  1. Bromley eagle --thank you fromCanada! Welcome to the Forum Scarlet
  2. Hopefully Terry is not bringing these guys in simply on a wing and a prayer. If he is ,he's all on his own, can't help him ,he will just have to wing it I am afraid. Of course, if he is successful in this venture, he will undoubtedly feather his own nest I am sure.
  3. Scarlet is a man of few words,,but they are all positive about this.
  4. Any port in a storm for most of us overseas listener I can tell you. Right now we are no doubt all kind of down.... :)
  5. Yes, Xausa did in fact play in Vancouver as far as I remember .
  6. Well, who knows Scotty-- about Richard Hastings---you may be right damn your eyes. LOL
  7. Odhiambo has pace and more than a little determination. If he could get up and get in behind the defence at speed he might cause havoc with hard crosses in front of the goal from either left or right. But whether or not he has the skill to beat players on the way forward remains to be seen.
  8. Yes I know the twi-light of his career is beginning to percolate through the shades. However, the emerging Whitecaps who are the latest North American team to be granted a franchise to play in the Major Soccer League, w.e.f. 2011, would benefit from his experience at left back and his presence would provide an incentive to the younger players coming through (130,000 kids playing soccer in this Lower Mainland district of the west coast of Canada) showing to these kids how far they can go and he would of course represent a steadying influence on these and other players. So don't rule him out on the transfer front. Vancouver Whitecaps have always been there or thereabouts--- winning the North American soccer League some 24 years ago in front of 24,000 fans, the 1st Division title last year and well on their way to another good season this year. The MLS league is a big deal money-wise with Gordon Campbell, the Premier of B.C., spouting off about summer football at the renovated B.C. Place stadium, retractable roof for all-weather play, a downtown venue with electric elevated sky-trains running every fifteen minutes and improved transit in place to ferry fans in from outlying districts --all true. He also enthusiastically surmises that up to 33,000 fans will load up the stadium but fails to divulge how often (LOL), and so forth. The League is expanding, Beckham even comes to town, and it looks as if the millions spent , and to be spent in the future, on this Franchise application by the big backers will pay-off--especially if all the hype and trumpetting is anything to go by. These are wealthy money- persons and they seem to think that this will be a good investment. :P
  9. If the change to the team is one of fresh air blowing in the door at Tulloch AND THE TEAM REACT ACCORDINGLY THEN THE DROP WILL PROVE TO BE A POSITIVE EVENT, IF A SHAKE UP . What we as fans have to hope for also is that the constant tension of being in a relegation race at the bottom of the SPL will be lifted off the backs of the players and the flair within their bones will come back and they will just get better and better. If this occurs they will be invigorated and the season could be very interesting and compelling. Having said that if the team thinks this will be a dawdle then they had better realise that only a very determined hell-for-leather attacking style will serve them best and keep them in contention because if the pace, effort and standard is slightly lower than in the SPL there is a danger of the players falling into the trap of easing off ......with poor results being the outcome. :P
  10. And with Vancouver Whitecaps having been selected to play in the MLS (Major League Soccer) North American League in 2011 I would not be surprised if Hastings found his way into their team. Just a warning.......
  11. Which prompts the thought again as to why all the revenue is not shared between all the teams . This would surely result in a a more compettitive atmosphere, better players and skill from all teams and more excitemenmt on the park with more to play for other than avoiding relegation every other season. Of course it is a sure bet that this will never happen with the Old Firm killing any such deal. The problem for the Old Firm is this : If the English Leagues don't want them and the other SPL teams all fall by the wayside financially one by one over a period of time who will be left to play agaisnt Rangers and Celtic. It's a fact that these two teams are feeling the pinch just as all the others are doing and their standard of play has , from all accounts, fallen. So they had better stay in Scotland otherwise they might get a very rude awakening in English football with a diminished income stream and a diminished reputation being an increasingly prevalent situation. Thoughts on this ?
  12. And if Terry makes a valiant effort but just misses promotion who will we blame then? The players?
  13. Thank goodness he signed. Why? Because there does not seem to be anybody else with the determination and flair of this man on the books to fill the left back position? At least Mr McGuire has left; and is off the payroll-presumably........
  14. If I can make it from Canada, David, I am sure you can get to Tulloch Caledonian Stadium every other month or so. Welcome though for sure. Smile?
  15. I think you have to be very sure of your facts before you bad-mouth anyone. From my own point of view unassuming would be a reasonable word to use if it means friendly and approachable and non-arrogant which is the manner in which I was received upon a visit last year to the club. Very helpful, actually, considering I had not been back in Scotland for upwards of 30 years. In all probability he does his very best to further the interests of the club like many another hard worker. Has an interesting background and resume and writes a very concise and explicit letter. And one can only assume that he must like inverness. Think you should give a person the benefit of the doubt or go over and speak to him personally in a frank exchange of views. S.P.
  16. Did you concede defeat then?
  17. I have nothing against a player moving to another club if he is free to do so for money. However, I think his statements, if true, about "whipping the Caley" nd "we will walk the league" are ill-advised. Hope that he had his tongue in his cheek . But remember Brian.."there is many a slip 'twixt cup and lip"--e.g. injuries, etc, and there are no guarantees about anything .
  18. You folks that DO go along please ensure that they are all painted in brilliant Scarlet. This will ensure that the colour of energy is a focal point for the players every time they see the place. And a reminder to them to see red whenever they think of last season and resolve to make it the last season in Div.1. Once advised that my suggestion has been implemented at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium the Pimple fella will consider sending a large donation to the club.....................
