  1. Some of it is Greek to me too--when the buttons I press do not spell correctly ...sigh? I just know you are going to make some positive suggestions to help an old man..... It's like the rain ,I can feel it coming in me bones....
  2. Keep to the thread point ple ase ... otherwise it's all oie in the sky...
  3. I am left wondering what with all this "to-ing and fro-ing" and players coming and going and speculation going on etc----er, just where is all the money to pay these players coming from? I mean are they mostly on loan or what --or just plain bought or about to be bought cheaply? Any stats or details on this plaese? Scarlet
  4. IHE Scarlet is failing now. Has sore feet and frequent stiff necks as a result of trading in his brass one for a custom fitted one made out of space-age material. Would you put a straight jacket on him ...might help....eh? You have to live with him to appreciate........... However, happy times IHE, Daddy Pimpernel
  5. P.C.Tools' Spyware Doctor checks for Rootkits and of course so does F.Secure. Root Kit Revealer is not as simple as it sounds. One can understand the principles behind rootkits but when the great Revealer throws up tons of stuff from the reasonably lengthy scan but fails to advise you what each individual entry means and whether to, and how to, get rid of each then you can be stymied. But go right ahead and try it to experience it. But you probably will delete stuff that you should not unless you just want the learning experience. Smile! + Wink!
  6. Georgeios--would it be too much to ask for you to refer to the players by name.? I had to look up the team sheet to figure out who RD was. Thought at first Lionel had changed his name to Rionel, Ryan, Randolph or Ripper. Thank you ever so much G. When I saw the score I was stunned. What is amiss I thought? Aha! The magic formula was again missing ? No drive? No gellin' Was it the Pimple who earlier said that this campaign was not going to be easy this season? If Scarlet was in Dingwall just now then the answer would probably be "I tink so".
  7. That last point is well taken Scotty.
  8. Good to hear from you Kalnietis. How did Pavels like playing for Caley Thistle.? Was it a money issue that stopped him re-signing for this season perhaps? Regards Scar :33: let
  9. Avast has a rough appearance but is surprisingly effective. I hear AVG is O.K. Both are free. I use P.C Tools Spyware Doctor to detect malware and find it very effective but have to turn off the programme else it will run in real time and stop your computer as it updates, maybe scans etc. So I just turn it on again when I want to run a scan. Reports that I have seen online indicate that SpyBot is fine too. And you can try SpyZooka . " My experience with Paretologic's "Xoftspy" spyware detector has becomne "iffy" . They claim that it's the fastest thing on the net but it rarely comes up with any spyware at all, with the exception of the odd tracking cookie such as Real cookie. Strangely enough, after my subscription to this programme (have had it for years) terminated this year and I did not renew it they kept sending me reminders about the renewal and when I still ran a scan there was a whole raft of Real Cookies popped up which I think were nothing more than false positives to induce me to continue with their programme. This I do not like since there is far too much of this kind of thing on the net already. Windows firewall does not, I repeat NOT, stealth your computer. To find out exactly what this means go to www.grc.com to have your computer tested. This is a fascinating site and the guy who runs it , Steve Gibson, is also fascinating. Seems to be a brilliant boffin from a very young age.He recommends only one effective firewall with regard to stealthing all your ports and that is Zone Labs firewall called Zone alarm, the basic free version. Personally I use F. Secure Internet Security, which is a world wide prominent anti-virus, because it is free with Shaw Cable's Internet and usually costs about $90 (maybe 50 pounds) to purchase. The problem I find which is very irritating is that it frequently runs in real time updating etc and checking every thing that comes into your computer for virues and it uses up virtually all of your computer's resources and you are left wondering why you can't get I.E to flick up your web sites etc. and no other programme will run during it's processing. This usually happens at Start Up and of course that is when you are anxious to get on with it and don't need long delays. You will detect it working if and when you press Ctrl + Alt +Delete to see what processes are using up your resources. Avoid Trend Micro Anti-virus like the plague.! If you don't you will be sorry! I used it for years and found it effective but it has been developed now to such an extent , including a spyware detector, that when it runs in real time, which is frequently, it takes up every kilobyte of your resources and even stopped my computer dead in it's tracks. It was such a mess that nothing would run at all and by the time the local tech shop got to the root of the problem by a process of group eliminations it had cost me 3 weeks down time and a re-format of the thing at an overall cost of $200. Boy was I mad. So I contacted Trend who admitted the problem but refused to reimburse anything.Said their EULA gives them immunity to any action for defects etc.
  10. Felling more optimistic now. At least we have options..and cover... :) now.
  11. If I get more posts on the site can I get to abuse Manfer and /or Canada Bob or Caley D? Or even IHE if he does not get off his duff and get that tiller working on HMS Sneck? I mean things are so quiet on here right now what do we have to do to shake the punters up a little? I wish some one would abuse me for a lark........................
