  1. Hughes is hardly going to admit there was any falling out. There may well not have been any falling out but at the end of the day he wanted more than the club could offer him in terms of budget and, whilst his ambitions were ones that I am sure every ICT fan would agree with,it simply was not possible with our resources. I also think I saw someone on Twitter, possibly Caley D Alternative Maryhill, make the point that if Hughes wants to make the dinner and buy the groceries that's fine but he kept buying potatoes and more potatoes and then even more potatoes. It took the chairman to actually step in and buy some steak because the shopping that Hughes had been doing was so poor. Hughes might be able to throw together a really good meal when someone else has done the shopping but when he's left to get the messages he really seems to struggle to buy the right ingredients.

  4. Now that Sutton Utd are out of the FA Cup, I wonder if one of our local bakers could put together a package to lure their sub keeper for us?

  7. Appreciate you highlighting the above to me, but what she actually said was that he 'blanked a player during a function' which has now morphed into him becoming a bully. Just an observation.

  8. I had written a lot more on KinYogi but the edited version is, all our Managers had their plus points and sometimes your better off looking for the plus points as opposed to trying to look for the worst in people or hanging on to a negative thought for too long. We had a big shiny cup for a whole year, that was pretty good eh and it didn't cost us millions to indirectly buy it. Of all the different things you could remember John Hughes for, that a good one.

  9. The Foran XI looks stronger than the IHE XI, imho. The three in the middle was a big part of our ability to remain competitive throughout the game yesterday, and Anier hasn't shown enough in any of his games to warrant a start. In fact, if we were going to throw a second striker in there, I'd be inclined to give Ebbe his chance.

  10. Obviously the pre-Christmas update didn't happen, but the club took a huge step forwards in regards to developing it's online offerings with the installation of a high speed line at the stadium during the past week.....and we'll be working hard over the next few days to try and get ourselves in a position to launch live streaming with the Rangers game on Friday night for overseas fans, with an on-demand option being made available for UK viewers after the hold back period. We'll be doing some testing Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday evening so keep your eyes peeled on here for information on how you can help with that by patching in to streams and giving us feedback on how it functions etc. We have made a start on the second part mentioned in my last post above by adding 2 new volunteers to the Media Team. Liam and Sean have been with us for a couple of weeks now and are quickly coming up to speed....in fact I can say with some confidence that they have already passed the point of being time consuming (through the need to be trained etc) and are now productive members of the team. As well as assisting on match days with the first team, they will also be covering development matches as and when available. Priority will be on our home games to start with, but that will extend to away games more and more as we build on their skill set and ability to function independently....it all just takes a little bit of time.

  11. CaleyD unlike you, of great privileged information, I cannot answer all your questions, suffice it to say that in most cases discussion with the Board would have been appropriate before action was taken, if not, then the Board is guilty of poor management and control. That is my opinion. I am not in any way up to speed on all things John Hughes, merely a supporter of ICT who detests injustice. The man did, in the main, do us proud and gets very little appreciation from many on this forum especially those who did not want him as manager in the first place. I take his side for what h did for us and for what might have been if he had stayed longer.

  12. Alan.... for several years now, ICT has had two basic sources of income and relies on them BOTH to maintain its ongoing business (ie keep its head above water) - 1) regular earnings like league gate receipts, TV money and SPFL dividends and 2) Windfalls. These include the likes of transfer fees, cup runs (not, as Don says, Europe though), an exceptionally high league placing, one-off investments and even on one occasion selling the club's last significant tangible asset, the Social Club. Unfortunately there has been this misapprehension that any time one of these windfalls comes along, the purse strings can suddenly be loosened and the club can start splashing out on extra players. It doesn't work that way. All the things I mentioned in category 2 are part and parcel of basic operations and if there's a period when they DON'T happen then I would imagine that a bit of financial concern materialises. For instance I have always understood the sale of the Social Club to have been made to fill such a gap. As a result, it's a non-starter to suggest "pushing the boat out". There is no boat there! What you said about ambition was "if the board had matched (Yogi's) ambition.... I believe we'd have been pushing for Europe". That cannot be construed as anything other than an implication that the Board's ambition is inadequate or lacking. It also, however, implies that Yogi's expectation of how much money should be available was the realistic one and the Board were in some respect falling short in some way. It could instead be argued that Yogi did fine with Butcher's team but when it came to having to sign his own players, he was unable to do this in as financially efficient a manner as his predecessors.

  13. JH was the author of his own downfall at ICT. Managers will invariably push their chairmen for more money but that should have been kept in house. The moment he went bleating to his friends in the media he was acting entirely in his own interests and against those of the club. Richie has obvious shortfalls in his ability as a coach, at least for now, but there is no doubting that he has more class in that respect than Yogi.

  14. Probably not the role Hughes had in mind when decided that he couldn't fulfil his ambitions at ICT.

  15. Fair play to yogi if the board had matched his ambition ie push the boat out for storey i believe wed have been pushing for europe rather than a relegation scrap true saying u only realized what u had when its gone

  16. It seems to me that Bughtmaster is fully entitled to his opinion even if it does very often seem to be rather skewed and very much in the minority. He his equally entitled to air his view on this site. It is, after all, a forum for fans of ICT with all sorts of view points. Nor do I think he can be criticised for attended relatively few matches. We don't know his personal circumstances and dyed in the wool fan's, wholly supportive of the club, are not able to attend often or sometimes at all for reasons of finance, geography, infirmity, work commitments and countless other reasons. Where I do take exception is with his persistent tendency to sneer at and denigrate others, often the majority, who hold different and entirely legitimate views many of which are based on what, unlike him, they glean from a little inside information or see on the pitch with their own eyes week after week while he is sitting at home listening to Open All Mikes sniping at the summarisers for making legitimate criticisms of our style of play particularly towards the end of the Hughes era when we could all see very clearly what was happening. Worse still is his arrogant and high handed tendency to speak of the 'support' of those he disagrees with clearly implying that he doesn't believe that these people, many of whom put a great deal of time, effort and hard earned cash genuinely supporting the club we all love in very practical and financial terms. So, I suggest that he continues to post his opinions after all the site would be a very dull place if we were all of one mind but does so in a somewhat more respectful manner and, for goodness sake, when you've clearly lost the debate put that bloody shovel away and move on to something else.

  17. I don't like bullies, that's a fact, the treatment of Bughtmaster with the red dots is an absolute disgrace, that's a fact and his first comment about the board's appointment of RF as a fans favourite is a fact too. We have all seen the supporters on this forum clamouring for his appointment before JH was even forced out. I said at the time "be careful what you wish for". I had tears in my eyes the day we won the SC knowing how far the club had come and JH and the players did that, those who criticise JH for not recruiting players consider this in case you have forgotten, it was Steve Kinsella who identified those players, not Terry Butcher and the board should have bust a gut to retain Kinsella, I said so at the time. Unfortunately, there is no money in our club, nor in Scottish Football and I will make another prediction which you might bear in mind, half the current Premiership today will be part time within ten years. The only way to survive long term is to have a great coaching staff to rear players which cost nothing in transfer fees and JH was/is a great coach. Instead of panning him you should be thanking him for the greatest football moment most of us will ever experience.

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.