  19. JOHNBOY You are actually posting some reasonable and coommon sense stuff these days and perhaps you have decided to eat some of your avatar. Let's forget Craig Brewster and just wish the poor gentleman some success. I doubt very much that he enjoyed any of the negative stuff that happened during his tenure at ICT and probably had a really miserable time of it at the end. However he did no doubt get handsomely paid by ICT as a parting gift so we really can't feel too sorry for him--he is no different to many another poor soul who , for one reason or another, did not cut it and had to move on. So---------Please--let bygones be bygones ...eh what?
  20. That flag is just a reference to the current secret locality of the Scarlet Pimple.. and to the ribbing I( have probably handed out to one of the yopunger fans. I am 17 also but my eyesight is not what it used to be and maybe that number should be switched around.... :( :)
  21. "Fan power?". "We are responsible for the new announcement, forcing the Board to come out with it ,etc, etc " ? Some of the posters on here are allowing this to go to their heads and are sounding just as arrogant themselves as those they accuse of arrogance. In what way are the Board arrogant pray? According to what has been said on the Forum before, in fact a Relegation Plan WAS in place before the end of the season. The Board required to remain silent due to the serious nature of recent developments and of course they will be reasonably sensitive to the restlessness of certain fans who agitate for news but they are running the club and need to act in accordance with their own needs and thoughts instead of responding with knee jerks every second to overly-critical views of fans who basically have no great inside knowledge of the workings of the Board or the club, or the stresses and strains attendant on this, at all, nor have put time and effort or personal capital into the Club as these Directors have. Additionally, these Board Directors remain at risk at all times of losing the value and worth of all this energy that they introduce into the club by the making of incorrect decisions yet choose to shoulder that burden alone without whining to the fans or asking for sympathy or money to offset THEIR disappointments or financial losses, nor complain in public aboput the mud that is thrown at them often unfairly. This is on a par to some extent with the expressions of persons who say that all rich people are bad because they aver that the rich have gained their wealth at the expense of the less fortunate in all cases. This premise overlooks the tremendous worth that some rich persons inject into society whether it be by way of countless jobs, silent charitable donations that never see the light of public day, the purchasing of, or start-up of eventually successful , businesses which provide valuable service to the community as a whole and so on. George Fraser's long statement is very open and explanatory. He is refreshingly direct and his language is clear, crisp and to the point. I like George Fraser if for no other reason than his linguistic abilities are a credit to the club and are a touch of educated class in an otherwise negative, brutal world where mayhem, corruption, greed, violence and many other perversions of morality and spirituality are becoming depressingly commonplace and the norm . In other words, for crying out loud give these folks a break. And time . The season has not even started and yet every move they make or choose not to make is an offense to some outspoken supporters whose love for the club should be directed in more positive ways and who have the quality and capability to enunciate their thoughts differently. :015:
  22. Johndo--are you popular at the Club by any chance? The Harbour road was heavily travelled in days of yore. Oliver Cromwell, whom I knew well when this otherwise Calvanistic man became unusually flirtatious with my sister, passed his troops back and fore many times in their visits to the Citadel and the effect of the soldiers' tackety boots on the tarmac was horrific. ICT had to repair all this mayhem and, sadly,..had to resort to debt to achieve this. It occurred to me that using the existing building as AN ADVANCE TICKETING AGENT PRIOR TO MATCH DAYS FOR A MINOR CONTRIBUTION TO COUNCILLORS' EXPENSES WOULD ENSURE HIGHER TICKET SALES DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WOULD CURTAIL THE LENGTHY JOURNEY ROUND THE CORNER TO THE CLUB, LIKE. For those who were willing to make it thus far we could hand out a free copy of each of the aforementioned books which would enrich the lives of the younger up-and-coming element who no longer appear to be taught at school how to read or spell, review Geography or History and otherwise are very computer literate but can hardly be called educated. Any resistance to these deeply-insightful and thoughtful comments should be primarily addressed to Chas Bannerman for adjudication. The Scarlet Pimple is otherwise engaged for a week and cannot accept stormy comments , repudiations of his brilliant thoughts or any other negativity currently present, or about to happen, on this site for reasons of solidarity,.like. But then again no one takes the Scarlet Pimple seriously, so ...................... have a nice day,..like. :015:
  23. Well, water will find it's own level and if he is ineffective at Dundee then so be it. Frankly , in the general doom and gloom prevalent around this Forum these days I am afraid to comment in case I say what I think. My mood is hardly an improvement and I am depressed and frankly apprehensive that we simply do not have the energy or firepower to get out of Div 1 this coming season. But I am not going to slag off people just because I am down. Let these guys get on with it and judge them on results when they have had an oppoprtrunity to get over the inevitable sag in morale and emotion thatthey must also be experiencing fter you know what .... C'mon for Pete's sake, give them all a break and let's all try and roll with the punches and get behind everybody at the club ---or we are really done for---and I don't mean for just one season! JEEZ!! :thumb02:
  24. Grrrr-- I saw Toronto against Vancouver and they were really sharp in the first half but faded as Vancouver came on to a real pacey game and plonked them in. At that stage I thought that Vancouver had the best chance of winning the whole thing but this is terrific for Taranna. Dwayne de Rosario is the player I have twice urged ICT to look at . Without success!! Tireless worker, skilful and a great shot on him. Usually stamps his restless energetic approach on the game and is definitely an inspiration to his mates. Well done Toronto Scotty--I recorded on here in a previous thread that I was surprised at how skilful the players have become in the North American soccer and the the pace of the game has noticeably improved. I thoroughly enjoyed the match that I saw at Swangard Stadium in Vancouver and the over 5000 crowd also had a great time on a very sunny and beautiful evening here about 2-3 weeks ago. Scarlet
