preparing to travel north from Lancashire to Paisley when he heard the stunning news. ?It was one of those JFK moments? he said. ?I just couldn?t believe it was really happening. One thing?s for sure, the St Mirren game is going to be entertaining. Hopefully our opponents will be so busy trying to wind up Rossco that they won?t notice the gaping holes on the left. In fact, this weekend?s game could be so good that I might even consider staying for the 2nd half?.

  2. Delighted we got the win today. With the resources at hand, the gaffer is doing a great job. Long may he remain at the helm. Heard Odi and Granty were superb today. Roll on the sheep.

  3. As a lead clinician fer the PeterKayshire CRHTT I would wish to declare a mission statement on behalf of Terry Butcher and ICT. The team has been put on a "red alert" and it requires fans to be tolerant, patient and to provide more support than usual. Our depleted ranks will undoubtedly apply 100% and so does the fan base. Starting tomorrow at Paisley we simply have to lift the atmosphere and we have to zip the lip to any criticism during the game and vent any frustaration in type on here thereafter. Tomorrow is all about total encouragement and support from the first second to the last. We simply have to stay and applaud them off if we win, lose or draw. So swear allegiance ya feckers - our club is in an injury / selection crisis - and I seriously think that we can be a 12th man fer the next few weeks - HOME and away. PAISLEY - BRING IT ON.

  7. Putting aside the absurdity of the thread title, it can only be Newcastle United who, like us, were relegated from the top flight last year and came straight back up this year. Come to think of it, that's probably the first time an English club and Scottish club have both bounced straight bacvk up in the same year. Surely this calls for some sort of twinning arrangement!

  9. C'mon Mannie--the CIS cup involves professional people, players and so forth. Not playboys. No doubt you would categorise Mr Butcher's decision to play a depleted team as a "professional decision" in the same way as a deliberate take-down, often brutal, in the box, is described by those who know about these things as a "professional foul".Which is another way of saying a cynical, cheating act designed solely to gain an unfair advantage by robbing an opposing player of a fair chance to score; and who cares if he gets injured or not. For me, an old fashioned, aging, footie- watcher since before you were even born I do not like "professional" anything in footie if it means that kind of thing becauseit is rather prevalent nowadays isn't it? It kind of goes along with much of the over -permissivness we see all arond us these days--like the gang rape in my next door village of Pitt Meadows here in Maple Ridge, Canada of a 16-year old girl which has also been splashed all over the Internet to such an extent that you would have to be on hoiday on the moon NOT to have seen or heard about it. Just because you disgagree with my sentiments about pride and such, and seem to think that being in the top league is the greatest thing since sliced bread, there is no requirement upon you to be patronising . Also, does that mean that you don't have too many scruples or very little real pride in the team--for you is it all just about glory? And is the achievement of filling the club's pockets with money the most important thing of all? Frankly, it does not seem to have brought unabounding happiness to this club since they first entered the "big league" . Many fans even say that last season for them was one of the best ever....so, how about you? Did you revel in the Niculae fiasco, the Brewster fiasco and the relegation shattering end to the season before last. I was not aware that either Niculae or Brewster was a bad person and despised as human beings. The reason for the agony that surrounded these two persons was because of their presence at the team which happened to be in the SPL. Had it been elsewhere their impact may very well not have been noticed to nearly the same extent and not cast a long shadow either. Once you start allowing this "professional" crap to enter into the equation then you are allowing precepts of true value to start slipping and that is as dangerous a precedent as sending boys to do a man's job in a situation where they end up getting thrashed to bits. For some of them who were not quite ready for that burning fire perhaps they didn't learn a great deal from it except how to hurt like hell in the sole interests of allowing a n ambitious Manager to pursue his "professional " dictates.

  10. to be honest , caley played sh*t, but a team is nothing without its support.. the away support for Celtic was horrific, your supposed to get behind your team, just like those celtic fans in the north stand, our away support should be exact same as that but no.. 75% of the caley fans sit on there arse for the whole game.. the remaining 25% of the fans got behind there team even though we were losing 6-0..

  11. Sorry, going to be a miser here, IHE's posts and this one are akin to the The Onion and Daily Mash, i.e.spoofs, but I find it kind of annoying. once, maybe, twice, ok, but the forum is getting lots of these "stories" now - so much so I'm not sure if the real news is real anymore. While once, if someone posted a rumour, the mods would have moved it quicker than lightning, spoofs, seem to be exempt. For me, the increasing number of spoofs kind of damages the flow and integrity of the site. Just my own feeling and I may very well be alone in it!! You are more than welcome to your "fer **** sake mun, get a grip" and "lighten up" posts but it is just one opinion, on something trivial in itself...

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

    • Hamilton 2-1 Inverness CT - Play off final 1st Leg
A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.

    • Inverness CT (1-2) Hamilton - Play off Final 2nd Leg - Preview
The hurt, the pain, the reluctance and pig-headedness to listen to the fans asking what is going on, the lack of communication, the lack of ambition, the stench of mismanagement, the concert company, the battery farm, the demise since winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, the lack of passion, the lack of commitment, the dwindling fanbase, the lack of leadership. It has left the fans comfortably numb

    • Hamilton -V- Inverness CT - Play off Final 1st Leg - Preview
However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.

    • Inverness CT 1-0 Montrose Play-Off Second Leg (0-0)
Little Consolation: Inverness will face Hamilton Accies in the Play-Off final after nervously scraping past part-time Montrose who were eventually reduced to ten men when Blair Lyons was sent off after an off the ball incident in the 84th minute involving Morgan Boyes. Inverness had dominated throughout, but failed to capitalise on their possession, and as per the entire season failed to create much of note. The first half was livlier than the first leg, but the same problems showed up our lack of quality. We started with no wingers and Billy Mckay as usual in a withdrawn role. It's not worked all season, so why should it suddenly work now. A woeful first half ended goalless and it was on the hour and out of the blue when Billy Mckay prodded in from three yards to score the only goal of the game following a corner