  12. Believe it or not Caley's connection with Leicester City goes back for decades--as far back as ages 15 or 16 for the Scarlet One....that is the mid 1950's. Leicester City came up to Telford Street to play a friendly game against a Caledonian team , or maybe even it was a city select team , and won the game handily. It was my first view of a team from "outer space"...i.e. outside the Highland League and frankly ,through my young boggled eyes whilst standing on the right of the park beside the trees, the visitors were slick and impressive.I also remember the visitors played in a white strip so the old memory is rock solid for important events in Scarlet's life...eh? :025:
  13. Gringo That seagull to which you made reference was actually Eagles in disguise. He was sussing out ICT with a view to the future. Unless you are quite certain that his name was Jonathon....in which case it probably wasn't him since Jonathjon would have been sitting on a Bridge over Troubled water instead of a crossbar...
  14. Believe it or not the pace of the football in Canada (e.g Whitecaps) in the MLS (I think this League is still called that) has increased noticeably. I think if Richard can hold a regular berth in the Caley Thistle team he may not be inclined to leave Inverness quite yet. But who knows ....it's all Greek to old Scarlet these days anyway...
  15. "It's a transformer" LOL
  16. Richard Hastings' name appeared in the local Newspaper in the last week or so in relation to the fact that the Vancouver Whitecaps have been granted the new franchise available in the MSL commencing in 2011 . Not linking him directly with the Whitecaps I may say but as a reference to the fact that players from this part of the world (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) are making a name for themselves in other parts of the globe. This is a very exciting event for Vancouver and the surrounding Lower Mainland area and brings back memories of the 25,000 or so fans that they used to draw many years ago during that heady season when they won the North American Soccer League . Big money is around here and with a brand new retractable roof at B.C. Place stadium the promise of Summer soccer in the Major Soccer League either in the sun or in the dry weather is estimated to be a big draw for fans in this area. Vancouver is a very multi-cultural city and a lot of folks know their football . An East Indian friend of mine who speaks with a Yorkshire accent said to me recently that the downtown venue for the new stadium will be a success because the transit systems all come into the downtown or nearby and there will not be any need to drive cars into that nightmare place On 25 July I am off to the local Swangard stadium to watch the current Whitecaps team take on the Puerto Rican Islanders which will also be on the local T.V.. That's a good hard-working team and this promises to be a good match. On 25th enjoy your Alba match then.....
  17. Sounds like the club Management are now making a major effort to communicate and consult (if that is the right word) with the fan base.
  18. G Please ask Scotty how to access this very very inventive and funny thread of some 5 years ago. It was a beaut... Totally brill man--(no reference to the Cream..Brill cream ...eh, what? )
  19. 17..... ? Would have to be a bit of a prodigy and a prodigious worker to assist ICT in their quest for promotion at this age.? This coming season is not for very inexperienced young fellas and wet nurses. This coming season is going to be long and it will be a TEST..... of determination, of strength, of skill and HARD WORK without let-up. Otherwise all the talk about a return to SPL fotball in one season is, and will be ,mostly hot air. Or does anyone on here think it will simply be a canter ?
  20. You have that right son Ho ! Ho! It would be "Yo Ho Ho and run to the Liquor store me boy and get another bottle of the rum stuff". B)
  21. Was the best theme thread of the early days. Long may it return and continue. I still remember the tears of laughter streaming down me cheeks. And what a crew:- Long John Saliva i/c getting the juices flowing in battle. Naughty Nicky the parrot for raucous interludes between partings of the gunsmoke Elegant Eagle Feathers i/c sails and dress codes for Plank Walking Checky Gunwale i/c of cannon balls and grapeshot Kaiser Jung Wilhelm 11, Subaltern, aide de c. to Captain IHE I ==SNECK=== plus all the other members of the crew about to be named by sundry posters on here who were privy to the initial plans for victory. B)
  22. Not amusing Wyness et pals ? I guess it can be hard for very young people to come into the land of the living these days? C,mon use your imagination and leave the computer behind... What does amuse you then? Bart Simpson? This was hilarious stuff--even Chas bannerman was up in the Crow's nest with his aerial broadcasting blow-by-blow accounts of every skirmish. The flag flew bravely from the mizzen mast daily and Captain IHE was exhorting the troops at every turn who responded magnificently battle after battle, through the mists, the blood, the shattered gunwales and the cannon blowing up amidst a crescendo of screams and brave cries, screaming parrots and slurping of mainbraces. Ahhhhhh..... come back HMS Sneck . You are sadly missed begorrah. :020: It was a time of change, of hope, of fear and excitement and ultimate exultation in the sterling victories of yore.
  23. I can't believe it's five long years since we wrote that stuff. LOL Fond memories and many a good laugh for sure. :020:
  24. IHE yon pictur of you-- it looks like his mother sitting on a stool under his coat. Who would be attracted to that pray.. ? Don't answer that, we are still on speaking terms......LOL
